Leviticus 20

1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:

Und der Herr sprach zu Moses also:

2 Unto the sons of Israel, therefore shalt thou say, What man soever, there may be of the sons of Israel, or of the sojourners that sojourn in Israel, that giveth of his seed unto Molech, he shall, surely be put to death, —the people of the land shall stone him with stones;

"Sprich zu den Söhnen Israels: Wer aus den Söhnen Israels und aus den Fremdlingen in Israel von seinen Kindern eines dem Moloch gibt, soll den Tod erleiden! Das Volk des Landes soll ihn steinigen!

3 I, also, will set my face against that man, and will cut him off out of the midst of his people, —because of his seed, hath he given unto Molech, seeing that he hath made unclean my sanctuary, even to the extent of profaning my holy name.

Ich selber richte mein Antlitz wider diesen Mann und streiche ihn aus seinem Volke, weil er von seinen Kindern eines dem Moloch gibt und so mein Heiligtum unrein macht und meinen heiligen Namen entweiht.

4 But, if the people of the land, do even hide, their eyes from that man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, —so as not to put him to death,

Und wollte vor einem solchen Manne das Volk des Landes seine Augen schließen, wenn er von seinen Kindern eines dem Moloch gibt, und wollten sie ihn nicht töten,

5 then will I myself, set my face against that man, and against his family, —and will cut him off, and all that follow unchastely after him—in going unchastely after Molech—out of the midst of their people.

dann richte ich mein Antlitz gegen einen solchen Mann und seine Sippe. Ich streiche ihn aus seinem Volke, ihn samt allen, die ihm in Unzucht mit dem Moloch nachfolgen.

6 The person also that turneth unto mediums and unto oracles, in going unchastely after them, then will I set my face against that person, and will cut him off out of the midst of his people.

Und gegen die Person, die sich an Toten- und an Wahrsagegeister wendet, ihnen nachzuhuren, richte ich mein Angesicht und streiche sie aus ihrem Volke.

7 Therefore shall ye hallow yourselves and be holy, —Because I—Yahweh, am your God.

Zeigt euch als heilig, daß ihr heilig werdet! Ich bin der Herr, euer Gott.

8 Therefore shall ye observe my statutes, and do them, —I—Yahweh, am he that is hallowing you.

Beachtet und befolget meine Satzungen! Ich bin der, der euch heiligt, ich, der Herr.

9 When, any man whatsoever, curseth his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death, —his father or his mother, hath he cursed, his blood, shall be upon himself.

Wer Vater und Mutter grob beleidigt, soll den Tod erleiden! Weil er Vater und Mutter grob beleidigt, bleibt seine Blutschuld auf ihm.

10 And, any man, who committeth adultery with the wife of any other man, he that committeth adultery with the wife of his neighbour shall surely be put to death—the adulterer, and the adulteress.

Buhlt ein Mann mit eines anderen Mannes Weib, buhlt ein Mann mit seines Nächsten Weib, so leide der Ehebrecher und die Ehebrecherin den Tod!

11 And any man who lieth with his father’s wife, the shame of his father, hath uncovered, —they both shall, surely be put to death—their blood shall be upon themselves.

Liegt jemand bei dem Weibe seines Vaters, hat er des Vaters Blöße enthüllt, so sollen beide den Tod leiden, und ihre Blutschuld bleibt bei ihnen.

12 And any man who lieth with his daughter-in-law, they both shall, surely be put to death, confusion, have they wrought—their blood shall be upon themselves.

Liegt jemand bei der eigenen Schwiegertochter, so sollen beide den Tod leiden. Sie haben eine schwere Schandtat ausgeübt, und ihre Blutschuld bleibt bei ihnen.

13 And any man who lieth with mankind as with womankind, an abomination, have both of them wrought, —they shall, surely be put to death, —their blood, shall be upon themselves.

Liegt jemand bei einem Manne, wie man bei einem Weibe liegt, so haben beide eine Greueltat getan. Den Tod sollen sie leiden, und ihre Blutschuld bleibt bei ihnen!

14 And, any man, who taketh a woman and her mother, wickedness, it is, —in fire, shall both he and they be consumed, that wickedness be not in your midst.

Nimmt jemand ein Weib und ihre Mutter dazu, so ist dies grobe Unzucht. Man soll ihn und sie verbrennen, auf daß nicht Unzucht unter euch im Schwange seil

15 And, any man, who hath carnal knowledge of a beast, shall, surely be put to death, —and, the beast, shall ye slay.

Wer sich mit einem Tiere vermischt, soll den Tod leiden! Auch das Tier sollt ihr umbringen!

