Ruth 2
1 Now, Naomi, had an acquaintance of her husband’s, a man of great integrity, of the family of Elimelech, —whose name, was Boaz.
നവൊമിയുടെ ഭർത്താവായ എലീമെലെക്കിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ധനവാനും ആദരണീയനുമായ ഒരു ബന്ധു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേര് ബോവസ് എന്നായിരുന്നു.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi—Let me go, I pray thee, to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose eyes I may find favour. And she said to her—Go, my daughter.
മോവാബ്യയായ രൂത്ത് നവൊമിയോട്, “എന്നോട് ദയതോന്നി എനിക്ക് അനുവാദം തരുന്ന ആരുടെയെങ്കിലും വയലിൽ കാലാപെറുക്കാൻ ഞാൻ പോകട്ടെ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. നവൊമി അവളോട്, “എന്റെ മോളേ, പോയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3 So she went her way, and came, and gleaned in the field, after the reapers, —and it happened to her, to light upon the portion of field-land belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
അങ്ങനെ അവൾ പുറപ്പെട്ട് വയലിൽ കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ പിറകേ നടന്ന് കാലാപെറുക്കി. അവൾ എലീമെലെക്കിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിലുള്ള ബോവസിന്റെ വയലിൽ ജോലിക്ക് എത്തിച്ചേർന്നു എന്നനിലയിൽ കാര്യങ്ങൾ സംഭവിച്ചു.
4 And lo! Boaz coming from Bethlehem, and he said to the reapers, Yahweh, be with you! and they said to him, Yahweh bless thee!
ആ സമയത്തുതന്നെ ബോവസ് ബേത്ലഹേമിൽനിന്നു വന്നു; അദ്ദേഹം കൊയ്ത്തുകാരെ അഭിവാദ്യംചെയ്ത്, “യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “യഹോവ അങ്ങയെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ!” എന്ന് അവരും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 Then said Boaz to his young man, that was set over the reapers, —Whose is this maiden?
ബോവസ് കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ മേൽനോട്ടക്കാരനായ ഭൃത്യനോട്: “ആ യുവതി ഏതു കുടുംബത്തിലെയാണ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
6 And the young man that was set over the reapers answered and said, —The Moabitish maiden, is she who came back with Naomi, out of the country of Moab;
മേൽനോട്ടക്കാരൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “നവൊമിയോടൊപ്പം മോവാബിൽനിന്നു വന്ന മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയാണവൾ.
7 and she said—Let me glean, I pray thee, and gather among the sheaves, after the reapers; so she came in, and hath continued from that time, all the morning until just now, and hath not rested in the house, for a little.
‘കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ പിന്നാലെ കാലാപെറുക്കാൻ ദയവായി എന്നെ അനുവദിച്ചാലും’ എന്ന് അവൾ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവൾ രാവിലെമുതൽ വയലിൽ കാലാപെറുക്കുന്നു. അൽപ്പസമയമേ അവൾ വിശ്രമിച്ചുള്ളൂ” എന്ന് ഉത്തരംനൽകി.
8 And Boaz said unto Ruth—Hearest thou not, my daughter? Do not go to glean in any other field, neither indeed shalt thou pass on, from hence, —but, here, shalt thou keep fast by my maidens:
അപ്പോൾ ബോവസ് രൂത്തിനോട്: “എന്റെ മോളേ, ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക. കാലാപെറുക്കാൻ മറ്റൊരു വയലിൽ പോകേണ്ട. ഇവിടം വിട്ടുപോകുകയേ വേണ്ട. ഇവിടെ എന്റെ ജോലിക്കാരൊടൊപ്പം കൂടിക്കൊള്ളൂ.
9 thine eyes, be on the field which they shall reap, and go thou after them, Have I not commanded the young men, that they touch thee not? And, when thou art athirst, then go unto the vessels, and drink of what the young men shall draw.
