Obadiah 1
1 The vision of Obadiah, —Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, concerning Edom—A rumour, have we heard from Yahweh, and, a herald, throughout the nations, hath been sent, Up! and let us rise against her to war.
Όρασις Αβδιού. Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός περί του Εδώμ· Ηκούσαμεν αγγελίαν παρά Κυρίου και μηνυτής απεστάλη προς τα έθνη, Εγέρθητε και ας εγερθώμεν εναντίον αυτού εις πόλεμον.
2 Lo! small, have I made thee, among the nations—Despised art thou exceedingly!
Ιδού, σε κατέστησα μικρόν μεταξύ των εθνών· είσαι καταπεφρονημένος σφόδρα.
3 The insolence of thy heart, hath deceived thee, O thou that inhabitest the retreats of the crag, the height of his habitation, —that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
Η υπερηφανία της καρδίας σου ηπάτησε σε τον κατοικούντα εν τοις κοιλώμασι των κρημνών, του οποίου η κατοικία είναι υψηλή, όστις λέγει εν τη καρδία αυτού, Τις θέλει με καταβιβάσει εις την γην;
4 Though thou build high like an eagle, and though, among the stars, thou set thy nest, from thence, will I bring thee down, Declareth Yahweh.
Εάν μετεωρισθής ως αετός και εάν θέσης την φωλεάν σου αναμέσον των άστρων, και εκείθεν θέλω σε καταβιβάσει, λέγει Κύριος.
5 If, thieves, had come to thee, if robbers by night—how ruined thou art! Would they not have stolen what sufficed them? If, grape-gatherers, had come to thee, Would they not have left gleanings?
Εάν κλέπται ήρχοντο προς σε, εάν λησταί διά νυκτός -πως εξηλείφθης- δεν ήθελον αρπάσει το αρκούν εις αυτούς; εάν τρυγηταί ήρχοντο προς σε, δεν ήθελον αφήσει επιφυλλίδας;
6 How have the things of Esau been searched out! his treasures been sought up!
Πως εξηρευνήθη ο Ησαύ· απεκαλύφθησαν οι κρυψώνες αυτού.
7 Up to the boundary, have they sent thee—All thy covenant men, they have deceived thee, prevailed against thee—the men thou wast wont to salute, —The partakers of thy bread, have put a net under thee—No understanding in him!
Πάντες οι άνδρες της συμμαχίας σου σε συνώδευσαν έως του ορίου σου· οι άνθρωποι, οίτινες ήσαν εν ειρήνη μετά σου, σε ηπάτησαν και υπερίσχυσαν εναντίον σου· οι τρώγοντες τον άρτον σου έβαλον ενέδραν υποκάτω σου· δεν υπάρχει σύνεσις εν αυτώ.
8 Shall it not be, in that day, Demandeth Yahweh, —That I will destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of Mount Esau?
Εν τη ημέρα εκείνη, λέγει Κύριος, δεν θέλω απολέσει και τους σοφούς από του Εδώμ και την σύνεσιν από του όρους του Ησαύ;
9 So shall thy mighty men, O Teman, be dismayed, —to the intent that every man, may be cut off, out of Mount Esau, by slaughter.
Και οι μαχηταί σου, Θαιμάν, θέλουσι πτοηθή, διά να εκκοπή εν σφαγή πας άνθρωπος εκ του όρους του Ησαύ.
10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob, shall shame, cover thee, —so shalt thou be cut off, to times age-abiding.
Διά την αδικίαν την προς τον αδελφόν σου Ιακώβ θέλει σε καλύψει αισχύνη και θέλεις εκκοπή διαπαντός.
11 In the day when thou didst take thy stand over against him, in the day when foreigners took captive his forces, —and, aliens, entered his gates, and, over Jerusalem, cast lots, even thou, wast like one of them!
Εν τη ημέρα καθ' ην ίστασο απέναντι, τη ημέρα καθ' ην οι αλλογενείς έφεραν εις αιχμαλωσίαν το στράτευμα αυτού και οι αλλότριοι εισήλθον εις τας πύλας αυτού και έβαλον κλήρους επί την Ιερουσαλήμ, έσο και συ ως εις αυτών.
