Judges 7
1 Then Jerubbaal, the same, is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and encamped by the fountain of Harod, —and, the camp of Midian, was on the north of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the vale.
Qua ngày sau, Giê-ru-ba-anh, tức là Ghê-đê-ôn, và cả dân sự đồng theo người đều dậy sớm, đi đến đóng trại gần bên suối Ha-rốt. Dinh của Ma-đi-an ở phía bắc về lối nổng Mô-rê, trong trũng.
2 And Yahweh said unto Gideon, Too many, are the people that are with thee, for me to deliver the Midianites into their hand, —lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand, hath saved me.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Ghê-đê-ôn rằng: Đạo binh đi theo ngươi lấy làm đông quá, ta chẳng phó dân Ma-đi-an vào tay nó đâu, e Y-sơ-ra-ên đối cùng ta tự khoe mà rằng: Tay tôi đã cứu tôi.
3 Now, therefore, proclaim, I pray thee, in the ears of the people, saying, Whoso feareth and trembleth—let him turn and go back from Mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty-two thousand, and, ten thousand, remained.
Vậy bây giờ, hãy truyền lịnh nầy cho bá tánh nghe: Ai là người sợ hãi run rẩy, khá trở về khỏi núi Ga-la-át! Hai vạn hai ngàn người bèn trở về, còn một vạn người ở lại.
4 Then said Yahweh unto Gideon—Yet, are the people too many, take them down unto the waters, that I may prove them for thee, there, —and it shall be, that, he of whom I say unto thee, This one, shall go with thee, the same, shall go with thee, and, every one of whom I say unto thee, This one, shall not go with thee, the same, shall not go.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Ghê-đê-ôn rằng: Dân hãy còn đông quá, phải biểu chúng xuống nơi mé nước, rồi ta sẽ vì ngươi thử chúng nó tại đó. Hễ kẻ nào ta phán với ngươi rằng: “Nó khá đi với ngươi,” thì nó sẽ đi theo ngươi; còn kẻ nào ta phán cùng ngươi rằng: “Nó chớ đi với ngươi,” thì kẻ đó không đi.
5 So he took down the people unto the waters, —and Yahweh said unto Gideon—Every one that lappeth with his tongue of the water, as a dog lappeth, thou shalt set him by himself, likewise, every one that boweth down upon his knees, to drink.
Vậy, người biểu dân sự xuống mé nước; rồi Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Ghê-đê-ôn rằng: Phàm kẻ nào dùng lưỡi liếm nước như chó, và kẻ nào quì gối cúi xuống mà uống, thì ngươi phải để riêng ra.
6 And so it was, that, the number of them that lapped with their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men, —but, all the rest of the people, bowed down on their knees, to drink water.
Số người bụm nước trong tay rồi kê miệng liếm là ba trăm, còn lại bao nhiêu đều quì gối cúi xuống mà uống.
7 Then said Yahweh unto Gideon—By the three hundred men that lapped, will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let, all [the rest of] the people, go every man to his own place.
Bấy giờ, Đức Giê-hô-va bèn phán cùng Ghê-đê-ôn rằng: Ta sẽ dùng ba trăm người đã liếm nước đó mà giải cứu các ngươi, và ta sẽ phó dân Ma-đi-an vào tay ngươi. Còn dân sự khác, ai nấy đều phải trở về nhà mình!
8 So the people took provisions in their hand, and their horns, but, every man of Israel besides, sent he away every man to his home, whereas, the three hundred men, he retained. Now, the camp of Midian, was beneath him in the vale.
Ghê-đê-ôn cho cả người Y-sơ-ra-ên, ai trở về trại nấy, nhưng giữ lại ba trăm người kia; chúng lấy lương thực và cây kèn trong tay. Vả, dinh Ma-đi-an ở thân dưới người, tại trong trũng.
9 And it came to pass, on that night, that Yahweh said unto him, Arise! go down against the camp, —for I have delivered it into thy hand.
Xảy trong đêm đó, Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Ghê-đê-ôn rằng: Hãy chổi dậy, đi xuống hãm dinh Ma-đi-an, vì ta đã phó nó vào tay ngươi.
10 Or, if, thou, art afraid to go down, go down—thou and Purah thy young man, unto the camp;
Còn nếu ngươi sợ hãm nó, thì hãy đi xuống đó với Phu-ra, đầy tớ ngươi.
11 so shalt thou hear what they shall say, —and, afterward, shall thy hands grow strong, and thou shalt go down against the camp. Then went he down, he and Purah his young man, unto the outmost part of the armed men that were in the camp.
Người sẽ nghe điều chúng nó nói, rồi ngươi sẽ cảm biết rằng mình cóóóóóómạnh mà hãm dinh chúng nó. Vậy, Ghê-đê-ôn đi xuống cùng Phu-ra, đầy tớ mình, đến gần nơi lính canh ở đầu dinh.
12 Now, the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the sons of the east, were lying along in the vale, like locusts for multitude, —their camels also, were without number, as the sand that is by the sea side, for multitude.
Vả, dân Ma-đi-an, dân A-ma-léc, và hết thảy người phương Đông bủa ra trong trũng đông như cào cào, còn lạc đà của chúng nó thì vô số, khác nào cát nơi bờ biển.
13 And Gideon came in, and lo! a man relating to his neighbour a dream, —and he said—Lo! a dream, have I dreamt, and lo! a round cake of barley bread tumbling into the camp of Midian, and it came as far as the tent—and smote it that it fell, and turned it upside down, and the tent lay along.
