1 Corinthians 14
1 do earnestly pursue love; do earnestly desire now spiritual gifts, especially now that you may prophesy.
Recherchez la charité. Aspirez néanmoins aux dons spirituels, mais surtout à celui de prophétie.
2 The [one] for speaking in a tongue not to men speaks but to God; no [one] for hears, in the Spirit however he utters mysteries;
En effet, celui qui parle en langue ne parle pas aux hommes, mais à Dieu, car personne ne le comprend, et c'est en esprit qu'il dit des mystères.
3 The [one] however prophesying to men speaks [for] edification and encouragement and consolation.
Celui qui prophétise au contraire, parle aux hommes, les édifie, les exhorte, les console.
4 The [one] speaking in a tongue himself edifies, the [one] however prophesying [the] church edifies.
Celui qui parle en langue s'édifie lui-même; celui qui prophétise édifie l'Eglise [de Dieu].
5 I desire now all you to speak in tongues, rather however that you may prophesy; greater [is] (now *N+kO) the [one] prophesying than the [one] speaking in tongues except only unless (he shall interpret, *NK+o) so that the church edification may receive.
Je désire que vous parliez tous en langues, mais encore plus que vous prophétisiez; car celui qui prophétise est plus grand que celui qui parle en langues, à moins que ce dernier n'interprète ce qu'il dit, pour que l'Eglise en reçoive de l'édification.
6 (now *N+kO) however brothers, if I shall come to you in tongues speaking, what you will I profit, only unless to you I shall speak either in revelation or in knowledge or in prophecy or in teaching?
Voyons, frères, de quelle utilité vous serais-je, si je venais à vous parlant en langues, et si je ne vous parle pas par révélation, ou par science, ou par prophétie, ou par doctrine?
7 Even lifeless things a sound giving, whether flute or harp, if distinction to the sounds not (they shall give, *NK+O) how will it be known what is being piped or what is being harped?
Si les objets inanimés qui rendent un son, comme une flûte ou une harpe, ne rendent pas des sons distincts, comment connaîtra-t-on ce qui est joué sur la flûte ou sur la harpe?
8 Also for if indistinct [the] trumpet sound shall give, who will prepare himself for battle?
Et si la trompette rend un son confus, qui se préparera au combat?
9 So also you yourselves with the tongue only unless intelligible speech you shall give, how will it be known what [is] being spoken? You will be for into [the] air speaking.
De même vous, si vous ne faites pas entendre avec la langue une parole distincte, comment saura-t-on ce que vous dites? Vous parlerez en l'air.
10 So many if it would be kinds of languages (there are *N+kO) in [the] world, and none (of them *k) without meaning;
Quelque nombreuses que puissent être dans le monde les diverses langues, il n'en est aucune qui consiste en sons inintelligibles.
11 If therefore not I shall know the power of the sound, I will be to the [one] speaking a foreigner and the [one] speaking to me myself a foreigner;
Si donc j'ignore la valeur du son, je serai un barbare pour celui qui parle, et celui qui parle sera un barbare pour moi.
12 So also you yourselves, since zealous you are of spiritual gifts, for the edification of the church do seek that you may exceed.
De même vous aussi, puisque vous aspirez aux dons spirituels, que ce soit pour l'édification de l'Eglise que vous cherchiez à en avoir abondamment.
13 (For *N+kO) the [one] speaking in a tongue he should pray that he may interpret.
C'est pourquoi, que celui qui parle en langue prie pour obtenir le don d'interpréter.
14 If for I shall pray in a tongue, the spirit of mine prays, but the mind of mine unfruitful is.
Car si je prie en langue, mon esprit est en prière, mais mon intelligence demeure sans fruit.
15 What then is it? I will pray with the spirit, I will pray however also with the mind; I will sing praise with the spirit, I will sing praise however also with the mind.
Que faire donc? Je prierai avec l'esprit, mais je prierai aussi avec l'intelligence; je chanterai avec l'esprit, mais je chanterai aussi avec l'intelligence.
16 Otherwise if (you shall bless in [the] *N+kO) spirit, the [one] filling the place of the uninstructed how will he say the Amen at your thanksgiving? since what you say [is that] not he knows;
Autrement, si tu rends grâces avec l'esprit, comment celui qui est dans les rangs de l'homme du peuple répondra-t-il " Amen! " à ton action de grâces, puisqu'il ne sait pas ce que tu dis?
17 You yourself truly for well are giving thanks, but the other not is edified.
Ton hymne d'action de grâces est sans doute fort beau; mais lui n'en est pas édifié.
18 I thank the God (of mine *k) than all of you more (in tongues *NK+O) (speaking; *N+kO)
Je rends grâces à [mon] Dieu de ce que je parle en langues plus que vous tous;
19 but in [the] church I desire five words (through *k) (the with mind *N+kO) of mine to speak that also others I may instruct, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.
mais, dans l'Eglise, j'aime mieux dire cinq paroles avec mon intelligence, afin d'instruire aussi les autres, que dix mille paroles en langue.
