Mark 10
1 And, from thence, arising, he cometh into the bounds of Judaea and beyond the Jordan, —and there come together again, multitudes unto him, and, as he had been wont, again, was he teaching them.
യേശു കഫാർനഹൂം വിട്ട് യോർദാൻനദിയുടെ അക്കരെയുള്ള യെഹൂദ്യപ്രവിശ്യയിലേക്ക് യാത്രതിരിച്ചു. ജനക്കൂട്ടം വീണ്ടും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റും തടിച്ചുകൂടി; പതിവുപോലെ അദ്ദേഹം അവരെ പിന്നെയും ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
2 And Pharisees coming near were questioning him—whether it is allowed a husband to divorce a wife, testing him.
ചില പരീശന്മാർ വന്ന്, “ഒരു പുരുഷൻ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിന് നിയമം അനുവദിക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ?” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനായി ചോദിച്ചു.
3 But, he, answering, said unto them—What unto you did, Moses, command?
അദ്ദേഹം മറുപടിയായി, “മോശ നിങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചത് എന്താണ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
4 And, they, said—Moses permitted, to write, a roll of dismissal, and to divorce.
“വിവാഹമോചനപത്രം എഴുതിയിട്ട് ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ മോശ അനുവദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
5 But, Jesus, said unto them—In view of your hardness of heart, wrote he for you this commandment;
അതിന് യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞത്: “നിങ്ങളുടെ പിടിവാശി നിമിത്തമാണ് മോശ ഈ കൽപ്പന നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എഴുതിത്തന്നത്.
6 But, from the beginning of creation, male and female, made he [them];
എന്നാൽ, ദൈവം സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ആരംഭത്തിൽ ‘പുരുഷനും സ്ത്രീയുമായിട്ടാണ് മനുഷ്യസൃഷ്ടി ചെയ്തത്.’
7 For this cause, shall a man leave behind his father and mother,
‘ഇക്കാരണത്താൽ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞ് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടു സംയോജിക്കും.
8 and, the two, shall become, one flesh; so that, no longer, are they two, but, one flesh.
അവരിരുവരും ഒരു ശരീരമായിത്തീരും.’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലേ? അതിനാൽ അവർ ഇനി രണ്ടല്ല, ഒരു ശരീരമാണ്.
9 What then, God, hath yoked together, let, a man, not put asunder.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവം സംയോജിപ്പിച്ചതിനെ മനുഷ്യൻ വേർപിരിക്കരുത്.”
10 And, [coming] into the house again, the disciples, concerning this, were questioning him;
അവർ വീട്ടിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഇതേപ്പറ്റി യേശുവിനോടു വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചു.
11 and he saith unto them—Whosoever shall divorce his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her;
അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു: “സ്വന്തം ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് മറ്റൊരു സ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹംചെയ്യുന്നവൻ ആ ഭാര്യയ്ക്ക് എതിരായി വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
12 And, if, she, divorcing her husband, marry another, she committeth adultery.
ഭർത്താവിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു മറ്റൊരാളെ വിവാഹംചെയ്യുന്നവളും വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുകയാണ്.”
13 And they were bringing unto him children, that he might, touch, them, —the disciples, however, were rebuking them.
യേശു കൈവെച്ച് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ചില ആളുകൾ ശിശുക്കളെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. എന്നാൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവരെ ശകാരിച്ചു.
14 But Jesus, seeing it, was greatly displeased, and said unto them—Suffer the children to come unto me, —do not hinder them; for, of such, is the kingdom of God.
ഇതുകണ്ട് യേശു ദേഷ്യത്തോടെ, “ശിശുക്കളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരാൻ അനുവദിക്കുക; അവരെ തടയരുത്; കാരണം ദൈവരാജ്യം ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർക്കു സ്വന്തം!
15 Verily, I say unto you—Whosoever shall not welcome the kingdom of God, as a child, in nowise shall enter thereinto.
ഒരു ശിശുവിനെപ്പോലെ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ സ്വീകരിക്കാത്ത ആരും ഒരുനാളും അതിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയില്ല, നിശ്ചയം, എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 And, folding them in his arms, he was blessing them, having laid his hands upon them.
