Zechariah 5

1 And once more lifted I mine eyes, and looked, —and lo! a Flying Volume.

Aku memperhatikan lagi, dan kali ini kulihat sebuah kitab gulungan terbang di udara.

2 And he said unto me, What canst thou see? So I said, I, can see a flying volume, the length thereof, twenty by the cubit, and, the breadth thereof, ten by the cubit.

Malaikat itu menanyakan apa yang kulihat. Jawabku, "Sebuah kitab gulungan terbang di udara. Panjangnya sembilan meter dan lebarnya empat setengah meter."

3 Then said he unto me, This, is the curse, which is going forth over the face of all the earth, —Because, every one who stealeth, on the one side, hath in one way been let off, and, every one who sweareth, on the other side, hath in another way been let off,

Lalu ia berkata kepadaku, "Pada kitab gulungan itu tertulis kutukan terhadap seluruh negeri ini. Pada satu muka tertulis bahwa setiap pencuri akan dikeluarkan dari negeri ini. Dan pada muka lainnya tertulis bahwa setiap orang yang bersumpah palsu juga akan dikeluarkan.

4 [therefore] have I brought it forth, Declareth Yahweh of hosts, And it shall enter—into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth by my name, falsely, —and it shall roost in the midst of his house, and shall consume it, both the timbers thereof, and the stones thereof.

TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa berkata bahwa kutukan itu akan ditimpakannya ke atas rumah setiap pencuri dan rumah setiap orang yang bersumpah palsu. Rumah-rumah itu akan terus kena kutukan itu sampai menjadi puing-puing."

5 Then came forward, the messenger who was talking with me, —and said unto me—Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see what this is which is coming forth.

Malaikat itu muncul lagi dan berkata, "Lihat! Ada lagi yang datang!"

6 And I said, What is it? Then said he, This, is an ephah that is coming forth. And he said, This, is their iniquity, throughout all the land.

"Apa itu?" tanyaku. Jawabnya, "Sebuah keranjang. Itulah lambang dosa dari seluruh negeri ini."

7 And lo! a leaden disc uplifted, —and here a certain woman, sitting inside the ephah.

Keranjang itu mempunyai tutup dari timah. Sementara kuperhatikan, tutup itu terangkat dan ternyata di dalam keranjang itu duduk seorang wanita.

8 Then said he, This, is Lawlessness. So he thrust her back inside the ephah, —and then thrust the leaden weight into the mouth thereof.

Malaikat itu berkata, "Wanita ini melambangkan kejahatan." Lalu ditekannya wanita itu kembali ke dalam keranjang dan ditutupnya keranjang itu.

9 Then lifted I up mine eyes and looked, and lo! Two Women coming forward, with the wind in their wings, and, they, had wings, like the wings of the stork, —and bare up the ephah, between the earth and the heavens.

Aku menengok ke atas dan melihat dua wanita terbang ke arahku. Mereka mempunyai sayap yang kokoh seperti sayap burung bangau. Keranjang tadi mereka ambil lalu mereka bawa terbang.

10 Then said I unto the messenger who was speaking with me, —Whither are they carrying the ephah?

Aku bertanya kepada malaikat itu, "Ke mana mereka bawa keranjang itu?"

11 And he said unto me, To build for it a house in the land of Shinar, —so shall it be ready, and they shall settle it there, upon its own base?

Jawabnya, "Ke Babel, di sana mereka akan membangun kuil baginya. Jika kuil itu selesai, keranjang itu akan ditempatkan di situ untuk disembah."
