Matthew 23
1 Then, Jesus spake unto the multitudes and unto his disciples,
，耶穌對民眾和衪的門徒景講論說：
2 saying—Upon Moses’ seat, have sat down, the Scribes and the Pharisees:
經師和法利賽人坐在梅瑟的講座上：
3 All things, therefore, whatsoever they tell you, do and observe, —but, according to their works, do ye not, for they, say, and do not, perform.
凡他們對你們所說的，你們要行要守；但不要照他們的行為去做，因為他們只說不做。
4 But they bind together heavy burdens, and lay upon men’s shoulders, whereas, they, with their finger, are not willing to move them.
他們把沉重而難以負荷的擔子捆好，放在人的肩上，自己卻不肯用一個指頭動一下。
5 But, all their works, they do, to be gazed at, by men, —for they make broad their amulets, and make large their fringes,
他們所作的一切工作都是為叫人看；為此他們把經匣放寬，衣繸加長；
6 And dearly love the first couch in the chief meals, and the first seats in the synagogues,
他們又喜愛筳席上的首位，會堂中的上座，
7 And the salutations in the market-places, and to be called by men, Rabbi.
喜愛人在街市上向他們致敬，稱他們為「辣彼」。
8 But, ye, —do not be called Rabbi, —for, one, is your Teacher, and, all ye, are brethren;
至於你們，卻不要被稱為「辣彼」，因為你們的師傅只有一位，你們眾人都是兄弟；
9 And, father, be none of you called, upon the earth, for, one, is your Father, the Heavenly;
也不要在地上稱人為你們的父，因為你們的父只有一位，就是天上的父。
10 Neither be called leaders, for, your leader, is one, the Christ;
你們也不要被稱為導師，因為你們的導師只有一位，就是默西亞。
11 And, the greatest of you, shall be to you, a minister;
你們中那最大的，該作你們的僕役。
12 And, whoever shall exalt himself, shall be, abased, and, whoever shall abase himself, shall be, exalted,
凡高舉自己的，必被眨抑；凡眨抑己的，必被高舉。
13 But alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because ye are locking up the kingdom of the heavens before men, —for, ye, are not entering, neither, them who are entering, suffer ye to enter.
禍哉你們經師和法利賽假善人！因為你們封閉了天國：你們不進去，也不讓願意進去的人進去。
[禍哉，你們經師和法利賽假善人！因為你們吞沒了寡婦的家產，而以長久的祈禱作掩飾，為此，你們必要遭受更重的處罰。]
15 Alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: because ye compass sea and dry land, to make one convert—and, when it is done, ye make him a son of gehenna, twofold more than ye. (Geenna g1067)
禍哉，你們經師和法利賽假善人！因為你們走遍了海洋和陸地，為使一個人成為歸依者；幾時他成了，你們反而使他成為一個比你們加倍壞的『地獄之子』。 (Geenna g1067)
16 Alas for you, blind guides! that say—Whosoever shall swear by the Temple, it is, nothing, but, whosoever shall swear by the gold of the Temple, is bound:
禍哉，你們瞎眼的響導！你們說：誰若指著聖所起誓，不算什麼；但是誰若指著聖所的金子起誓，就該還願。
17 Foolish and blind! for which is, greater, The gold, or the Temple that hath hallowed the gold?
又昏又瞎的人哪！究竟什麼更貴重：是金子還是使那金子成聖的聖所？
18 And, whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is, nothing, but, whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, is bound:
還有：誰若指著全燔祭壇起誓，不算什麼；但是誰若指著那上面的供物起誓，就該還願。
19 Blind! for which is greater, The gift, or the altar that halloweth the gift?
瞎眼的人哪！究竟什麼更貴重：是供物或是那使供物成聖的全墦祭壇？
20 He therefore that hath sworn by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all that is upon it;
所以，那指著全燔祭壇起誓的，是指著它和那上面的一切起誓；
21 And, he that hath sworn by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him who dwelleth therein;
那指著聖所起誓的是指著它和那住在它內的而起誓；
22 And, he that hath sworn by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him who sitteth thereupon.
那指著天起誓的，是指天主的寶座和坐在上面的那起誓。
23 Alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because ye tithe the mint and the anise and the cummin, —and have dismissed the weightier matters of the law—the justice, the mercy, and the faith; whereas, these, it was binding, to do, and, those, not to, dismiss.