തുടർന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ശിശുക്കളെ കൈകളിൽ എടുത്ത് അവരുടെമേൽ കൈവെച്ച് അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
17 And, as he was going forth into a road, one, running, and kneeling before him, was questioning him—Good Teacher! what shall I do that, life age—abiding, I may inherit? (aiōnios g166)
യേശു അവിടെനിന്ന് യാത്ര പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ ഓടിവന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ മുട്ടുകുത്തി, “നല്ല ഗുരോ, എന്തു ചെയ്താൽ എനിക്കു നിത്യജീവൻ ലഭ്യമാകും?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. (aiōnios g166)
18 And, Jesus, said unto him—Why callest thou me, good? None, is good, save one—God.
അതിനുത്തരമായി യേശു, “നീ എന്നെ ‘നല്ലവൻ’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്? ദൈവം ഒരുവനല്ലാതെ നല്ലവൻ ആരുമില്ല.
19 The commandments, thou knowest, —Do not commit murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal; Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honour thy father and mother.
‘കൊലപാതകം ചെയ്യരുത്, വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുത്, മോഷ്ടിക്കരുത്, കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം പറയരുത്, ചതിക്കരുത്, നിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ ബഹുമാനിക്കുക’ എന്നീ കൽപ്പനകൾ നിനക്ക് അറിയാമല്ലോ” എന്ന് അയാളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 And, he, said unto him—Teacher! all these things, have I kept, from my youth.
“ഗുരോ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ ബാല്യംമുതൽതന്നെ ഈ കൽപ്പനകൾ എല്ലാം പാലിച്ചുപോരുന്നു” അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
21 And, Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said unto him—One thing, unto thee, is wanting; —Withdraw! whatsoever thou hast, sell, and give unto [the] destitute, —and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come! be following me.
യേശു അയാളെ നോക്കി; അയാളിൽ ആർദ്രത തോന്നിയിട്ട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഒരൊറ്റ കുറവു നിനക്കുണ്ട്. നീ പോയി നിനക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം വിറ്റ് ദരിദ്രർക്ക് കൊടുക്കുക. എന്നാൽ, സ്വർഗത്തിൽ നിനക്കു നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടാകും. അതിനുശേഷം വരിക, എന്റെ അനുഗാമിയാകുക.”
22 And, he, becoming gloomy because of the word, departed sorrowing, for he was holding, many possessions.
ഇതു കേട്ട് അയാളുടെ മുഖം വാടി. അയാൾക്ക് വളരെ വസ്തുവകകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ദുഃഖിതനായി അവിടെനിന്ന് പോയി.
23 And, looking around, Jesus saith unto his disciples—With what difficulty, shall, they who have money, enter, into the kingdom of God!
യേശു ചുറ്റും നോക്കിയിട്ടു തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്, “ധനികർ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയെന്നത് എത്രയോ വിഷമകരം!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24 And, the disciples, were in amazement, because of the words. But, Jesus, again answering, saith unto them—Children! how difficult, it is, to enter, into the kingdom of God!
ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട് വിസ്മയിച്ചു. യേശു വീണ്ടും പറഞ്ഞു: “കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയെന്നത് എത്രയോ വിഷമകരം!
25 It is, easier, for a camel, through the eye of a needle, to pass, than for, a rich man, into the kingdom of God, to enter.
ധനികർ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ, ഒട്ടകം സൂചിക്കുഴയിലൂടെ കടക്കുന്നതാണ് കൂടുതൽ എളുപ്പം.”
26 And, they, were being exceedingly struck with astonishment, saying unto him—Who, then, can, be saved?
ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അത്യധികം വിസ്മയത്തോടെ പരസ്പരം ചോദിച്ചു: “എന്നാൽ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും?”
27 Looking at them, Jesus saith—With men, impossible, but not, with God; for, all things, are possible, with God
യേശു അവരെ നോക്കി, “മനുഷ്യർക്ക് ഇത് അസാധ്യം; എന്നാൽ ദൈവത്തിന് അങ്ങനെയല്ല; ദൈവത്തിനു സകലതും സാധ്യമാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28 Peter began to be saying unto him—Lo! we, have left all, and followed thee!
അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ് യേശുവിനോട്, “ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങൾ സകലതും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് അങ്ങയെ അനുഗമിച്ചല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 Jesus said—Verily, I say unto you—There is, no one, who hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or lands, for the sake of me, and [for the sake of] the glad-message,
യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞത്: “സത്യമായി ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു; എനിക്കും സുവിശേഷത്തിനുംവേണ്ടി വീട്, സഹോദരന്മാർ, സഹോദരിമാർ, മാതാവ്, പിതാവ്, മക്കൾ, പുരയിടങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ത്യജിച്ച ഏതൊരാൾക്കും പീഡനങ്ങൾ സഹിക്കേണ്ടിവരുമെങ്കിലും,
31 But, many, shall be—first-last, and [the] Last-first.
എങ്കിലും ഇന്ന് അഗ്രഗാമികളായിരിക്കുന്ന പലരും അന്ന് ഏറ്റവും പിന്നിലുള്ളവരും ഇന്ന് ഏറ്റവും പിന്നിലുള്ള പലരും അന്ന് അഗ്രഗാമികളുമായിത്തീരും.”
32 Now they were in the way, going up unto Jerusalem, and Jesus was going on before them, —and they were in amazement; and, they who followed, were in fear. And, taking unto himself, again, the twelve, he began to be saying unto them, as to the things about to befall him—
അവർ ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു യാത്രതുടർന്നു. യേശു അവർക്കുമുമ്പിൽ നടന്നു. ശിഷ്യന്മാർക്കു വിസ്മയവും അനുഗമിച്ചവർക്കു ഭയവും ഉണ്ടായി. അദ്ദേഹം പന്ത്രണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ വീണ്ടും അടുക്കൽവിളിച്ചു തനിക്കു സംഭവിക്കാൻ പോകുന്നതെന്താണെന്ന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു:
33 Lo! we are going up unto Jerusalem; and, the Son of Man, will be delivered up, unto the Chief-priests and the Scribes, —and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him up unto the nations;
“നോക്കൂ, നാം ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു പോകുകയാണ്; മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരുടെയും വേദജ്ഞരുടെയും കൈകളിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടും. അവർ മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ വധിക്കാനായി വിധിച്ചശേഷം റോമാക്കാരെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കും.
34 And they will mock him, and spit upon him, and scourge him, and, slay; —and, after three days, will he, arise.
അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുകയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ തുപ്പുകയും ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിക്കുകയും വധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. എന്നാൽ, മൂന്ന് ദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽക്കും.”
35 And there come near unto him, James and John, the [two] sons of Zebedee, —saying unto him—Teacher! we desire, that, whatsoever we shall ask thee, thou wilt do for us.
സെബെദിയുടെ മക്കളായ യാക്കോബും യോഹന്നാനും യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു. അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “ഗുരോ, ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നത് അങ്ങു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ചെയ്തുതരണമെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
36 But, he, said unto them—What desire ye, I should do for you?
“ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി എന്തു ചെയ്യണമെന്നാണു നിങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത്?” അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിച്ചു.
37 And, they, said unto him—Grant us, that, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left, we may sit, in thy glory.
അതിന് അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “അങ്ങയുടെ മഹത്ത്വത്തിൽ, ഞങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാളെ അങ്ങയുടെ വലത്തും മറ്റേയാളെ ഇടത്തും ഇരിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കണമേ.”
38 But, Jesus, said unto them—Ye know not what ye are asking: Are ye able to drink the cup that, I, am to drink? or to be immersed, with the immersion wherewith, I, am to be immersed?
യേശു അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നത് എന്താണെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ല. ഞാൻ കുടിക്കുന്ന പാനപാത്രം കുടിക്കാനോ ഞാൻ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന സ്നാനം സ്വീകരിക്കാനോ നിങ്ങൾക്കു കഴിയുമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
39 And, they, said unto him—We are able. And, Jesus, said unto them—The cup which, I, am to drink, ye shall drink, and, with the immersion wherewith, I, am to be immersed, shall ye be immersed;
“ഞങ്ങൾ അതിനു തയ്യാറാണ്,” അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു അവരോട്, “ഞാൻ കുടിക്കുന്ന പാനപാത്രം നിങ്ങൾ കുടിക്കും; ഞാൻ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന സ്നാനവും നിങ്ങൾ സ്വീകരിക്കും;
40 But, to sit on my right hand and on my left, is not mine to give, except unto them for whom it hath been prepared.
എന്നാൽ എന്റെ വലത്തോ ഇടത്തോ ഇരിക്കാനുള്ള അനുവാദം നൽകുന്നത് ഞാനല്ല; ആ സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ ദൈവം ആർക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണോ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്, അത് അവർക്കുള്ളതാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
41 And the ten, hearing, began to be sorely displeased, concerning James and John.
ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ട് ശേഷിച്ച പത്തുപേരും യാക്കോബിനോടും യോഹന്നാനോടും അസന്തുഷ്ടരായി.
