1 Be putting them in mind, unto rulerships, unto authorities, to be in submission, to be yielding to rule, for every good work, to be, prepared,
tE yathA dEzAdhipAnAM zAsakAnAnjca nighnA AjnjAgrAhiNzca sarvvasmai satkarmmaNE susajjAzca bhavEyuH
2 To be defaming, no one, to be, averse to strife, considerate, shewing, all, meekness unto all men.
kamapi na nindEyu rnivvirOdhinaH kSAntAzca bhavEyuH sarvvAn prati ca pUrNaM mRdutvaM prakAzayEyuzcEti tAn Adiza|
3 For, even we, used, at one time, to be—thoughtless, unyielding, deceived, in servitude unto manifold covetings and pleasures, in malice and envy, leading on, detestable, hating one another.
yataH pUrvvaM vayamapi nirbbOdhA anAjnjAgrAhiNO bhrAntA nAnAbhilASANAM sukhAnAnjca dAsEyA duSTatvErSyAcAriNO ghRNitAH parasparaM dvESiNazcAbhavAmaH|
4 But, when, the graciousness and affection for man of our Saviour God, shone forth,
kintvasmAkaM trAturIzvarasya yA dayA marttyAnAM prati ca yA prItistasyAH prAdurbhAvE jAtE
5 Not by works which we had done in righteousness, but, according to his mercy, he saved us—through means of the bathing of a new birth, and the moulding anew of Holy Spirit.—
vayam AtmakRtEbhyO dharmmakarmmabhyastannahi kintu tasya kRpAtaH punarjanmarUpENa prakSAlanEna pravitrasyAtmanO nUtanIkaraNEna ca tasmAt paritrANAM prAptAH
6 Which he poured on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,
sa cAsmAkaM trAtrA yIzukhrISTEnAsmadupari tam AtmAnaM pracuratvEna vRSTavAn|
7 In order that, having been declared righteous by his favour, we should be made inheritors, according to hope, of life age-abiding. (aiōnios )
itthaM vayaM tasyAnugrahENa sapuNyIbhUya pratyAzayAnantajIvanasyAdhikAriNO jAtAH| (aiōnios )
8 Faithful, the saying! And, concerning these things, I am minded that thou be strongly affirming, in order that they who have believed God may be careful to be forward, in noble works. These things, are honourable, and profitable unto men;
vAkyamEtad vizvasanIyam atO hEtOrIzvarE yE vizvasitavantastE yathA satkarmmANyanutiSThEyustathA tAn dRPham AjnjApayEti mamAbhimataM|tAnyEvOttamAni mAnavEbhyaH phaladAni ca bhavanti|
9 But, foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strife, and contentions about matters of law, avoid, for they are unprofitable and vain.
mUPhEbhyaH praznavaMzAvalivivAdEbhyO vyavasthAyA vitaNPAbhyazca nivarttasva yatastA niSphalA anarthakAzca bhavanti|
10 From a party-man, after a first and second admonition, excuse thyself;
yO janO bibhitsustam EkavAraM dvirvvA prabOdhya dUrIkuru,
11 Knowing that such a one is perverted, and sinneth, being self-condemned.
yatastAdRzO janO vipathagAmI pApiSTha AtmadOSakazca bhavatIti tvayA jnjAyatAM|
12 As soon as I shall send Artemus unto thee, or Tychicus, give diligence to come to me unto Nicopolis; for, there, have I determined to winter.
yadAham ArttimAM tukhikaM vA tava samIpaM prESayiSyAmi tadA tvaM nIkapalau mama samIpam AgantuM yatasva yatastatraivAhaM zItakAlaM yApayituM matim akArSaM|
13 Zenas the lawyer, and Apollos, do thou diligently set forward on their way, in order that, nothing, unto them, may be wanting.
vyavasthApakaH sInA ApalluzcaitayOH kasyApyabhAvO yanna bhavEt tadarthaM tau yatnEna tvayA visRjyEtAM|
14 Moreover, let our own learn to be forward, in honourable works, for the necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.
aparam asmadIyalOkA yanniSphalA na bhavEyustadarthaM prayOjanIyOpakArAyA satkarmmANyanuSThAtuM zikSantAM|
15 All they who are with me salute thee. Salute thou them who regard us with faithful affection. Favour, be with you all.
mama sagginaH savvE tvAM namaskurvvatE| yE vizvAsAd asmAsu prIyantE tAn namaskuru; sarvvESu yuSmAsvanugrahO bhUyAt| AmEn|
