1 Timothy 2
1 I exhort therefore first of all to be made entreaties, prayers intercessions, [and] thanksgivings on behalf of all men,

2 for kings and all those in authority being, so that a tranquil and quiet life we may lead in all godliness and in [all] dignity.
Mo nga kingi, mo te hunga whai mana katoa hoki: kia ata noho marie ai tatou i runga i nga whakaaro karakia, i nga tikanga mahara katoa.
3 This (for *k) [is] good and acceptable before the Savior of us God,
He mea pai tenei, he mea e manakohia ana i te aroaro o te Atua, o to tatou Kaiwhakaora;
4 who all men desires to be saved and to [the] knowledge of [the] truth to come.
Ko tana nei e pai ai ko nga tangata katoa kia ora, kia haere mai hoki ki te matauranga ki te pono.
5 One for God [there is], one then mediator between God and men, [the] man Christ Jesus
Kotahi tonu te Atua, kotahi te takawaenga o te Atua, o nga tangata, ko ia ano he tangata, ara ko Karaiti Ihu;
6 the [One] having given Himself [as] a ransom for all, the testimony proper times in [their] own,
I hoatu nei i a ia hei utu mo te katoa; he mea kia whakaaturia i ona wa ake;
7 in regard to which was appointed I myself a herald and an apostle — [the] truth I am speaking (in Christ *K) not I do lie — a teacher of [the] Gentiles in faith and truth.

8 I desire therefore to pray the men in every place lifting up holy hands apart from anger and (dissension; *NK+O)
Na, ko taku e pai ai, ko nga tane kia inoi i nga wahi katoa, kia tapu nga ringa ina ara, kaua he riri, he tautohetohe.
9 likewise also women in apparel respectable with modesty and self-control adorning themselves, not with braided hair (or with gold *N+kO) or with pearls or with clothing costly,
Ko nga wahine hoki kia mau i te kakahu ataahua, kia tu whakama, kia whai whakaaro; kauaka te makawe whiri, te koura, te peara, te kakahu utu nui;
10 but with what is becoming to women professing [the] fear of God, through works good.
Engari ko te mea e tau ana mo nga wahine e whakaae ana ki te karakia, ara ko nga mahi pai.
11 A woman in quietness should learn in all submissiveness;
Me ako marie te wahine kia nui te ngohengohe.
12 To teach however a woman not I do permit nor to use authority over a man but to be in quietness.
E kore hoki e tukua e ahau te wahine kia whakaako, kia neke ake ranei tana tikanga i ta te tane, engari me ata noho.
13 Adam for first was formed, then Eve.
Ko Arama hoki kua hanga i mua, muri iho ko Iwi.
14 And Adam not was deceived, but the woman (having been deceived *N+kO) into transgression has come;
A kihai a Arama i tinihangatia, ko te wahine ia i tinihangatia, a taka ana ki te he.
15 She will be saved however through childbearing if they shall abide in faith and in love and in holiness with self-restraint.
