Judges 7
1 Then Jerubbaal, the same, is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and encamped by the fountain of Harod, —and, the camp of Midian, was on the north of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the vale.
Levantándose, pues, de mañana Jerobaal, el cual es Gedeón, y todo el pueblo que estaba con él, asentaron el campamento junto a la fuente de Harod; y tenía el campamento de los madianitas al norte, al otro lado del collado de More, en el valle.
2 And Yahweh said unto Gideon, Too many, are the people that are with thee, for me to deliver the Midianites into their hand, —lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand, hath saved me.
Y el SEÑOR dijo a Gedeón: El pueblo que está contigo es mucho para que yo dé a los madianitas en su mano; para que no se alabe Israel contra mí, diciendo: Mi mano me ha salvado.
3 Now, therefore, proclaim, I pray thee, in the ears of the people, saying, Whoso feareth and trembleth—let him turn and go back from Mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty-two thousand, and, ten thousand, remained.
Haz pues ahora pregonar, que lo oiga el pueblo, diciendo: El que teme y se estremece, madrugue y vuélvase desde el monte de Galaad. Y se volvieron de los del pueblo veintidós mil; y quedaron diez mil.
4 Then said Yahweh unto Gideon—Yet, are the people too many, take them down unto the waters, that I may prove them for thee, there, —and it shall be, that, he of whom I say unto thee, This one, shall go with thee, the same, shall go with thee, and, every one of whom I say unto thee, This one, shall not go with thee, the same, shall not go.
Y el SEÑOR dijo a Gedeón: Aún es mucho el pueblo; llévalos a las aguas, y allí yo te los probaré; y del que yo te dijere: Vaya éste contigo, irá contigo; mas de cualquiera que yo te dijere: Este no vaya contigo, el tal no vaya.
5 So he took down the people unto the waters, —and Yahweh said unto Gideon—Every one that lappeth with his tongue of the water, as a dog lappeth, thou shalt set him by himself, likewise, every one that boweth down upon his knees, to drink.
Entonces llevó el pueblo a las aguas; y el SEÑOR dijo a Gedeón: Cualquiera que lamiere las aguas con su lengua como lame el perro, aquél pondrás aparte; asimismo cualquiera que se doblare sobre sus rodillas para beber.
6 And so it was, that, the number of them that lapped with their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men, —but, all the rest of the people, bowed down on their knees, to drink water.
Y fue el número de los que lamieron las aguas, llegándola con la mano a la boca, trescientos varones; y todo el resto del pueblo se dobló sobre sus rodillas para beber las aguas.
7 Then said Yahweh unto Gideon—By the three hundred men that lapped, will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let, all [the rest of] the people, go every man to his own place.
Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Gedeón: Con estos trescientos varones que lamieron el agua os salvaré, y entregaré a los madianitas en tus manos; y váyase todo el pueblo cada uno a su lugar.
8 So the people took provisions in their hand, and their horns, but, every man of Israel besides, sent he away every man to his home, whereas, the three hundred men, he retained. Now, the camp of Midian, was beneath him in the vale.
Y tomada provisión para el pueblo en sus manos, con sus trompetas, envió a todos los otros israelitas cada uno a su tienda, y retuvo a aquellos trescientos hombres; y tenía el campamento de Madián abajo en el valle.
9 And it came to pass, on that night, that Yahweh said unto him, Arise! go down against the camp, —for I have delivered it into thy hand.
Y aconteció que aquella noche el SEÑOR le dijo: Levántate, y desciende al campamento; porque yo lo he entregado en tus manos.
10 Or, if, thou, art afraid to go down, go down—thou and Purah thy young man, unto the camp;
Y si tienes temor de descender, baja tú con Fura tu criado al campamento,
11 so shalt thou hear what they shall say, —and, afterward, shall thy hands grow strong, and thou shalt go down against the camp. Then went he down, he and Purah his young man, unto the outmost part of the armed men that were in the camp.
y oirás lo que hablan; y entonces tus manos se esforzarán, y descenderás al campamento. Y él descendió con Fura su criado al principio de la gente de armas que estaba en el campamento.
12 Now, the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the sons of the east, were lying along in the vale, like locusts for multitude, —their camels also, were without number, as the sand that is by the sea side, for multitude.
Y Madián, y Amalec, y todos los orientales, estaban tendidos en el valle como langostas en muchedumbre, y sus camellos eran innumerables, como la arena que está a la ribera del mar en multitud.
13 And Gideon came in, and lo! a man relating to his neighbour a dream, —and he said—Lo! a dream, have I dreamt, and lo! a round cake of barley bread tumbling into the camp of Midian, and it came as far as the tent—and smote it that it fell, and turned it upside down, and the tent lay along.
