Matthew 9
1 And, entering into a boat, he crossed over, and came into his own city.
Jésus, étant entré dans une barque, repassa la mer et vint dans sa ville.
2 And lo! they were bringing unto him a paralytic, on a couch, laid prostrate; and Jesus, seeing, their faith, said to the paralytic, —Take courage! child, forgiven are thy sins.
Et voici qu'on lui apporta un paralytique couché sur un lit. Jésus, voyant la foi de ces gens, dit au paralytique: Prends courage, mon enfant, tes péchés te sont pardonnés.
3 And lo! certain of the scribes, said within themselves, —This man, speaketh profanely!
Alors quelques scribes dirent en eux-mêmes: Cet homme blasphème!
4 And Jesus, knowing, their inward thoughts, said, —To what end are ye cherishing evil thoughts within your hearts?
Mais Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, dit: Pourquoi avez-vous de mauvaises pensées dans vos coeurs?
5 For which is easier—To say, Forgiven are thy sins, —or to say, Rise and be walking!
Lequel est le plus aisé de dire: Tes péchés te sont pardonnés. — ou de dire: Lève-toi et marche?
6 But, that ye may know, that the Son of Man hath, authority, upon the earth, to be forgiving sins, then, saith he to the paralytic, —Rise! take up thy couch, and withdraw unto thy house.
Or, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a sur la terre le pouvoir de pardonner les péchés.: Lève-toi, — dit-il au paralytique, — charge-toi de ton lit, et va dans ta maison.
7 And, rising, he departed unto his house.
Celui-ci se leva, et il s'en alla dans sa maison.
8 Now the multitudes, seeing, were struck with fear, and glorified the God who had given authority, such as this, unto men.
A cette vue, la foule fut saisie de crainte; et elle rendit gloire à Dieu de ce qu'il avait donné un tel pouvoir aux hommes.
9 And Jesus, passing aside from thence, saw a man presiding over the tax-office, called, Matthew, and saith unto him, —Be following me. And, arising, he followed him.
Jésus, étant parti de là, vit un homme appelé Matthieu, assis au bureau du péage, et il lui dit: Suis-moi. Et lui, se levant, le suivit.
10 And it came to pass, as he was reclining in the house, that lo! many tax-collectors and sinners, came, and were reclining together with Jesus and his disciples.
Or, il arriva, comme Jésus était à table dans la maison de cet homme, que beaucoup de péagers et de pécheurs y vinrent; et ils se mirent à table avec lui et ses disciples.
11 And, the Pharisees, observing it, began to say unto his disciples, —Wherefore, with tax-collectors and sinners, doth your Teacher eat?
Les pharisiens, voyant cela, dirent à ses disciples: Pourquoi votre maître mange-t-il avec les péagers et les pécheurs?
12 And, he, hearing it, said, —No need have the strong, of a physician, but they who are sick.
Jésus, les ayant entendus, leur dit: Ce ne sont pas ceux qui se portent bien qui ont besoin de médecin, mais ceux qui se portent mal.
13 But go ye, and learn what this meaneth, —Mercy, I desire, and not, sacrifice; For I came, not to call the righteous, but sinners.
Allez et apprenez ce que signifie cette parole: «Je veux la miséricorde, et non le sacrifice»; car je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes, mais les pécheurs.
14 Then come near unto him the disciples of John, saying, —Wherefore do, we, and the Pharisees, fast, whereas, thy disciples, fast not?
Alors les disciples de Jean vinrent trouver Jésus, et ils lui dirent: D'où vient que nous et les pharisiens, nous jeûnons, et que tes disciples ne jeûnent pas?
15 And Jesus said unto them, —Can, the sons of the bridechamber, mourn, so long as, the bridegroom, is, with them? But days will come, when the bridegroom, shall be taken from them, and, then, will they fast.
Jésus leur répondit: Les amis de l'époux peuvent-ils s'affliger aussi longtemps que l'époux est avec eux? Mais les jours viendront où l'époux leur sera ôté, et alors ils jeûneront!
16 Howbeit, no one, layeth on a patch of unshrunk cloth, upon an old garment, —for the shrinking of it teareth away from the garment, and, a worse rent, is made.
Personne ne met une pièce de drap neuf à un vieux vêtement; car la pièce emporte une partie du vêtement, et la déchirure en devient pire.
17 Neither pour they new wine into old skins: otherwise at least, the skins are burst, and, the wine, runneth out, and, the skins, are spoiled, —but they pour new wine into unused skins, and, both, are together preserved.
