Numbers 17
1 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
Και ελάλησε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν λέγων,
2 Speak unto the sons of Israel and take of them one staff each for an ancestral house of all their princes, by their ancestral houses, twelve staves, —each man’s name, shalt thou write upon his staff;
Λάλησον προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ, και λάβε παρ' εκάστου αυτών ράβδον κατά τον οίκον των πατέρων αυτών, παρά πάντων των αρχόντων αυτών κατά τον οίκον των πατέρων αυτών, δώδεκα ράβδους· εκάστου το όνομα επίγραψον επί της ράβδου αυτού·
3 and, Aaron’s name, shalt thou write upon the staff of Levi, —for, one staff, shall there be for the head of their ancestral house.
και το όνομα του Ααρών επίγραψον επί της ράβδου του Λευΐ, επειδή μία ράβδος θέλει είσθαι δι' έκαστον αρχηγόν του οίκου των πατέρων αυτών·
4 Then shalt thou lay them up in the tent of meeting, —before the testimony, where I meet with you.
και θέλεις αποθέσει αυτάς εν τη σκηνή του μαρτυρίου έμπροσθεν του μαρτυρίου, όπου θέλω ευρίσκεσθαι μεθ' υμών·
5 So shall it come to pass, that, the man whom I shall choose, his staff, shall bud, —so will I cause to cease from against me the murmurings of the sons of Israel, wherewith they, are murmuring against you.
και η ράβδος του ανθρώπου, όντινα εκλέξω, θέλει βλαστήσει και θέλω κάμει να παύσωσιν απ' έμπροσθέν μου οι γογγυσμοί των υιών Ισραήλ, τους οποίους αυτοί γογγύζουσιν εναντίον σας.
6 And Moses spake unto the sons of Israel and every one of their princes gave unto him, a staff apiece, for each prince, by their ancestral houses, twelve staves, —and the staff of Aaron, was in the midst of their staves.
Και ελάλησεν ο Μωϋσής προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ· και έδωκαν εις αυτόν πάντες οι άρχοντες αυτών ανά μίαν ράβδον έκαστος άρχων κατά τους οίκους των πατέρων αυτών, δώδεκα ράβδους· και ράβδος του Ααρών ήτο μεταξύ των ράβδων αυτών.
7 So Moses laid up the staves before Yahweh, —in the tent of the testimony.
Και απέθηκεν ο Μωϋσής τας ράβδους ενώπιον του Κυρίου εν τη σκηνή του μαρτυρίου.
8 And it came to pass, on the morrow, that Moses entered into the tent of the testimony; and lo! the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi, had budded, —yea it had brought forth buds and bloomed blossoms, and borne ripe almonds.
Και την επαύριον εισήλθεν ο Μωϋσής εις την σκηνήν του μαρτυρίου· και ιδού, η ράβδος του Ααρών διά τον οίκον του Λευΐ εβλάστησε και ανεφύησε βλαστόν και εξήνθησεν άνθη και έδωκεν αμύγδαλα.
9 So then Moses brought forth all the staves, from before Yahweh, unto all the sons of Israel, —and they saw and took, each man his own staff.
Και έφερεν έξω ο Μωϋσής πάσας τας ράβδους απ' έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου προς πάντας τους υιούς Ισραήλ· και αυτοί είδον και έλαβον έκαστος την ράβδον αυτού.
10 And Yahweh said unto Moses—Put back the rod of Aaron, before the testimony, to be kept as a sign unto such as are perverse, —that thou mayest bring to an end their murmurings against me that they die not.
Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Απόθες την ράβδον του Ααρών έμπροσθεν του μαρτυρίου, διά να φυλάττηται εις σημείον εις τους υιούς της αποστασίας· και θέλεις καταπαύσει απ' εμού τους γογγυσμούς αυτών, διά να μη αποθάνωσι.
11 Thus did Moses, —as Yahweh commanded him, so, did he.
Και έκαμεν ο Μωϋσής καθώς προσέταξεν εις αυτόν ο Κύριος· ούτως έκαμε.
12 Then spake the sons of Israel unto Moses saying: Lo! we have breathed our last—we are lost, we are, all, lost:
Και είπον οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς τον Μωϋσήν λέγοντες, Ιδού, ημείς αποθνήσκομεν, αφανιζόμεθα, πάντες αφανιζόμεθα·
13 whosoever draweth near—draweth near—unto the habitation of Yahweh, dieth, —are we ever to have made an end of breathing our last?
πας ο πλησιάζων, ο πλησιάζων εις την σκηνήν του Κυρίου, αποθνήσκει πάντες θέλομεν εκλείψει αποθνήσκοντες;
