Luke 5
1 And it came to pass, while the multitude was pressing upon him, and was hearing the word of God, that, he, was standing near the lake of Gennesaret;
Or il advint, pendant que la foule se pressait autour de lui et écoutait la parole de Dieu, et que lui-même se tenait debout auprès du lac de Gennèsareth,
2 and he saw two boats placed near the lake, and, the fishers, having gone away, from them, were washing their nets.
qu'il vit deux barques qui stationnaient au bord du lac; mais les pêcheurs en étaient descendus et lavaient leurs filets.
3 And, entering into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he requested him, to put off from the land, a little; and, taking a seat, out of the boat, began he teaching the multitudes.
Or étant monté dans l'une des barques, qui appartenait à Simon, il le pria de s'éloigner un peu de la terre, et s'étant assis, il enseignait la foule de dedans la barque.
4 And, when he ceased speaking, he said unto Simon—Put off into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
Mais, lorsqu'il eut cessé de parler, il dit à Simon: « Pousse au large, et jetez vos filets pour pêcher. »
5 And Simon, answering, said—Master! although through the whole night we toiled, we took, nothing; howbeit, at thy bidding, I will let down the nets.
Et Simon lui répliqua: « Maître, nous avons travaillé toute la nuit sans rien prendre; mais sur ta parole je jetterai les filets. »
6 And, when this they had done, they enclosed a very large number of fishes, and their nets began to break.
Et l'ayant fait, ils ramenèrent une grande quantité de poissons; mais leurs filets se déchiraient,
7 And they made signs to their partners in the other boat, to come and help them; and they came, and filled both the boats, —so that they began to sink.
et ils firent signe à leurs camarades dans l'autre barque de venir les aider; et ils vinrent, et les deux barques furent tellement remplies, qu'elles enfonçaient.
8 And Simon, beholding, fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying—Depart from me! Because, a sinful man, am I, O Lord!
Ce que Simon Pierre ayant vu, il se jeta aux genoux de Jésus en disant: « Éloigne-toi de moi, car je suis un homme pécheur, seigneur. »
9 For, amazement, overcame him, and all them who were with him, on account of the draught of the fishes which they had taken;
Il était en effet saisi d'épouvante, ainsi que tous ceux qui étaient avec lui, à cause de la capture des poissons qu'ils avaient pris.
10 likewise also, both James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon—Do not fear! henceforth, shall thou be taking, men, that they may, live.
Or, il en était aussi de même de Jacques et de Jean fils de Zébédée, qui étaient associés de Simon. Et Jésus dit à Simon: « Ne crains point; désormais tu seras un preneur d'hommes. »
11 And, bringing the boats down on to the land, they left all, and followed him.
Et ayant ramené les barques vers la terre, ils quittèrent tout et ils le suivirent.
12 And it came to pass, while he was in one of the cities, that lo! there was a man full of leprosy; and, seeing Jesus, he fell on his face, and entreated him, saying—Lord! if thou be willing, thou canst cleanse me.
Et il advint, pendant qu'il se trouvait dans une des villes, que, voici, un homme couvert de lèpre ayant vu Jésus tomba la face contre terre, et le supplia en disant: « Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me guérir. »
13 And, stretching forth the hand, he touched him, saying—I am willing: Be cleansed! And, straightway, the leprosy departed from him.
Et ayant étendu la main, il le toucha en disant: « Je le veux, sois guéri! » Et aussitôt la lèpre le quitta.
14 And, he, charged him to tell, no one, —but, departing, Show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses enjoined, for a witness unto them.
Et il lui enjoignit de n'en parler à personne; « mais va, » lui dit-il, « te montrer au sacrificateur, et présente l'offrande pour ta purification conformément à ce qu'a prescrit Moïse pour leur servir d'attestation. »
15 But the report concerning him the more went abroad, and many multitudes were coming together, to hear, and be getting cured from their infirmities;
Or le bruit de sa renommée ne faisait que se répandre de plus en plus, et une foule nombreuse accourait pour l'entendre, et pour être guérie de ses infirmités.
16 howbeit, he, was retiring in the deserts, and engaging in prayer.
Quant à lui, il se retirait dans les déserts et priait.
17 And it came to pass, on one of the days, that, he, was teaching, and there were sitting Pharisees and Teachers of the law, who had come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem; and, the power of the Lord, was there, that he might heal.
Et il advint un jour, pendant que lui-même enseignait et que les pharisiens et les docteurs de la loi, qui étaient venus de tous les villages de Galilée et de Judée et de Jérusalem, se trouvaient présents, et qu'une puissance du Seigneur se montrait dans ses guérisons,
18 And lo! men bearing, upon a couch, one who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in, and lay him before him.
que, voici, des hommes apportent sur un lit un homme qui était paralytique, et ils cherchaient à l'introduire et à le placer devant lui.
19 And, not finding by what means they might bring him in, because of the multitude, going up on the house-top, through the tiling, let they him down, with the little-couch, into the midst before Jesus.
Et n'ayant pas trouvé le moyen de l'introduire, à cause de la foule, ils montèrent sur le toit, et ils le descendirent au travers des tuiles avec son petit lit, tout au milieu en présence de tous.