On ne met pas non plus du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres; autrement, les outres se rompent, le vin se répand, et les outres sont perdues. Mais on met le vin nouveau dans une outre neuve; et l'on conserve ainsi l'un et l'autre.
18 While, these things, he was speaking unto them, lo! a [certain] ruler, came, and began bowing down to him, saying, —My daughter, just now died! But come, and lay thy hand upon, her, and she shall live.
Comme il leur parlait ainsi, un chef de la synagogue entra, se prosterna devant lui et lui dit: Ma fille vient de mourir; mais viens, pose ta main sur elle, et elle vivra.
19 And Jesus, arising, was following him, also his disciples.
Jésus, s'étant levé, le suivit avec ses disciples.
20 And lo! a woman, having a flow of blood twelve years, coming near behind, touched the fringe of his mantle.
Voici qu'une femme, malade d'une perte de sang depuis douze ans, s'approcha par derrière et toucha le bord de son vêtement;
21 For she kept saying within herself, —If only I touch his mantle, I shall be made well!
car elle disait en elle-même: Si je touche seulement son vêtement, je serai guérie.
22 And, Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, —Take courage! daughter, Thy faith, hath made thee well. And the woman was made well, from that hour.
Jésus se retourna et, la voyant, il lui dit: Prends courage, ma fille, ta foi t'a guérie. Et à l'heure même, cette femme fut guérie.
23 And, Jesus, coming, into the house of the ruler, and seeing the flute-players and the multitude in confusion, was saying:
Lorsque Jésus fut arrivé à la maison du chef de la synagogue, voyant les joueurs de flûte et la foule qui faisait grand bruit,
24 Give place! for the maiden died not, but is sleeping. And they began to deride him.
il leur dit: Retirez-vous; car cette petite fille n'est pas morte, mais elle dort! Et ils se moquaient de lui.
25 But, when the multitude had been put forth, he went in, and grasped her hand, —and the maiden arose.
Après qu'on eut mis la foule dehors, Jésus entra; il prit la petite fille par la main, et elle se leva.
26 And forth went this report, into the whole of that land.
Et cette nouvelle se répandit dans tout le pays.
27 And, as Jesus, was passing aside from thence, there followed him, two blind men, crying aloud and saying, —Have mercy on us, O Son of David!
Comme Jésus partait de là, deux aveugles le suivirent, en criant: Fils de David, aie pitié de nous!
28 And, when he entered the house, the blind men came unto him, —and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye, that I can, do this? They say unto him, Yea, Lord!
Quand il fut entré dans la maison, ces aveugles vinrent à lui; et Jésus leur dit: Croyez-vous que je puisse faire ce que vous désirez? Ils lui répondirent: Oui, Seigneur.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it done unto you.
Alors il leur toucha les yeux, en disant: Qu'il vous soit fait selon votre foi!
30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus, sternly charged them, saying, Mind! let no one know!
Et leurs yeux furent ouverts. Jésus leur dit d'un ton sévère: Prenez garde que personne ne le sache!
31 They, however, going forth, made him known throughout the whole of that land.
Mais eux, étant sortis, répandirent sa renommée dans tout le pays.
32 And, as, they, were going forth, lo! there was brought to him, a dumb man, demonized.
Comme ils sortaient, voici qu'on lui présenta un homme muet, possédé d'un démon.
33 And, the demon being cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the multitudes marvelled, saying, —Never, was it seen thus, in Israel.
Le démon ayant été chassé, le muet parla. La foule était dans l'admiration et s'écriait: Jamais rien de semblable ne s'est vu en Israël!
34 [But, the Pharisees, beg to say, In the ruler of the demons, is he casting out the demons.]
Mais les pharisiens disaient: Il chasse les démons par le prince des démons.
35 And Jesus was going round all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the glad-message of the kingdom, —and curing every disease, and every infirmity.
Jésus parcourait toutes les villes et tous les villages, enseignant dans les synagogues, prêchant l'Évangile du royaume, et guérissant toutes sortes de maladies et d'infirmités.
36 But, seeing the multitudes, he was moved with compassion concerning them, because they were torn and thrown down, like sheep hating no shepherd.
En voyant les foules, il fut ému de compassion pour elles, parce qu'elles étaient épuisées et dispersées comme des brebis qui n'ont pas de berger.
37 Then, saith he unto his disciples, The harvest, indeed, is great, but, the labourers, few;
Alors il dit à ses disciples: La moisson est grande, mais il y a peu d'ouvriers.
38 Beg ye, therefore, of the Lord of the harvest, —That he would thrust forth labourers, into his harvest.
Priez donc le maître de la moisson d'envoyer des ouvriers dans sa moisson.