കൊയ്ത്തുകാരായ പുരുഷന്മാർ കൊയ്യുന്ന സ്ഥലം ശ്രദ്ധിച്ച്, ജോലിക്കാരികളോടൊപ്പം പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ. നിന്നെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കരുതെന്ന് ജോലിക്കാരായ യുവാക്കളോട് ഞാൻ കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിനക്കു ദാഹിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെ, അവർ വെള്ളം കോരിനിറച്ച പാത്രങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് കോരി കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ളൂ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10 Then she fell upon her face, and bowed herself to the ground, —and said unto him—Wherefore have I found favour in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take notice of me, seeing that, I, am, a stranger?
ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവൾ സാഷ്ടാംഗപ്രണാമം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “ഞാൻ ഒരു അന്യദേശക്കാരിയായിട്ടും എന്നെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം അങ്ങേക്ക് എന്നോടു ദയ തോന്നിയത് എന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
11 And Boaz answered, and said to her, It hath been, told, me—all that thou hast done unto thy mother-in-law, since the death of thy husband, —and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and come unto a people whom thou knewest not, aforetime.
മറുപടിയായി, “നിന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന്റെ മരണശേഷം നീ നിന്റെ അമ്മായിയമ്മയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്ത കാര്യങ്ങളും നീ നിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെയും നിന്റെ സ്വന്തം ദേശത്തെയും വിട്ടിട്ട് നിനക്ക് അപരിചിതമായ ഒരു ജനത്തിന്റെ മധ്യത്തിൽ പാർക്കുന്നതും ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
12 Yahweh recompense thy deed, —and let thy reward be full from Yahweh, the God of Israel, unto whom thou hast come to take refuge under his wings.
നീ ചെയ്തതിനു തക്കവണ്ണം യഹോവ നിനക്കു പ്രതിഫലം തരട്ടെ. ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ചിറകിൻകീഴിൽ നീ ശരണം പ്രാപിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാൽ അവിടന്ന് നിന്നെ അത്യധികമായി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു ബോവസ് പറഞ്ഞു.
13 And she said—Let me find favour in thine eyes, my lord, for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy handmaid, —though, I, be not as, one of thine own handmaidens.
“യജമാനനേ, എനിക്കു തുടർന്നും അങ്ങയുടെ കണ്ണിൽനിന്നു ദയ ലഭിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ. ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഒരാളല്ലെങ്കിൽപോലും അങ്ങ് എന്നോട് കരുണാപൂർവം സംസാരിച്ച് എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And Boaz said to her at mealtime—Draw nigh hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. So she sat beside the reapers, and there was reached to her parched corn, and she did eat and was satisfied, and left thereof remaining.
ഭക്ഷണസമയത്ത് ബോവസ് അവളോട്, “ഇവിടെ വന്ന് ഇരുന്നുകൊള്ളൂ; അപ്പം എടുത്തു പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞിൽ മുക്കി കഴിച്ചോളൂ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ കൊയ്ത്തുകാരോടൊപ്പം ഇരുന്നപ്പോൾ, ബോവസ് അവൾക്കു മലർ കൊടുത്തു. അവൾക്ക് ആവശ്യമുള്ളടത്തോളം ഭക്ഷിച്ചു, കുറച്ച് അധികം വരികയും ചെയ്തു.
15 And, when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying—Even between the sheaves, let her glean, and reproach her not;
അവൾ വീണ്ടും കാലാപെറുക്കാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോൾ ബോവസ് ഭൃത്യന്മാരോട്, “അവൾ കറ്റകൾക്കിടയിൽനിന്ന് പെറുക്കിയാൽപോലും അവളെ ശാസിക്കരുത്.
16 yea moreover, draw out, for her, from the bundles, —and leave behind that she may glean it, and rebuke her not.