Trong lúc Ghê-đê-ôn đến, có một người thuật điềm chiêm bao cho bạn mình nghe, rằng: Nầy, tôi có một điềm chiêm bao, thấy một cái bánh nhỏ bằng bột lúa mạch lăn vào trại quân Ma-đi-an: nó lăn đến một trại, đụng làm cho trại ngã, lật ngược trên lộn dưới, nên trại bị đánh đổ.
14 Then responded his neighbour and said: —Nothing else, is this, than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, a man of Israel, —God hath delivered into his hand, both Midian and all the host.
Bọn người đáp rằng: Đó nào khác hơn là gươm của Ghê-đê-ôn, con trai Giô-ách, người Y-sơ-ra-ên. Đức Chúa Trời đã phó Ma-đi-an và cả trại quân vào tay người.
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the story of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he bowed himself down, —and returned unto the camp of Israel, and said—Arise! for Yahweh hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
Khi Ghê-đê-ôn nghe lời thuật điềm chiêm bao nầy và sự bàn điềm đó, thì thờ lạy Đức Chúa Trời; rồi trở về trại quân Y-sơ-ra-ên, mà rằng: Hãy chổi dậy, vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã phó trại quân Ma-đi-an vào tay các ngươi!
16 And he divided the three hundred men, into three companies, —and put horns into the hands of them all, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers.
Đoạn, người chia ba trăm người làm ba đội, phát cho mỗi tên những kèn, bình không, và đuốc ở trong bình,
17 Then he said unto them, On me, shall ye look, and, in like manner, shall ye do, —and lo! when I am coming unto the outermost part of the camp, then shall it be, that, as I do, so, shall ye do.
mà dặn rằng: Hãy ngó ta, và làm y như ta làm; khi ta đến đầu trại quân, các ngươi sẽ làm theo điều ta làm.
18 When I shall blow with the horn, I and all who are with me, then shall, ye also, round about all the camp, blow with your horns, and shall say, For Yahweh and for Gideon!
Khi ta và những kẻ theo ta thổi kèn, thì các ngươi cũng sẽ thổi kèn ở khắp xung quanh trại quân, và reo lên rằng: Vì Đức Giê-hô-va và vì Ghê-đê-ôn!
19 So Gideon came, and the hundred men that were with him, unto the outermost part of the camp, at the beginning of the middle watch, they had but, newly set, the watchers, —and they blew with the horns, and brake in pieces the pitchers, that were in their hand.
Ghê-đê-ôn và một trăm quân theo người đi đến đầu trại quân vào lúc canh ba, hồi mới giao canh. Chúng thổi kèn, và đập bể bình mình cầm nơi tay.
20 Yea the three companies blew with the horns, and shivered the pitchers, and caught hold—with their left hands—of the torches, while, in their right hands, were the horns, to blow with, —and they cried, A sword for Yahweh, and for Gideon!
Bấy giờ, ba đội quân thổi kèn, và đập bể bình, tay tả cầm đuốc, tay hữu nắm kèn đặng thổi; đoạn cất tiếng reo lên rằng: Gươm của Đức Giê-hô-va và của Ghê-đê-ôn!
21 And they stood still, every man in his place, round about the camp, —and all the host ran and shouted, and fled.
Chúng đứng vây quanh trại quân, ai cứ chỗ nấy; cả trại quân bèn vỡ chạy, cất tiếng la và trốn đi.
22 When the three hundred blew the horns, Yahweh set the sword of every man, against his neighbour, and against all the host, —and the host fled, as far as the Place of Acacias, towards Zererath, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.
Ba trăm người cứ thổi kèn, và khắp trại quân, Đức Giê-hô-va khiến trở gươm của mỗi người chém lẫn bạn mình. Đạo-binh chạy trốn đến Bết-si-ta, về hướng Xê-rê-ra, cho đến bờ cõi A-bên-Mê-hô-la gần Ta-bát.
23 And the men of Israel were called together, out of Naphtali and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, —and pursued Midian.
Người Y-sơ-ra-ên, tức những người chi phái Nép-ta-li, A-se và Ma-na-se hiệp lại mà đuổi theo dân Ma-đi-an.
24 And, messengers, did Gideon send through all the hill country of Ephraim, saying—Go down to meet Midian, and capture, before them, the waters, as far as Beth-barah, and the Jordan. So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and captured the waters, as far as Beth-barah, and the Jordan.
Bấy giờ, Ghê-đê-ôn sai sứ vào khắp núi Eùp-ra-im đặng nói rằng: Hãy xuống đón dân Ma-đi-an, chận đường chúng nó qua sông, cho đến Bết-Ba-ra và các chỗ cạn của Giô-đanh. Vậy, các người Eùp-ra-im hiệp lại, chiếm các bến cho đến Bết-Ba-ra, cùng những chỗ cạn của Giô-đanh.
25 And they captured the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb at Oreb’s Rock, and, Zeeb, they slew at Zeeb’s Winepress, and pursued Midian, —and, the heads of Oreb and Zeeb, brought they in unto Gideon at the ford of the Jordan.
Chúng cũng bắt được hai quan trưởng của dân Ma-đi-an, là Ô-rép và Xê-ép; giết Ô-rép tại nơi hòn đá Ô-rép, và Xê-ép tại nơi máy ép rượu Xê-ép. Đoạn, họ đuổi theo dân Ma-đi-an, cùng đem đầu Ô-rép và đầu Xê-ép đến Ghê-đê-ôn ở phía bên kia sông Giô-đanh.