16 And, a woman, who approacheth unto any beast, to couch down thereto, then shalt thou slay the woman and the beast, —they shall surely be put to death, —their blood, shall be upon themselves.

Naht sich ein Weib einem Tiere, sich mit ihm zu paaren, so töte Weib und Tier! Den Tod sollen sie leiden, und ihre Blutschuld bleibt bei ihnen!

17 And, any man, who taketh his sister—his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and vieweth her shame, and, she, vieweth his shame, a disgrace, it is, —they shall therefore be cut off in the sight of the sons of their people, —the shame of his sister, hath he uncovered—his iniquity, shall he bear.

Nimmt jemand seines Vaters Tochter oder seiner Mutter Tochter, seine Schwester, und schaut er ihre Blöße und sie schaut seine Blöße, so ist dies Verruchtheit. Sie sollen angesichts ihres Volkes ausgestrichen werden, hat er doch die Blöße seiner Schwester enthüllt; er lädt Schuld auf sich.

18 And, any man, who lieth with a woman having her sickness, and uncovereth her shame, her fountain, hath he exposed, she, also hath uncovered her fountain of blood, —they shall therefore both be cut off out of the midst of their people.

Liegt jemand bei einem Weibe in ihrem Unwohlsein und enthüllt er ihre Blöße und deckt er ihren Quell auf und enthüllt sie den Quell ihrer Blutungen, so sollen beide aus ihrem Volke gestrichen werden!

19 And the shame of thy mother’s sister, or of thy father’s sister, shalt thou not uncover, —for his near of kin, hath he exposed—their iniquity, shall they bear.

Enthülle nicht die Blöße deiner Mutterschwester noch der Vaterschwester! Wer seine eigenen Verwandten entblößt, ihre Schuld sollen sie büßen.

20 And, any man, who lieth with his uncle’s wife, the shame of his uncle, hath he uncovered, —their sin, shall they bear—childless, shall they die.

Liegt jemand bei der Tante, so hat er seines Oheims Blöße enthüllt. Sie laden ihre Schuld auf sich. Kinderlos werden sie sterben.

21 And, any man, who taketh his brother’s wife, impurity, it is, —the shame of his brother, hath he uncovered—childless, shall they remain.

Nimmt jemand seines Bruders Weib, so ist es Blutschande. Er hat seines Bruders Blöße enthüllt. Kinderlos werden sie bleiben.

22 Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes and all my regulations, and do them, —So shall the land whereinto I am bringing you to dwell therein, not vomit you forth;

Haltet alle meine Vorschriften und Satzungen! Tut sie, daß euch das Land nicht ausspeie, in das ich euch bringe, darin zu siedeln!

23 So shall ye not walk in the—statutes of the nations, which I am casting out from before you, —For all these things, had they done, Therefore I abhorred them;

Ihr sollt nicht nach den Satzungen der Heiden wandeln, die ich vor euch vertreibe! Denn all das haben sie getan, daß es mich vor ihnen ekelte.

24 And said unto you—Ye, shall possess their soil, Yea, I myself, will give it you to possess it, A land flowing with milk and honey, —I—Yahweh, am your God, who have distinguished you from the peoples;

Ich sprach zu euch: Ihr sollt ihr Land zu eigen haben. Ich gebe es euch zum Besitz, ein Land, von Milch und Honig fließend. Ich, der Herr, bin euer Gott, der euch von den anderen Völkern gesondert hat.

25 Therefore shall ye make a distinction—Between the clean beasts, and the unclean, —And between the unclean birds and the clean, —So shall ye not make your persons abominable with beast, or with bird or with anything which creepeth upon the ground, which I have distinguished for you, as unclean.

So scheidet zwischen reinem und unreinem Vieh, reinem und unreinem Geflügel! Ihr sollt euch selbst nicht abscheulich machen durch das Vieh, das Geflügel oder durch das, was auf dem Boden kriecht und was ich für euch als unrein ausgesondert habe!

26 Therefore shall ye be unto me, holy persons, for, holy, am, I—Yahweh, —Therefore have I distinguished you from the peoples, that ye may be mine.

Seid mir heilig! Denn ich, der Herr, bin heilig. Ich sondere euch von den Völkern, daß ihr mein seiet.

27 And as touching man or woman, when there shall be in them a familiar spirit, or the spirit of an oracle, they shall, surely be put to death, —with stones, shall they be stoned—their blood, shall be upon themselves.

Ist in einem Mann oder Weib ein Toten- oder Wahrsagegeist, so sollen sie den Tod leiden! Man soll sie steinigen! Ihre Blutschuld bleibt bei ihnen.'"
