1 Thessalonians 3
1 Therefore no longer enduring we thought it best to be left behind in Athens alone
C’est pourquoi, impatients que nous étions, et nous décidant à rester seuls à Athènes,
2 and we sent Timothy the brother of us and (servant *KO) (and *K) fellow worker (of us *K) of God in the gospel of Christ in order to strengthen you and to encourage (you *k) (concerning *N+kO) the faith of you,
nous envoyâmes Timothée, notre frère, ministre de Dieu dans l’Évangile de Christ, pour vous affermir et vous exhorter au sujet de votre foi,
3 no one [is] to be moved by tribulations these; Yourselves for you know that for this we are destined;
afin que personne ne fût ébranlé au milieu des tribulations présentes; car vous savez vous-mêmes que nous sommes destinés à cela.
4 And indeed when with you we were, we were telling beforehand you that we are about to suffer affliction even as also it came to pass and you know;
Et lorsque nous étions auprès de vous, nous vous annoncions d’avance que nous serions exposés à des tribulations, comme cela est arrivé, et comme vous le savez.
5 Because of this I myself also I myself also no longer enduring I sent in order to know the faith of you, lest perhaps tempted you the [one] tempting and in vain may be the labor of us.
Ainsi, dans mon impatience, j’envoyai m’informer de votre foi, dans la crainte que le tentateur ne vous eût tentés, et que nous n’eussions travaillé en vain.
6 Presently however when was coming Timothy to us from you and having evangelised to us of the faith and the love of you and that you have a remembrance of us good always longing us to see just as also we ourselves you,
Mais Timothée, récemment arrivé ici de chez vous, nous a donné de bonnes nouvelles de votre foi et de votre charité, et nous a dit que vous avez toujours de nous un bon souvenir, désirant nous voir comme nous désirons aussi vous voir.
7 because of this we were encouraged, brothers, as to you in all the distress and tribulation of us through your faith;
En conséquence, frères, au milieu de toutes nos calamités et de nos tribulations, nous avons été consolés à votre sujet, à cause de votre foi.
8 For now we live, if you yourselves (are standing firm *N+kO) in [the] Lord.
Car maintenant nous vivons, puisque vous demeurez fermes dans le Seigneur.
9 What for thanksgiving are we able to God to give concerning you in return for all the joy that we rejoice because of you before the God of us,
Quelles actions de grâces, en effet, nous pouvons rendre à Dieu à votre sujet, pour toute la joie que nous éprouvons à cause de vous, devant notre Dieu!
10 by night and day super overexcessively super overexcessively super overexcessively imploring for [us] to see your face and to supply the [things] lacking in the faith of you?
Nuit et jour, nous le prions avec une extrême ardeur de nous permettre de vous voir, et de compléter ce qui manque à votre foi.
11 Himself now the God and Father of us and the Lord of us Jesus (Christ *K) would direct the way of us to you;
Que Dieu lui-même, notre Père, et notre Seigneur Jésus, aplanissent notre route pour que nous allions à vous!
12 You now the Lord would make to increase and He would abound in love toward one another and toward all just as also we ourselves toward you
Que le Seigneur augmente de plus en plus parmi vous, et à l’égard de tous, cette charité que nous avons nous-mêmes pour vous,
13 in order to strengthen your hearts blameless in holiness before the God and Father of us at the coming of the Lord of us Jesus (Christ *K) with all the saints of Him (Amen. *N)
afin d’affermir vos cœurs pour qu’ils soient irréprochables dans la sainteté devant Dieu notre Père, lors de l’avènement de notre Seigneur Jésus avec tous ses saints!