20 And, beholding their faith, he said—O man! thy sins are forgiven thee.
Et ayant vu leur foi, il dit: « O homme, tes péchés t'ont été pardonnés! »
21 And the Scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying—Who is this that speaketh profanities? Who can forgive, sins, save, God alone?
Et les scribes et les pharisiens se mirent à se demander: « Qui est celui-ci, qui profère des blasphèmes? Qui est-ce qui peut pardonner les péchés, si ce n'est Dieu seul? »
22 And Jesus, taking note of their reasonings, answering, said unto them—Why are ye reasoning in your hearts?
Mais Jésus connaissant leurs pensées, leur répliqua: « A quoi pensez-vous dans vos cœurs?
23 Which is easier, To say—Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say—Arise and be walking?
Quel est le plus facile, de dire: Tes péchés t'ont été pardonnés, ou de dire: Lève-toi et marche.
24 But, that ye may know that, the Son of Man, hath, authority, upon the earth to forgive sins—he said to the paralyzed man—To thee, I say, Arise, and, taking up thy couch, be going thy way unto thy house.
Or, pour que vous sachiez que le fils de l'homme a sur la terre l'autorité de pardonner les péchés… » il dit au paralytique: « Je te le dis, lève-toi, prends ton petit lit, et va-t-en dans ta maison. »
25 And, instantly arising before them, he took up that whereon he had been lying, and departed unto his house, glorifying God.
Et aussitôt s'étant levé devant eux, il prit sa couche, et s'en alla dans sa maison en glorifiant Dieu.
26 And, astonishment, seized one and all, and they began glorifying God, and were filled with fear, saying—We have seen unaccountable things, to-day!
Et tous furent saisis de surprise, et ils glorifiaient Dieu, et ils furent remplis de crainte, « car, » disaient-ils, « nous avons vu aujourd'hui des choses étranges. »
27 And, after these things, he went forth, and looked upon a tax-collector, by name Levi, —presiding over the tax-office; and he said to him—Be following me!
Et après cela il sortit, et vit un publicain, nommé Lévis, assis au bureau des péages, et il lui dit: « Suis-moi! »
28 And, forsaking all, he arose, and was following him.
Et ayant tout quitté, il se leva, et il le suivait.
29 And Levi made a great reception for him, in his house, and there was a great multitude of tax-collectors, and others, —who were with them reclining.
Et Lévis lui donna un grand festin dans sa maison; et il y avait une grande foule de publicains et d'autres personnes qui étaient attablés avec eux.
30 And the Pharisees and their Scribes began murmuring unto his disciples, saying—Wherefore, with the tax-collectors and sinners, are ye eating and drinking?
Et les pharisiens et leurs scribes s'en plaignaient à ses disciples, en disant: « Pourquoi mangez-vous et buvez-vous avec les publicains et les pécheurs? »
31 And, answering, Jesus said unto them—No need, have, the whole, of a physician, but, they who are sick.
Et Jésus leur répliqua: « Ce ne sont pas ceux qui sont en bonne santé qui ont besoin du médecin, mais les mal portants;
32 I have not come to call, righteous, men, but, sinners, unto repentance.
je ne suis pas venu appeler des justes mais des pécheurs à la repentance. »
33 But, they, said unto him—The disciples of John, do fast much, and, supplications, do make, —likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees; but, thine, do eat and drink!
Mais ils lui dirent: « Les disciples de Jean jeûnent souvent, et ils font des prières; il en est aussi de même de ceux des pharisiens, mais les tiens mangent et boivent. »
34 Jesus, however, said unto them—Can, ye make, the sons of the bridechamber, fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
Mais Jésus leur dit: « Pouvez-vous faire jeûner les fils de la chambre nuptiale pendant que l'époux est avec eux?
35 But there will come days, even when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, then, will they fast, in those days.
Mais des jours viendront… et quand l'époux leur sera enlevé, alors ils jeûneront en ces jours-là. »
36 Moreover, he went on to speak, a parable also, unto them—No one, rending a patch from a new mantle, patcheth it upon an old mantle; otherwise, at least, both, the new, he will rend, and, with the old, the patch which is from the new, will not agree.
Mais il leur adressait encore une parabole: « Personne n'arrache une pièce à un habit neuf pour la mettre à un vieil habit; autrement d'un côté on déchirera le neuf, et de l'autre la pièce du neuf ne s'accordera pas avec le vieux.
37 And, no one, poureth new wine into old skins; otherwise, at least, the new wine, will burst the skins, and will, itself, be poured out, and the skins be destroyed.
Et personne ne met du vin nouveau dans des outres vieilles, autrement le vin nouveau rompra les outres, et lui-même se répandra, et les outres seront perdues;
38 But, new wine, into unused skins, must be poured.
mais on doit mettre du vin nouveau dans des outres neuves.
39 [No one, having drunk old, desireth new; for he saith, The old, is, mellow.]
Personne en buvant du vieux ne désire du nouveau, car il dit: le vieux est bon. »