禍哉，你們經師和法利賽假善人！因為你們捐獻十分之一的薄荷、茴香和蒔蘿，卻放過了法律上最重要的公義、仁愛與信義；這些固然該作，那些也不可放萵。
24 Blind guides! Straining out the gnat, but, the camel, swallowing.
瞎眼的響導！ 你們濾出蚊蚋，卻吞下了駱駝。
25 Alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, —while, within, they are full of plunder and intemperance.
禍哉，你們經師和法利賽假善人！因為你們洗擦杯盤的外面，裏面卻滿是劫奪與貪慾。
26 Blind Pharisee! cleanse, first, the inside, of the cup [and of the dish], that, the outside thereof, may become, clean.
瞎眼的法利賽人！你們先應清潔杯的裏面，好叫它外面也成為清潔的。
27 Alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because ye make yourselves like sepulchres whitewashed, which, outside, indeed, appear, beautiful, but, within, are full, of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness, —
禍哉，你們經師和法利賽假善人！因為你們好像用石灰刷白的墳墓；外面看來倒華麗，裏面卻滿是死者的骨骸和各樣的污穢。
28 Thus, ye also, outside, indeed, appear to men, righteous, but, within, are full, of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
同樣，你們外面看來倒像義人，你們裏面卻滿是虛偽和不去。
29 Alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and adorn the monuments of the righteous,
禍哉，你們經師和法利賽假善人！ 因為你們修建先知的墳，裝飾義人的墓，
30 and say—If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been their partners in the blood of the prophets:
且說：假使我們生在我們祖先的時日，我們決不是流先知血的夥伴；
31 So that ye bear witness against yourselves, that ye are, sons, of them who murdered the prophets.
這樣你們自己作證，你們是那些殺殘先知者的子孫了。
32 And, ye, fill ye up the measure of your fathers!
你們就來補足你們祖先作惡的尺度吧！
蛇啊！毒的種類，你們怎能逃避地獄的處罰？ (Geenna g1067)
34 For this cause, lo! I, send unto you, prophets and wise men and scribes, —some from among them, ye will slay and crucify, And some from among them ye will—scourge in your synagogues, and pursue from city to city:
為此，看！我打發先知、賢智和經師到你們這裏來，其中有的你們要殺死，有的你們要釘死，有的你們要在你們的會堂中鞭打，有的你們要由一城追到另一城，
35 That there may come upon you—all righteous blood poured out upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye murdered between the Temple and the altar.
好叫流在地上一切義人的血，自義人亞伯爾的血，直到你們曾在聖所與全燔祭壇間，所的貝勒基雅的兒子則加利的血，都歸你們身上。
36 Verily, I say unto you—All these things, will have come, upon this generation.
我實在告訴你們：這一切都要歸到這一代人身上。
37 Jerusalem! Jerusalem! that slayeth the prophets, and stoneth them that have been sent unto her, —how often, would I have gathered thy children, like as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, —and ye would not!
耶路撒冷！耶路撒冷！你常殘殺先知，用石頭砸死那些派遺到你們這裏來的人。我多少次願意願意聚集你的子女，有如母雞把自己的幼雛聚集在翅膀下，但你卻不願意！
38 Lo! your house is left to you;
看吧！你們的房屋必給你們留下一片荒涼。
39 For I say unto you—in no wise, may ye see me, henceforth, until ye say, Blessed, is he that cometh, in the name of the Lord!
因為我告訴你們：自今以後，你們斷不能再看己我，直到你們說：因上主之名而來的，當受讚頌！」
