2 Thessalonians 3

1 Finally, do pray, brothers, for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and may be glorified even as also with you

Au reste, frères, priez pour nous, afin que la parole du Seigneur se répande et soit glorifiée comme elle l’est chez-vous,

2 and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil men; not for all [are] of the faith.

et afin que nous soyons délivrés des hommes méchants et pervers; car tous n’ont pas la foi.

3 faithful however is the Lord, who will strengthen you and He will keep [you] from evil.

Le Seigneur est fidèle, il vous affermira et vous préservera du malin.

4 We have been persuaded now in [the] Lord as to you that [the] things that we command (to you *k*) both you are doing and you will do.

Nous avons à votre égard cette confiance dans le Seigneur que vous faites et que vous ferez les choses que nous recommandons.

5 And the Lord would direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

Que le Seigneur dirige vos cœurs vers l’amour de Dieu et vers la patience de Christ!

6 We command now you, brothers, in [the] name of the Lord of us Jesus Christ, are to withdraw you from every brother idly walking and not according to the tradition that (they received *N(K)(O)*) from us.

nous vous recommandons, frères, au nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de vous éloigner de tout frère qui vit dans le désordre, et non selon les instructions que vous avez reçues de nous.

7 Yourselves for you know how it behooves [you] to imitate us; because not we were idle among you,

Vous savez vous-mêmes comment il faut nous imiter, car nous n’avons pas vécu parmi vous dans le désordre.

8 nor without payment bread did we eat from anyone, but in labor and hardship (night *N(k)O*) and (day *N(k)O*) working in order not to be burdensome to any of you;

Nous n’avons mangé gratuitement le pain de personne; mais, dans le travail et dans la peine, nous avons été nuit et jour à l’œuvre, pour n’être à charge à aucun de vous.

9 not that not we have [the] right, but that ourselves [as] an example we may offer to you for you to imitate us.

Ce n’est pas que nous n’en eussions le droit, mais nous avons voulu vous donner en nous-mêmes un modèle à imiter.

10 Even for when we were with you, this we were commanding you that if anyone not is willing to work neither he should eat.

Car, lorsque nous étions chez vous, nous vous disions expressément: Si quelqu’un ne veut pas travailler, qu’il ne mange pas non plus.

11 We hear for some are walking among you idly, not at all working but being busybodies.

Nous apprenons, cependant, qu’il y en a parmi vous quelques-uns qui vivent dans le désordre, qui ne travaillent pas, mais qui s’occupent de futilités.

12 Now to such we warn and we exhort (by *N(k)O*) (the *k*) (Lord *N(k)O*) (of us *K*) Jesus (Christ *N(k)O*) so that with quietness working their own bread they may eat.

Nous invitons ces gens-là, et nous les exhortons par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, à manger leur propre pain, en travaillant paisiblement.

13 you yourselves now, brothers, not may grow weary [in] well-doing.

Pour vous, frères, ne vous lassez pas de faire le bien.

14 If then anyone not obey this instruction of us through the letter, of this [man] do take note (and *k*) not (to mix with *N(k)O*) him so that he may be ashamed;

Et si quelqu’un n’obéit pas à ce que nous disons par cette lettre, notez-le, et n’ayez point de communication avec lui, afin qu’il éprouve de la honte.

15 And yet not as an enemy do esteem [him], but do admonish [him] as a brother.

Ne le regardez pas comme un ennemi, mais avertissez-le comme un frère.

16 Himself now the Lord of peace would give you peace through all [times] in every way. The Lord [be] with all of you.

Que le Seigneur de la paix vous donne lui-même la paix en tout temps, de toute manière! Que le Seigneur soit avec vous tous!

17 The greeting in my own hand — by Paul, which is [my] sign in every letter; In this manner I write.

Je vous salue, moi Paul, de ma propre main. C’est là ma signature dans toutes mes lettres; c’est ainsi que j’écris.

18 The grace of the Lord of us Jesus Christ [be] with all of you (Amen. *KO*) (to Thessalonica second it was written from Athens *K*)

Que la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec vous tous!
