< 2 Corinthians 2 >

1 I judged (for *N(k)O*) within myself this not again in grief to you to come.
But it was my decision for myself, not to come again to you with sorrow.
2 If for I myself grieve you again who (is *k*) the [one] gladdening me except not the [one] being grieved by me?
For if I give you sorrow, who then will make me glad, but he who is made sad by me?
3 And I wrote (to you *k*) this same thing, so that not having come grief (I may have *N(k)O*) from [those] of whom it was necessary me to rejoice having trusted in all you that my joy of all of you is.
And I said this very thing in my letter, for fear that when I came I might have sorrow from those from whom it was right for me to have joy; being certain of this, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4 Out of for much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you through many tears, not that you may be grieved, but the love that you may know that I have more abundantly toward you.
For out of much trouble and pain of heart and much weeping I sent my letter to you; not to give you sorrow, but so that you might see how great is the love which I have to you.
5 If however anyone has caused grief, not me myself has he grieved but in part — that not I may burden all you.
But if anyone has been a cause of sorrow, he has been so, not to me only, but in some measure to all of you (I say this that I may not be over-hard on you).
6 Sufficient to such a one [is] the punishment this which [is] by the majority,
Let it be enough for such a man to have undergone the punishment which the church put on him;
7 so that on the contrary rather for you to forgive and to comfort [him], lest perhaps by more excessive sorrow may be overwhelmed such a one.
So that now, on the other hand, it is right for him to have forgiveness and comfort from you, for fear that his sorrow may be over-great.
8 Therefore I exhort you to confirm toward him love.
For which cause my desire is that you will make your love to him clear by your acts.
9 For this indeed also did I write, so that I may know the proof of you, whether to everything obedient you are.
And for the same reason I sent you a letter so that I might be certain of your desire to do my orders in all things.
10 To whomever now anything you forgive, I also myself; I also myself; and for I myself (to whom *N(k)O*) I have forgiven, if anything I have forgiven, [it is] for you in [the] presence of Christ,
But if you give forgiveness to anyone, I do the same: for if I have given forgiveness for anything, I have done it because of you, in the person of Christ;
11 so that not we may be outwitted by Satan; not for of his schemes we are ignorant.
So that Satan may not get the better of us: for we are not without knowledge of his designs.
12 Having come now to Troas for the gospel of Christ also a door to me having been opened in [the] Lord,
Now when I came to Troas for the good news of Christ, and there was an open door for me in the Lord,
13 not I have had rest in the spirit of mine in the not finding my Titus the brother of mine, instead having taken leave of them I went out to Macedonia.
I had no rest in my spirit because Titus my brother was not there: so I went away from them, and came into Macedonia.
14 However to God [be] thanks to the [One] always leading in triumph us in Christ and the fragrance of the knowledge of Him making manifest through us in every place,
But praise be to God who makes us strong to overcome in Christ, and makes clear through us in every place the value of the knowledge of him.
15 For of Christ a sweet perfume we are to God in those being saved and in those perishing,
For we are a sweet perfume of Christ to God in those who are getting salvation and in those who are going to destruction;
16 to one indeed an odor (from *no*) death to death, to one however a fragrance (from *no*) life to life. And for these things who [is] sufficient?
To the one it is a perfume of death to death; to the other a perfume of life to life. And who is enough for such things?
17 Not for we are like the (many *NK(O)*) peddling the word of God, but as of sincerity, but as of God, (before *N(k)O*) (*k*) God in Christ we speak.
For we are not like the great number who make use of the word of God for profit: but our words are true, as from God, being said as before God in Christ.
