Psalms 20

1 To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. Yahweh answer thee, in the day of distress, The Name of the God of Jacob give thee safety;

Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm von David. Jehova erhöre dich am Tage der Drangsal, der Name des Gottes Jakobs setze dich in Sicherheit;

2 Send thy help out of the sanctuary, and, out of Zion, sustain thee;

Er sende deine Hilfe aus dem Heiligtum, und von Zion aus unterstütze er dich;

3 Remember every present of thine, and, thine ascending-sacrifice, esteem. (Selah)

Er gedenke aller deiner Speisopfer, und dein Brandopfer wolle er annehmen! (Sela)

4 Give thee according to thy heart, and, all thy purposes, fulfil.

Er gebe dir nach deinem Herzen, und alle deine Ratschläge erfülle er!

5 We will shout aloud in thy salvation, and, in the Name of our God, shall we become great, Yahweh fulfil all thy petitions.

Jubeln wollen wir über deine Rettung, und im Namen unseres Gottes das Panier erheben. Jehova erfülle alle deine Bitten!

6 Now, do I know that Yahweh, hath saved, his Anointed One, —He answereth him out of his holy heavens, by the mighty saving deeds of his own right hand.

Jetzt weiß ich, daß Jehova seinen Gesalbten rettet; aus seinen heiligen Himmeln wird er ihn erhören durch die Machttaten des Heils seiner Rechten.

7 These, by chariots, and, those, by horses, but, we, by the Name of Yahweh our God, will prevail.

Diese gedenken der Wagen und jene der Rosse, wir aber gedenken des Namens Jehovas, unseres Gottes.

8 They, have bowed down and fallen, but, we, have arisen, and stand upright.

Jene krümmen sich und fallen, wir aber stehen und halten uns aufrecht.

9 Yahweh, hath saved the king. Answer us, then, on the day when we call.

Jehova, rette! Der König erhöre uns am Tage unseres Rufens!