42 And Jesus, calling them near, saith unto them—Ye know that, they who think to rule the nations, lord it over them, and, their great ones, wield authority over them;
യേശു അവരെയെല്ലാം അടുക്കൽവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ ഭരണകർത്താക്കളായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രജകളുടെമേൽ ആധിപത്യം നടത്തുന്നെന്നും അവരിലെ പ്രമുഖർ അവരുടെമേൽ സ്വേച്ഛാധിപത്യം നടത്തുന്നെന്നും നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ.
43 But, not so, it is, among you. But, whosoever desireth to become, great, among you, shall be, your minister,
നിങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കരുത്. പിന്നെയോ, നിങ്ങളിൽ പ്രമുഖരാകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെല്ലാം മറ്റുള്ളവർക്ക് ദാസരായിരിക്കണം;
44 And, whosoever desireth, among you, to be, first, shall be, servant of all;
പ്രഥമസ്ഥാനീയരാകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരോ എല്ലാവരുടെയും അടിമയുമായിരിക്കണം.
45 For, even the Son of Man, came not to be ministered unto, but minister, —and to give his life, a ransom instead of many.
മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ (ഞാൻ) വന്നതോ മറ്റുള്ളവരിൽനിന്ന് ശുശ്രൂഷ സ്വീകരിക്കാനല്ല; മറിച്ച്, മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കാനും തന്റെ ജീവൻ അനേകർക്ക് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവിലയായി നൽകാനും ആണ്.”
46 And they come into Jericho. And, as he was journeying forth from Jericho, and his disciples, and a considerable multitude, the son of Timaeus, blind Bar-Timaeus, a beggar, was sitting beside the road.
അങ്ങനെ യാത്രചെയ്ത് അവർ യെരീഹോപട്ടണത്തിൽ എത്തി. പിന്നെ യേശുവും ശിഷ്യന്മാരും ഒരു വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തോടൊപ്പം ആ പട്ടണം വിട്ടുപോകുമ്പോൾ തിമായിയുടെ മകനായ ബർത്തിമായി എന്ന അന്ധൻ ഭിക്ഷ യാചിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് വഴിയരികിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
47 And, hearing that it was, Jesus the Nazarene, he began to be crying aloud, and saying—O Son of David! Jesus! have mercy on me.
പോകുന്നത് നസറായനായ യേശു ആകുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അയാൾ, “യേശുവേ, ദാവീദുപുത്രാ, അടിയനോട് കരുണതോന്നണമേ” എന്ന് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
48 And many were rebuking him, that he might hold his peace; but, he, so much the more, was crying aloud, O Son of David, have mercy on me.
പലരും അയാളെ ശാസിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, മിണ്ടരുതെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ അയാൾ അധികം ഉച്ചത്തിൽ, “ദാവീദുപുത്രാ, അടിയനോട് കരുണതോന്നണമേ” എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.
49 And, coming to a stand, Jesus said—Call him! And they call the blind man, saying unto him—Take courage! rise! he calleth thee!
അതുകേട്ടു യേശു നിന്നു. “ആ മനുഷ്യനെ വിളിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അന്ധനെ വിളിച്ച് അയാളോട്, “ധൈര്യമായിരിക്കുക, എഴുന്നേൽക്കുക, യേശു നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
50 And, he, throwing off his mantle—springing to his feet, came unto Jesus.
അയാൾ തന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ചാടിയെഴുന്നേറ്റ് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുത്തെത്തി.
51 And, answering him, Jesus said—What desirest thou, I should do for thee? And, the blind man, said unto him—Rabboni! that may recover sight.
“ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് എന്തു ചെയ്തുതരണമെന്നാണ് നീ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത്?” എന്ന് അയാളോടു ചോദിച്ചു. അന്ധനായ ബർത്തിമായി, “എനിക്കു കാഴ്ച കിട്ടണം, റബ്ബീ,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
52 And, Jesus, said unto him—Go thy way! thy faith, hath saved thee. And, straightway, he recovered sight, and was following him in the road.
യേശു അയാളോട്, “പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ, നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നിന്നെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഉടൻതന്നെ അയാൾക്ക് കാഴ്ച ലഭിച്ചു; തുടർന്നുള്ള യാത്രയിൽ അയാൾ യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