20 Brothers, not children do be in the minds, Yet in the evil do be little children, in the however thinking full grown do be.
Frères, ne soyez pas des enfants sous le rapport du jugement; mais faites-vous enfants sous le rapport de la malice, et, pour le jugement, soyez des hommes faits.
21 In the law it has been written that By other tongues and by lips (of others *N+KO) I will speak to the people this, and not even thus will they hear Me, says [the] Lord.
Il est écrit dans la Loi: " C'est par des hommes d'une autre langue et par des lèvres étrangères que je parlerai à ce peuple, et même ainsi ils ne m'écouteront pas, dit le Seigneur. "
22 So then tongues for a sign are not to those believing but to the unbelieving, but prophecy [is] not to the unbelieving but to the believing.
C'est donc que les langues sont un signe, non pour les croyants, mais pour les infidèles; la prophétie, au contraire, est un signe, non pour les infidèles, mais pour les croyants.
23 If therefore shall gather the church whole together the place and all shall speak in tongues may come in however uninstructed ones or unbelievers, surely they will say that you are mad?
Si donc, l'Eglise entière se trouvant réunie en assemblée, tous parlent en langues, et qu'il survienne des hommes non initiés ou des infidèles, ne diront-ils pas que vous êtes des fous?
24 If however all shall prophesy, shall come in then some unbeliever or uninstructed, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all,
Mais si tous prophétisent, et qu'il survienne un infidèle ou un homme non initié, il est convaincu par tous, il est jugé par tous,
25 (and thus *K) the secrets of the heart of him manifest become, And thus having fallen upon [his] face he will worship God declaring that certainly God among you is.
les secrets de son cœur sont dévoilés, de telle sorte que, tombant sur sa face, il adorera Dieu, et publiera que Dieu est vraiment au milieu de vous.
26 What then is it, brothers? When you may come together, each (of you *K) a psalm has, a teaching has, a revelation has, a tongue has, an interpretation has; All things for edification (should be. *N+kO)
Que faire donc, mes frères? Lorsque vous vous assemblez, tel d'entre vous a un cantique, tel une instruction, tel une révélation, tel un discours en langue, tel une interprétation, que tout se passe de manière à édifier.
27 If with a tongue anyone speaks, [let it be] by two or the most three and in turn; and one should interpret;
Si l'on parle en langue, que ce soient chaque fois deux ou trois au plus, chacun à son tour, et qu'il y ait un interprète;
28 If however not there shall be an interpreter, he should be silent in [the] church, to himself then he should speak and to God.
s'il n'y a point d'interprète, qu'on se taise dans l'assemblée et qu'on se parle à soi-même et à Dieu.
29 Prophets then two or three should speak, and the others should discern;
Pour les prophètes, qu'il y en ait deux ou trois à parler, et que les autres jugent;
30 If however to another a revelation shall be made sitting by, the first should be silent.
et si un autre, qui est assis, a une révélation, que le premier se taise.
31 You are able for [one] by one all to prophesy, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted;
Car vous pouvez tous prophétiser l'un après l'autre, afin que tous soient instruits et que tous soient exhortés.
32 And spirits of prophets to prophets are subject;
Or les esprits des prophètes sont soumis aux prophètes,
33 Not for He is of disorder the God but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
car Dieu n'est pas un Dieu de désordre, mais de paix. Comme cela a eu lieu dans toutes les Eglises des saints,
34 the women (of you *K) in the churches they should be silent; Not for (it is allowed *N+kO) to them to speak, but (they should be submitted *N+kO) even as also the law says.
que vos femmes se taisent dans les assemblées, car elles n'ont pas mission de parler; mais qu'elles soient soumises, comme le dit aussi la Loi.
35 If however anything (to learn *NK+o) they desire, at home [their] own husbands they should ask; shameful for it is (for a woman *N+KO) to speak in [the] church.
Si elles veulent s'instruire sur quelque point, qu'elles interrogent leurs maris à la maison; car il est malséant à une femme de parler dans une assemblée.
36 Or from you the word of God has gone out? Or to you only has it come?
Est-ce de chez vous que la parole de Dieu est sortie? ou est-ce à vous seuls qu'elle est parvenue?
37 If anyone considers a prophet himself to be or spiritual, he should recognize [the] things I write to you that (of the *k) Lord (is [the] command; *N+KO)
Si quelqu'un croit être prophète ou riche en dons spirituels, qu'il reconnaisse que ces choses que je vous ai écrites sont des commandements du Seigneur.
38 If however anyone is ignorant, (him is ignored. *N+kO)
Et s'il veut l'ignorer, qu'il l'ignore.
39 So, brothers (of mine, *no) do earnestly desire to prophesy, and to speak not do forbid in tongues.
Ainsi donc, mes frères, aspirez au don de prophétie, et n'empêchez pas de parler en langue.
40 All things (however *no) properly and with order should be done.
Mais que tout se fasse avec bienséance et avec ordre.
