Numbers 27
1 Then came near the daughters of Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh pertaining to the families of Manasseh, son of Joseph, —these being the names of his daughters, Mahlah Noah and Hoglah and Milcah, and Tirzah.
Men døtterne åt Selofhad - dei heitte Mahla og Noa og Hogla og Milka og Tirsa, og var ætta frå Manasse, Josefs son; for Selofhad, far deira, var son åt Hefer, son åt Gilead, son åt Makir, son åt Manasse -
2 So they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the assembly, —at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying:
dei gjekk fram i møtetjelddøri, og stod framfor Moses og Eleazer, øvstepresten, og alle hovdingarne og heile lyden, og sagde:
3 Our father, died in the desert, although, he, was not among the assembly that conspired against Yahweh, in the assembly of Korah, —but, in his own sin, died he; and sons, had he none.
«Far vår døydde i øydemarki, men han var ikkje med i den flokken som sette seg upp mot Herren - i Korah-flokken - han døydde for si synd skuld, og han hadde ingi søner.
4 Wherefore should the name of our father be withdrawn out of the midst of his family, because he had no son? Give ye unto us a possession, in the midst of the brethren of our father.
Skal no namnet åt far vår ganga ut or ætti av di han ingen son hadde? Gjev oss odel tilliks med farbrørne våre!»
5 And Moses brought near their cause before Yahweh.
Moses bar saki deira fram for Herren.
6 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
Og Herren sagde til Moses:
7 A right thing, are the daughters of Zelophehad speaking: Thou shalt, surely give, them a possession for an inheritance, in the midst of the brethren of their father, —and shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass over unto them.
«Det er rett som døtterne åt Selofhad segjer. Du skal gjeva deim odel tilliks med farbrørne deira, og lata farsgarden ganga i arv til deim.
8 And unto the sons of Israel, shalt thou speak, saying, —When, any man, shall die, having no son, then shall ye cause his inheritance to pass over to his daughter.
Og til Israels-folket skal du segja: «Når ein mann døyr, og ikkje hev nokon son, so skal de lata garden hans ganga i arv til dotteri.
9 And, if he hath no daughter, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his, brethren.
Hev han ingi dotter, so skal de gjeva brørne hans garden;
10 And if he hath no brethren, then shall ye give his inheritance unto the brethren of his father.
og hev han ikkje brør, so skal de lata farbrørne hans få garden;
11 And, if his father hath no brethren, then shall ye give his inheritance unto his blood-relation that is near unto him of his family, and he shall possess it, —So shall it serve the sons of Israel as a regulative statute, As Yahweh commanded Moses.
men hadde ikkje faren nokon bror, so skal den næmaste skyldingen i ætti få garden til odel og eiga. Dette skal gjelda for rett hjå Israels-folket, soleis som Herren hev sagt med Moses.»»
12 And Yahweh said unto Moses, Go up into this mount of Abarim, —and see, the land which I have given unto the sons of Israel;
Sidan sagde Herren til Moses: «Stig upp på Abarimfjellet her, og sjå utyver landet som eg hev gjeve Israels-sønerne.
13 And, when thou hast seen it, then shalt thou also be withdrawn unto thy kinsfolk, —as Aaron thy brother was withdrawn;
Og når du hev set det, skal du og fara til federne dine, som Aron, bror din, fyre deg,
14 because ye resisted my bidding—in the desert of Zin when the assembly contended, —that ye should hallow me regarding the waters, before their eyes, —the same, were the waters of Meribah, of Kadesh in the desert of Zin.
av di de var ulyduge mot meg i Sinheidi, då lyden trætta, og de ikkje vilde syna deim mi guddomsmagt og lata vatnet strøyma fram for augo deira.» - Av det hev Meribavatnet ved Kades i Sinheidi fenge namn.
15 Then spake Moses unto Yahweh saying:
Då tala Moses til Herren og sagde:
16 Let Yahweh, God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the assembly;
«Herre, du som kjenner kvar manns hug, vil ikkje du setja ein mann yver lyden,
17 who may go out before them and who may come in before them, and who may take them out and who may bring them in, —that the assembly of Yahweh become not as sheep that have no shepherd.
som kann ganga fyre deim både heime og burte og fylgja deim både ut og inn, so ikkje lyden din skal vera som ein saueflokk utan hyrding!»
18 And Yahweh said unto Moses: Take thee Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is spirit, —then shalt thou lean thy hand upon him;
Og Herren sagde til Moses: «Tak Josva, son åt Nun! Han er ein heilag mann. Legg handi på hovudet hans,
19 and shalt cause him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the assembly, —and shalt charge him before their eyes;
og leid honom fram for Eleazar, øvstepresten, og for heile lyden, og set honom inn til styresmann framfor augo deira,
20 and shalt put some of thine honour upon him, —that all the assembly of the sons of Israel may hearken.
og gjev honom noko av den vyrdnaden du hev med deg, so kjem heile Israels-lyden til å høyra på honom.
21 And, before Eleazar the priest, shall he stand, and shall ask by him for the decision of the Lights, before Yahweh, —at the bidding thereof, shall they go out, and at the bidding thereof, shall they come in—he, and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the assembly.
Og han skal ganga fram for Eleazar, øvstepresten, og Eleazar skal for Herrens åsyn spyrja urim-oraklet for honom, og etter hans ord skal dei retta seg i alt dei tek seg fyre, både Josva og heile Israels-borni og heile lyden.»
22 And Moses did as Yahweh commanded him, —and took Joshua, and caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the assembly;
Moses gjorde som Moses sagde; han tok og leidde Josva fram for Eleazar, øvstepresten, og heile lyden,
23 and leaned his hands upon him and charged him, —As Yahweh spake by the hand of Moses.
og Eleazar lagde henderne på honom, og sette honom inn til styresmann, som Herren hadde havt Moses til å segja med honom.
