Nahum 1
1 The oracle, on Nineveh, —the scroll of the vision of Nahum, the Elkoshite.
Ausspruch über Ninive. Das Buch des Gesichtes Nahums, des Elkoschiters.
2 A GOD jealous and avenging, is Yahweh, an avenger, is Yahweh, and a lord of wrath, an avenger, is Yahweh towards his adversaries, and, a retainer [of anger], is he to his foes.
Ein eifernder und rächender Gott ist Jehova, ein Rächer ist Jehova und voll von Grimm; Jehova übt Rache an seinen Widersachern und trägt seinen Feinden nach.
3 Yahweh, is slow to anger, but great in vigour, He will not leave, unpunished, as for Yahweh, in storm-wind and in tempest, is his way, and, clouds, are the dust of his feet.
Jehova ist langsam zum Zorn und groß an Kraft, und er hält keineswegs für schuldlos den Schuldigen. Jehova, im Sturmwind und im Gewitter ist sein Weg, und Gewölk ist der Staub seiner Füße.
4 Who rebuketh the sea and hath made it dry, and, all the streams, hath he dried up, —withered are Bashan and Carmel, Even the bloom of Lebanon, is withered:
Er schilt das Meer und legt es trocken, und alle Flüsse macht er versiegen; Basan und Karmel verwelken, und es verwelkt die Blüte des Libanon.
5 Mountains, have trembled because of him, and, the hills, have melted, —and the earth, hath lifted itself up, at his presence, the world also, and all who dwell therein.
Vor ihm erbeben die Berge und zerfließen die Hügel, und vor seinem Angesicht erhebt sich die Erde, und der Erdkreis und alle, die darauf wohnen.
6 Before his indignation, who shall stand? And who shall abide the glow of his anger? His wrath, hath been poured forth like fire, and, the rocks, have been broken down because of him.
Wer kann vor seinem Grimm bestehen, und wer standhalten bei der Glut seines Zornes? Sein Grimm ergießt sich wie Feuer, und die Felsen werden von ihm zerrissen.
7 Good is Yahweh, as a protection in the day of distress, —and one who acknowledgeth them who seek refuge in him.
Jehova ist gütig, er ist eine Feste am Tage der Drangsal; und er kennt die, welche auf ihn vertrauen.
8 But, with an overflow rolling on, a full end, will he make of them who rise up against him, —and, his foes, will he pursue into darkness.
Und mit einer überschwemmenden Flut wird er ihre Stätte gänzlich zerstören, und Finsternis wird seine Feinde verfolgen.
9 What can ye devise against Yahweh? A full end, is he making, —Distress, shall not rise up twice:
Was sinnet ihr wider Jehova? Er wird gänzlich zerstören; die Drangsal wird nicht zweimal erstehen.
10 Though they were like thorns intertwined, and as drunkards drenched with their drink, yet have they been devoured, like stubble fully dry.
Denn wären sie gar wie Dornen verflochten und von ihrem edlen Weine berauscht, sie sollen völlig verzehrt werden wie dürre Stoppeln.
11 Out of thee, hath one come forth—plotting, against Yahweh, wickedness, —A counselor of the Abandoned One.
Von dir ist ausgegangen, der Böses sann wider Jehova, ein nichtswürdiger Ratgeber.
12 Thus, saith Yahweh, Though they be in full force, and so in great numbers, yet, even so, have they been cut off, and have passed away, —If I humble thee [once], I will not humble thee again.
So spricht Jehova: Wenn sie gleich unversehrt und noch so zahlreich sind, auch so sollen sie weggemäht werden; und er wird dahin sein. Und habe ich dich auch niedergebeugt, ich werde dich nicht mehr niederbeugen;
13 Now, therefore, will I break his yoke from off thee, —and, thy fetters, will I tear off.
sondern ich werde nun sein Joch von dir zerbrechen und deine Bande zerreißen. -
14 Then will Yahweh give command concerning thee, None of thy name shall be sown any more, —out of the house of thy gods, will I cut off carved image and molten image, I will appoint thy grave, for thou art of little esteem.
Und über dich hat Jehova geboten, daß von deinem Namen nicht mehr gesät werden soll; aus dem Hause deines Gottes werde ich das geschnitzte und das gegossene Bild ausrotten; ich werde dir ein Grab machen, denn verächtlich bist du.
15 Lo! upon the mountains, The feet of one, who bringeth Good Tidings! who publisheth Prosperity! Celebrate, O Judah, thy pilgrim festivals, fulfil thy vows, for, not again, any more, shall the Abandoned One, pass through thee, he hath been wholly cut off.
Siehe, auf den Bergen die Füße dessen, der gute Botschaft bringt, der Frieden verkündigt! Feiere, Juda, deine Feste, bezahle deine Gelübde! Denn der Nichtswürdige wird fortan nicht mehr durch dich ziehen; er ist ganz ausgerottet.
