Revelation 6
1 And I saw, when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder—Go!
Et je vis l’Agneau qui ouvrit le premier des sept sceaux, et j’entendis l’un des quatre animaux qui disait comme d’une voix de tonnerre: « Viens! »
2 And I saw, and lo! a white horse, —and he that was sitting thereon holding a bow; and there was given unto him a crown, and he went forth conquering, and that he might conquer.
Et je vis paraître un cheval blanc. Celui qui le montait avait un arc; on lui donna une couronne, et il partit en vainqueur et pour vaincre.
3 And, when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature, saying—Go!
Et quand il eut ouvert le deuxième sceau, j’entendis le second animal qui disait: « Viens! »
4 And there went forth another, a red horse, —and, unto him that was sitting thereon, it was given, [unto him], to take away peace from the earth, and that, one another, they should slay; and there was given unto him a great sword.
Et il sortit un autre cheval qui était roux. Celui qui le montait reçut le pouvoir d’ôter la paix de la terre, afin que les hommes s’égorgeassent les uns les autres, et on lui donna une grande épée.
5 And, when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature, saying—Go! And I saw, and lo! a black horse, and he that was sitting thereon holding a pair of balances in his hand.
Et quand il eut ouvert le troisième sceau, j’entendis le troisième animal qui disait: « Viens! » Et je vis paraître un cheval noir. Celui qui le montait tenait à la main une balance;
6 And I heard as a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying—A quart of wheat for, a denary, and three quarts of barley, for a denary, —and, the oil and the wine, do not wrong.
et j’entendis au milieu des quatre animaux comme une voix qui disait: « Une mesure de blé pour un denier! Trois mesures d’orge pour un denier! » Et: « Ne gâte pas l’huile et le vin! »
7 And, when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature, saying—Go!
Et quand il eut ouvert le quatrième sceau, j’entendis la voix du quatrième animal qui disait: « Viens! »
8 And I saw, and lo! a livid horse, —and he that was sitting thereupon had for a name, Death, and, Hades, was following with him; and there was given unto them authority over the fourth of the earth, to slay with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth. Et je vis paraître un cheval de couleur pâle. Celui qui le montait se nommait la Mort, et l’Enfer le suivait. On leur donna pouvoir sur la quatrième partie de la terre, pour faire tuer par l’épée, par la famine, par la mortalité et par les bêtes féroces de la terre. (Hadēs g86)
9 And, when he opened the fifth seal, I saw, beneath the altar, the souls of them who had been slain because of the word of God and because of the witness which they held.
Et quand il eut ouvert le cinquième sceau, je vis sous l’autel les âmes de ceux qui avaient été immolés pour la parole de Dieu et pour le témoignage qu’ils avaient eu à rendre.
10 And they cried out with a loud voice, saying—How long, O Sovereign, the Holy and True, dost thou not vindicate and avenge our blood from them that dwell upon the earth?
Et ils crièrent d’une voix forte, en disant: « Jusques à quand, ô Maître Saint et Véritable, ne ferez-vous pas justice et ne redemanderez-vous pas notre sang à ceux qui habitent sur la terre? »
11 And there was given to them, each one, a white robe, and it was bidden them, that they should rest yet a little while—until the number should be made full of their fellow-servants also, and their brethren, who were about to be slain as even, they.
Alors on leur donna à chacun une robe blanche, et on leur dit de se tenir en repos encore un peu de temps, jusqu’à ce que fût complet le nombre de leurs compagnons de service et de leurs frères qui devaient être mis à mort comme eux.
12 And I saw, when he opened the sixth seal, that a, great earthquake, took place; and, the sun, became black as sackcloth of hair, and, the full moon, became as blood,
Et je vis, quand il eut ouvert le sixième sceau, qu’il se fit un grand tremblement de terre, et le soleil devint noir comme un sac de crin, la lune entière parut comme du sang,
13 and, the stars of heaven, fell to the earth, as, a fig-tree, sheddeth her winter figs, when, by a great wind, it is shaken,
et les étoiles du ciel tombèrent vers la terre, comme les figues vertes tombent d’un figuier secoué par un gros vent.
14 and, the heaven, was withdrawn, as a scroll rolling itself up, and, every mountain and island, out of their places, were shaken.
Et le ciel se retira comme un livre qu’on roule, et toutes les montagnes et les îles furent remuées de leur place.
15 And, the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rulers of thousands, and the rich, and the mighty, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves within the caves and within the rocks of the mountains;
Et les rois de la terre, et les grands, et les généraux, et les riches, et les puissants, et tout esclave ou homme libre se cachèrent dans les cavernes et les rochers des montagnes,
16 and they say, unto the mountains and unto the rocks—Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth upon the throne, and from the anger of the Lamb;
et ils disaient aux montagnes et aux rochers: « Tombez sur nous et dérobez-nous à la face de Celui qui est assis sur le trône et à la colère de l’Agneau;
17 Because the great day of their anger is come, and who is able to stand?
car il est venu le grand jour de sa colère, et qui peut subsister? »
