Nehemiah 10

1 Now, upon the sealed writings, were, —Nehemiah the governor, son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah;

28 And, the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the doorkeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons and their daughters, —every one having knowledge and understanding,

Et le reste du peuple, les Prêtres, les Lévites, les Portiers, les Chantres, les Assujettis, et tous ceux qui s'étaient séparés des peuples des autres pays pour adhérer à la Loi de Dieu, leurs femmes, leurs fils et leurs filles, et tous ceux qui avaient la connaissance et l'intelligence,

29 were holding fast unto their distinguished brethren, and were entering into a curse and into an oath, to walk in the law of God, which was given through Moses the servant of God, —and to observe and do, all the commandments of Yahweh our Lord, and his regulations, and his statutes;

se joignirent à leurs frères notables, et se soumirent à l'adjuration et au serment de marcher selon la loi de Dieu, donnée par l'organe de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, et de garder et pratiquer tous les commandements de l'Éternel, notre Seigneur, et ses lois et ses statuts,

30 and that we would not give our daughters unto the peoples of the land, —and, their daughters, would we not take for our sons;

et de ne pas donner nos filles aux peuples de la terre, et de ne pas marier nos fils à leurs filles,

31 and, if the peoples of the land should be bringing in wares, or any corn on the sabbath day, to sell, we would not buy of them on the sabbath, or on a holy day, —and that we would remit the seventh year, and the loan of every hand.

et dans le cas où les peuples du pays apporteraient des marchandises, et toutes sortes de grains le jour du Sabbat pour les vendre, de ne pas les acheter d'eux le jour du Sabbat, ou d'autres saints jours, et de laisser relâche la septième année en remettant toutes les dettes.

32 And we laid on ourselves charges, appointing for ourselves the third of a shekel, yearly, —for the service of the house of our God:

Et nous nous prescrivîmes de nous soumettre à la règle de nous imposer annuellement d'un tiers de sicle pour le service de la Maison de notre Dieu,

33 for the bread to set in array, and the continual meal-offering, and for the continual ascending-sacrifice, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the appointed feasts, and for things hallowed, and for victims bearing sin, to put a propitiatory-covering over Israel, —and for all the work of the house of our God.

pour les pains de présentation et l'oblation perpétuelle, et l'holocauste perpétuel, celui des Sabbats et des nouvelles lunes, et pour les fêtes et pour les consécrations et pour les victimes expiatoires destinées à la propitiation pour Israël, et pour tout le mouvement de la Maison de notre Dieu.

34 Also, lots, did we cast, concerning the offering of wood among the priests, the Levites, and the people, to bring it unto the house of our God, by our ancestral houses, at times arranged, year by year, —to burn upon the altar of Yahweh our God, as it is written in the law.

Et nous, Prêtres, Lévites et peuple, nous jetâmes aussi les sorts au sujet des prestations en bois à amener dans la Maison de notre Dieu, selon nos familles patriarcales, à époques fixes, année par année, pour le brûler sur l'autel de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, conformément au texte de la Loi.

35 And that we would bring in the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruit of all fruit of all trees, year by year, —unto the house of Yahweh;

Et nous arrêtâmes d'apporter les prémices de notre sol, et les prémices de tous les arbres fruitiers annuellement à la Maison de l'Éternel,

36 also that, the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, —and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, we would bring in unto the house of our God, unto the priests who should be in attendance in the house of our God;

et d'amener les premiers-nés de nos fils et de nos bestiaux, selon le texte de la Loi, et les premiers-nés de notre gros et de notre menu bétail dans la Maison de notre Dieu aux Prêtres desservant la Maison de notre Dieu;

37 and, the first part of our meal and our heave-offerings and the fruit of all trees, new wine and oil, would we bring in unto the priests, into the chambers of the house of our God, and the tithe of our ground unto the Levites, —the Levites themselves, taking the tithes in all our cities of agriculture.

et les prémices de nos gruaux et nos offrandes et les fruits de tous les arbres, moût et huile, nous les apporterons aux Prêtres dans les cellules de la Maison de notre Dieu, et les dîmes de notre pays aux Lévites; car les Lévites [à leur tour] paient la dîme dans toutes nos villes rurales.

38 And the priest the son of Aaron should be with the Levites, when the Levites should take the tithes, —and the Levites, should bring up the tithe of the tithe, unto the house of our God, into the chambers pertaining unto the treasure-house.

Et le Prêtre, fils d'Aaron, s'adjoindra aux Lévites, lorsque les Lévites paieront la dîme, afin que les Lévites apportent la dîme de la dîme dans la Maison de notre Dieu, dans les cellules, au trésor.

39 For, into the chambers, should the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi bring in the heave-offering of the corn, the new wine and the oil, since, there, are the utensils of the sanctuary, and the priests who are in attendance, and the doorkeepers, and the singers, —so would we not neglect the house of our God.

Car les enfants d'Israël et les fils de Lévi doivent apporter dans les cellules l'oblation prélevée sur le blé, le moût et l'huile; car là sont les vases sacrés et les Prêtres qui font le service et les Portiers et les Chantres. Et nous ne délaisserons point la Maison de notre Dieu.