കറ്റകളിൽനിന്നും അവൾക്കു പെറുക്കാൻവേണ്ടി കതിർക്കുലകൾ മനഃപൂർവം നിലത്തു വലിച്ചിട്ടുകൊടുക്കുക, അവളെ ശകാരിക്കരുത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 So she gleaned in the field, until the evening, —and beat out that which she had gleaned, and there was about an ephah of barley.
അങ്ങനെ സന്ധ്യയാകുംവരെ രൂത്ത് കാലാപെറുക്കി. അതിനുശേഷം അവൾ ശേഖരിച്ച കതിരുമെതിച്ചു, അത് ഒരു ഏഫായോളം യവം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
18 And she took it up, and came into the city, and, when her mother-in-law had seen what she had gleaned, she brought forth and gave her what had been left remaining, after that she was satisfied.
അവൾ അതു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവൾ എത്രമാത്രം ശേഖരിച്ചെന്ന് അവളുടെ അമ്മായിയമ്മ മനസ്സിലാക്കി. താൻ ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ട് ശേഷിച്ച ധാന്യംകൂടി കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് രൂത്ത് അവൾക്കുകൊടുത്തു.
19 And her mother-in-law said to her—In what place hast thou gleaned, today? and where hast thou wrought? May he that took notice of thee, be blessed! So she told her mother-in-law, with whom she had wrought, and said—The name of the man with whom I wrought today, is Boaz.
അവളുടെ അമ്മായിയമ്മ: “ഇന്നു നീ എവിടെയായിരുന്നു കാലാപെറുക്കിയത്? നീ പണിചെയ്തത് എവിടെയാണ്? നിന്നോട് കരുണ കാട്ടിയവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ രൂത്ത് അവൾ അന്നു വേലചെയ്ത സ്ഥലത്തെ യജമാനനെക്കുറിച്ച് അമ്മായിയമ്മയോടു പറഞ്ഞു, “ബോവസ് എന്നയാളുടെ അടുക്കലാണു ഞാൻ ഇന്നു വേലചെയ്തത്” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
20 Then said Naomi, to her daughter-in-law—Blessed, be he of Yahweh, who hath not left off his lovingkindness to the living, and to the dead. And Naomi said to her—Near to us, is the man, of our own kinsmen, is he!
“യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ!” നവൊമി തന്റെ മരുമകളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരോടും മരിച്ചവരോടും കരുണ കാണിക്കുന്നത് അവിടന്ന് നിർത്തിയിട്ടില്ല.” അവൾ പിന്നെയും, “അദ്ദേഹം നമ്മുടെ അടുത്ത ബന്ധുവും നമ്മുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരിൽ ഒരുവനുമാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, —Yea for he said unto me—By my young men, shalt thou keep fast, until they have ended all my harvest.
അപ്പോൾ മോവാബ്യയായ രൂത്ത്: “‘കൊയ്ത്തുകാർ, എന്റെ ധാന്യംമുഴുവനും കൊയ്തുതീരുംവരെ അവരോടൊപ്പം കൂടിക്കൊള്ളൂ’ എന്നും യജമാനൻ അറിയിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, —Good, is it, my daughter, that thou go forth with his maidens, and that they meet thee not, in any other field.
നവൊമി തന്റെ മരുമകളായ രൂത്തിനോട്: “മോളേ, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ജോലിക്കാരികളോടൊപ്പം പണിയെടുക്കുന്നതാണു നിനക്കു നല്ലത്; കാരണം മറ്റൊരാളുടെ വയലിൽ നീ ചിലപ്പോൾ ഉപദ്രവിക്കപ്പെട്ടേക്കാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz, to glean, until the end of the barley harvest, and the wheat harvest, —and dwelt with her mother-in-law.
അങ്ങനെ രൂത്ത് ബോവസിന്റെ വേലക്കാരികളോടൊപ്പം യവവും ഗോതമ്പും കൊയ്തുതീരുംവരെ പണിയെടുത്തു. അവൾ അമ്മായിയമ്മയോടൊപ്പം താമസിച്ചു.