12 Do not, then, look with satisfaction upon the day of thy brother, upon the day of his calamity, Neither rejoice over the sons of Judah—in the day of their ruin, —nor enlarge thy mouth—in the day of distress:
Δεν έπρεπεν όμως να επιβλέπης εις την ημέραν του αδελφού σου, εις την ημέραν της αποξενώσεως αυτού, ουδέ να επιχαίρης κατά των υιών του Ιούδα εν τη ημέρα του αφανισμού αυτών, ουδέ να μεγαλορρημονής εν τη ημέρα της θλίψεως αυτών.
13 Do not enter into the gate of my people—in the day of their misfortune, Do not, thou also, look with satisfaction on his misery—in the day of his misfortune; neither do thou thrust [thy hands] on his substance—in the day of his misfortune;
Δεν έπρεπε να εισέλθης εις την πύλην του λαού μου εν τη ημέρα της συμφοράς αυτών, ουδέ να θεωρής και συ την θλίψιν αυτών εν τη ημέρα της συμφοράς αυτών, ουδέ να επιβάλης χείρα επί την περιουσίαν αυτών εν τη ημέρα της συμφοράς αυτών,
14 Neither do thou stand at the parting of the way, to cut off his fugitives, —neither do thou deliver up his survivors—in the day of distress.
ουδέ έπρεπε να σταθής επί τας διεξόδους, διά να αποκλείης τους διασωζομένους αυτού ουδέ να παραδώσης τους υπολοίπους αυτού εν τη ημέρα της θλίψεως αυτών
15 For, near, is the day of Yahweh, upon all the nations, —Just as thou hast done, shall it be done to thee, Thy dealing, shall come back upon thine own head.
διότι εγγύς είναι η ημέρα του Κυρίου επί πάντα τα έθνη· καθώς έκαμες θέλει γείνει εις σέ· η ανταπόδοσίς σου θέλει στρέψει επί την κεφαλήν σου.
16 For, as ye have drunk on my holy mountain, all the nations shall drink continually, —Yea they shall drink and swallow down, and shall be, as though they had not been.
Διότι καθώς σεις επίετε επί το όρος το άγιόν μου, ούτω θέλουσι πίνει διαπαντός πάντα τα έθνη· ναι, θέλουσι πίνει και θέλουσιν εκροφεί και θέλουσιν είσθαι ως οι μη υπάρχοντες
17 But, in Mount Zion, shall be a delivered remnant which shall be holy, —and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions;
Επί δε του όρους Σιών θέλει είσθαι σωτηρία και θέλει είσθαι άγιον· και ο οίκος Ιακώβ θέλει κατακληρονομήσει τας κληρονομίας αυτών·
18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, with the house of Esau for stubble, So shall they kindle upon them, and devour them, —and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau, for, Yahweh, hath spoken.
και ο οίκος Ιακώβ θέλει είσθαι πυρ και ο οίκος Ιωσήφ φλόξ, ο δε οίκος Ησαύ ως καλάμη· και θέλουσιν εξαφθή κατ' αυτών και καταφάγει αυτούς· και δεν θέλει είσθαι υπόλοιπον του οίκου Ησαύ· διότι Κύριος ελάλησε.
19 Then shall they of the South possess Mount Esau, and they of the Lowlands, the Philistines, and they [of the Mountain] shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria, —and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead;
Και οι της μεσημβρίας θέλουσι κατακληρονομήσει το όρος του Ησαύ και οι της πεδινής τους Φιλισταίους· και θέλουσι κατακληρονομήσει τους αγρούς του Εφραΐμ και τους αγρούς της Σαμαρείας, ο δε Βενιαμίν την Γαλαάδ,
20 And, they of the captivity of this force pertaining to the sons of Israel, [shall possess] that of the Canaanites, up to Zarephath, and, they of the captivity of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.
και το αιχμαλωτισθέν τούτο στράτευμα των υιών Ισραήλ την γην εκείνην των Χαναναίων έως Σαρεπτά, και οι αιχμαλωτισθέντες της Ιερουσαλήμ, οι εν Σεφαράδ, θέλουσι κατακληρονομήσει τας πόλεις του νότου·
21 And saviours shall come up in Mount Zion, to judge the mountain of Esau, —So shall the kingdom, belong unto Yahweh.
και θέλουσιν αναβή σωτήρες εις το όρος Σιών, διά να κρίνωσι το όρος του Ησαύ· και του Κυρίου θέλει είσθαι η βασιλεία.