Y cuando llegó Gedeón, he aquí que un hombre estaba contando a su compañero un sueño, diciendo: He aquí yo soñé un sueño: que veía un pan de cebada que rodaba hasta el campamento de Madián, y llegaba a las tiendas, y las herió de tal manera que cayeron, y las trastornaba de arriba abajo, y las tiendas cayeron.
14 Then responded his neighbour and said: —Nothing else, is this, than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, a man of Israel, —God hath delivered into his hand, both Midian and all the host.
Y su compañero respondió, y dijo: Esto no es otra cosa sino el cuchillo de Gedeón hijo de Joas, varón de Israel; Dios ha entregado en sus manos a los madianitas con todo el campamento.
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the story of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he bowed himself down, —and returned unto the camp of Israel, and said—Arise! for Yahweh hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
Y cuando Gedeón oyó la historia del sueño y su interpretación, adoró; y vuelto al campamento de Israel, dijo: Levantaos, que el SEÑOR ha entregado el campamento de Madián en vuestras manos.
16 And he divided the three hundred men, into three companies, —and put horns into the hands of them all, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers.
Y repartiendo los trescientos hombres en tres escuadrones, dio a cada uno de ellos trompetas en sus manos, y cántaros vacíos con teas ardiendo dentro de los cántaros.
17 Then he said unto them, On me, shall ye look, and, in like manner, shall ye do, —and lo! when I am coming unto the outermost part of the camp, then shall it be, that, as I do, so, shall ye do.
Y les dijo: Miradme a mí, y haced como yo hiciere; he aquí que cuando yo llegare al principio del campamento, como yo hiciere, así haréis vosotros.
18 When I shall blow with the horn, I and all who are with me, then shall, ye also, round about all the camp, blow with your horns, and shall say, For Yahweh and for Gideon!
Yo tocaré la trompeta y todos los que estarán conmigo; y vosotros tocaréis entonces las trompetas alrededor de todo el campamento, y diréis: ¡El SEÑOR y Gedeón!
19 So Gideon came, and the hundred men that were with him, unto the outermost part of the camp, at the beginning of the middle watch, they had but, newly set, the watchers, —and they blew with the horns, and brake in pieces the pitchers, that were in their hand.
Llegó pues Gedeón, y los cien varones que llevaba consigo, al principio del campamento, al principio de la vela del medio, despertando solamente los guardias; y tocaron las trompetas, y quebraron los cántaros que llevaban en sus manos.
20 Yea the three companies blew with the horns, and shivered the pitchers, and caught hold—with their left hands—of the torches, while, in their right hands, were the horns, to blow with, —and they cried, A sword for Yahweh, and for Gideon!
Y los tres escuadrones tocaron sus trompetas, y quebrando los cántaros tomaron en la mano izquierda las teas, y en la derecha las trompetas con que tocaban, y dieron grita: -¡El cuchillo del SEÑOR y el de Gedeón!
21 And they stood still, every man in his place, round about the camp, —and all the host ran and shouted, and fled.
Y se estuvieron en sus lugares en derredor del campamento; y todo el campamento fue alborotado, y huyeron gritando.
22 When the three hundred blew the horns, Yahweh set the sword of every man, against his neighbour, and against all the host, —and the host fled, as far as the Place of Acacias, towards Zererath, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.
Mas los trescientos tocaban las trompetas; y el SEÑOR puso el cuchillo de cada uno contra su compañero en todo el campamento. Y el ejército huyó hasta Bet-sita, hacia Zerera, y hasta el término de Abel-mehola en Tabat.
23 And the men of Israel were called together, out of Naphtali and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, —and pursued Midian.
Y juntándose los de Israel de Neftalí, y de Aser, y de todo Manasés, siguieron a los madianitas.
24 And, messengers, did Gideon send through all the hill country of Ephraim, saying—Go down to meet Midian, and capture, before them, the waters, as far as Beth-barah, and the Jordan. So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and captured the waters, as far as Beth-barah, and the Jordan.
Gedeón también envió mensajeros a todo el monte de Efraín, diciendo: Descended al encuentro de los madianitas, y tomadles las aguas hasta Bet-bara y el Jordán. Y juntos todos los varones de Efraín, tomaron las aguas de Bet-bara y el Jordán.
25 And they captured the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb at Oreb’s Rock, and, Zeeb, they slew at Zeeb’s Winepress, and pursued Midian, —and, the heads of Oreb and Zeeb, brought they in unto Gideon at the ford of the Jordan.
Y tomaron dos príncipes de los madianitas, Oreb y Zeeb; y mataron a Oreb en la peña de Oreb, y a Zeeb lo mataron en el lagar de Zeeb; y después que siguieron a los madianitas, trajeron las cabezas de Oreb y de Zeeb a Gedeón al otro lado del Jordán.
