< 1 John 4 >

1 Beloved, not every spirit do believe but do test the spirits whether of God they are, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 By this (you know *NK+O) the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses Jesus Christ in [the] flesh having come of God is.
īśvarīyo ya ātmā sa yuṣmābhiranena paricīyatāṁ, yīśuḥ khrīṣṭo narāvatāro bhūtvāgata etad yena kenacid ātmanā svīkriyate sa īśvarīyaḥ|
3 and any spirit that not confesses Jesus (Christ in flesh having come *K) from God not is; And this is that of the antichrist which you have heard that is coming and now in the world is already.
kintu yīśuḥ khrīṣṭo narāvatāro bhūtvāgata etad yena kenacid ātmanā nāṅgīkriyate sa īśvarīyo nahi kintu khrīṣṭārerātmā, tena cāgantavyamiti yuṣmābhiḥ śrutaṁ, sa cedānīmapi jagati varttate|
4 you yourselves from God are, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is the [One] in you than the [one] in the world.
he bālakāḥ, yūyam īśvarāt jātāstān jitavantaśca yataḥ saṁsārādhiṣṭhānakāriṇo 'pi yuṣmadadhiṣṭhānakārī mahān|
5 They themselves of the world are; because of this from out of the world they speak and the world to them listens.
te saṁsārāt jātāstato hetoḥ saṁsārād bhāṣante saṁsāraśca teṣāṁ vākyāni gṛhlāti|
6 We ourselves of God are; The [one] knowing God listens to us; He who not is from God not listens to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
vayam īśvarāt jātāḥ, īśvaraṁ yo jānāti so'smadvākyāni gṛhlāti yaśceśvarāt jāto nahi so'smadvākyāni na gṛhlāti; anena vayaṁ satyātmānaṁ bhrāmakātmānañca paricinumaḥ|
7 Beloved, we may love one another, because love from God is and everyone who is loving from God has been born and knows God;
he priyatamāḥ, vayaṁ parasparaṁ prema karavāma, yataḥ prema īśvarāt jāyate, aparaṁ yaḥ kaścit prema karoti sa īśvarāt jāta īśvaraṁ vetti ca|
8 The [one] not loving not has known God, because God love is.
yaḥ prema na karoti sa īśvaraṁ na jānāti yata īśvaraḥ premasvarūpaḥ|
9 In this has been revealed the love of God among us, that the Son of Him the one and only has sent God into the world so that we may live through Him.
asmāsvīśvarasya premaitena prākāśata yat svaputreṇāsmabhyaṁ jīvanadānārtham īśvaraḥ svīyam advitīyaṁ putraṁ jaganmadhyaṁ preṣitavān|
10 In this is love, not that we ourselves (have loved *N+kO) God, but that He himself loved us and He sent the Son of Him [as] a propitiation for the sins of us.
vayaṁ yad īśvare prītavanta ityatra nahi kintu sa yadasmāsu prītavān asmatpāpānāṁ prāyaścirttārthaṁ svaputraṁ preṣitavāṁścetyatra prema santiṣṭhate|
11 Beloved, if so God loved us, also we ourselves ought one another to love;
he priyatamāḥ, asmāsu yadīśvareṇaitādṛśaṁ prema kṛtaṁ tarhi parasparaṁ prema karttum asmākamapyucitaṁ|
12 God no [one] at any time has seen; if we shall love one another, God in us abides and the love of Him in us perfected is.
īśvaraḥ kadāca kenāpi na dṛṣṭaḥ yadyasmābhiḥ parasparaṁ prema kriyate tarhīśvaro 'smanmadhye tiṣṭhati tasya prema cāsmāsu setsyate|
13 By this we know that in Him we abide and He in us, because from out the Spirit of Him He has given to us.
asmabhyaṁ tena svakīyātmanoṁ'śo datta ityanena vayaṁ yat tasmin tiṣṭhāmaḥ sa ca yad asmāsu tiṣṭhatīti jānīmaḥ|
14 And we ourselves have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son [as] Savior of the world.
pitā jagatrātāraṁ putraṁ preṣitavān etad vayaṁ dṛṣṭvā pramāṇayāmaḥ|
15 Who[ever] (maybe *N+kO) shall confess that Jesus (Christ *O) is the Son of God, God in him abides and he in God.
yīśurīśvarasya putra etad yenāṅgīkriyate tasmin īśvarastiṣṭhati sa ceśvare tiṣṭhati|
16 And we ourselves have come to know and we have come to believe the love that has God as to us. God love is, and the [one] abiding in love in God abides, and God in him (abides. *NO)
asmāsvīśvarasya yat prema varttate tad vayaṁ jñātavantastasmin viśvāsitavantaśca| īśvaraḥ premasvarūpaḥ premnī yastiṣṭhati sa īśvare tiṣṭhati tasmiṁśceśvarastiṣṭhati|
17 In this has been perfected love with us, so that confidence we may have in the day of judgment, that even as He is also we ourselves are in world this.
sa yādṛśo 'sti vayamapyetasmin jagati tādṛśā bhavāma etasmād vicāradine 'smābhi ryā pratibhā labhyate sāsmatsambandhīyasya premnaḥ siddhiḥ|
18 Fear no there is in love, but perfect love out casts fear, because the fear punishment has; the [one] now fearing not has been perfected in love.
premni bhīti rna varttate kintu siddhaṁ prema bhītiṁ nirākaroti yato bhītiḥ sayātanāsti bhīto mānavaḥ premni siddho na jātaḥ|
19 We ourselves love (him *K) because He himself first loved us.
asmāsu sa prathamaṁ prītavān iti kāraṇād vayaṁ tasmin prīyāmahe|
20 If anyone shall say that I love God and the brother of him may hate, a liar he is; The [one] for not loving the brother of him whom he has seen, God whom not he has seen (not *N+KO) is he able to love;
īśvare 'haṁ prīya ityuktvā yaḥ kaścit svabhrātaraṁ dveṣṭi so 'nṛtavādī| sa yaṁ dṛṣṭavān tasmin svabhrātari yadi na prīyate tarhi yam īśvaraṁ na dṛṣṭavān kathaṁ tasmin prema karttuṁ śaknuyāt?
21 And this the commandment we have from Him, that the [one] loving God may love also the brother of him.
ata īśvare yaḥ prīyate sa svīyabhrātaryyapi prīyatām iyam ājñā tasmād asmābhi rlabdhā|
