Judges 17

1 And there was a man of the hill country of Ephraim, whose, name, was Micah.

Es war ein Mann auf dem Gebirge Ephraim namens Micha;

2 And he said unto his mother—The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken by thee, when, thou, didst utter a curse, and didst also say in my hearing, Lo! the silver, is with me! I took it. Then said his mother, Blessed, be my son by Yahweh.

der sprach zu seiner Mutter: Die elfhundert Silbersekel, die dir entwendet worden sind, daher du eine Verwünschung ausgestoßen und in meiner Gegenwart gesagt hast: - - dieses Geld ist in meiner Verwahrung; ich habe es entwendet: aber nun will ich es dir zurückgeben! Seine Mutter erwiderte: Mögest du von Jahwe gesegnet sein, mein Sohn!

3 And, when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said—I had, hallowed, the silver unto Yahweh out of mine own hand, for my son, to make a graved (molten) image, now, therefore, I will restore it unto thee.

So gab er seiner Mutter die elfhundert Silbersekel zurück. Seine Mutter aber sprach: Ich will das Geld Jahwe geweiht haben und zum Besten meines Sohns darauf verzichten, damit ein Schnitz- und Gußbild daraus verfertigt wird.

4 But he restored the silver to his mother, —so his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave it to the silversmith, who made thereof a graved (molten) image, and it was in the house of Micah.

Da nahm seine Mutter zweihundert Silbersekel und gab sie einem Goldschmied, der machte daraus ein Schnitz- und Gußbild. Das kam in das Haus Michas.

5 Now, the man Micah, had a house of gods, —and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and installed one of his sons, who became his priest.

Und der Mann Micha, der war im Besitz eines Gotteshauses; dazu ließ er einen Ephod und Teraphim fertigen und stellte einen seiner Söhne an, daß er ihm als Priester diente.

6 In those days, there was no king in Israel, —every man did, that which was right in his own eyes.

Zu jener Zeit gab es keinen König in Israel; jeder that, was ihm gutdünkte.

7 And there was a young man out of Bethlehem-judah, of the family of Judah, —he, being a Levite, and, he, being a sojourner there.

Nun war ein junger Mann zu Bethlehem in Juda aus dem Geschlecht Juda; der war ein Levit und verweilte dort als Fremder.

8 So the man took his journey out of the city, out of Bethlehem-judah, to sojourn, wheresoever he could find [a home], —and he came into the hill country of Ephraim, as far as the house of Micah, in pursuing his journey.

Derselbe verließ die Stadt Bethlehem in Juda, um als Fremder zu verweilen, wo es sich träfe, und gelangte auf das Gebirge Ephraim zum Hause Michas, um dann seine Reise fortzusetzen.

9 And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him—A Levite, am I, from Bethlehem-judah, and, I, am taking my journey to sojourn, wheresoever I can find [a home].

Micha fragte ihn: Woher kommst du? Er antwortete ihm: Ich bin ein Levit aus Bethlehem in Juda; ich bin unterwegs, um mich niederzulassen, wo ich es treffe.

10 And Micah said unto him—Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and, I, will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy sustenance. So the Levite went.

Micha erwiderte ihm: Bleibe bei mir und sei mir Vater und Priester, so will ich dir jährlich zehn Silbersekel geben und den Aufwand für Kleider und deinen Lebensunterhalt.

11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man, —and the young man became to him, as one of his sons.

Da willigte der Levit ein, bei dem Manne zu bleiben, und der junge Mann galt ihm wie einer seiner Söhne.

12 And Micah installed the Levite, and the young man became his priest, —and remained in the house of Micah.

So stellte Micha den Leviten an, und der junge Mann wurde sein Priester und blieb in Michas Hause.

13 Then said Micah—Now, I know that Yahweh will do me good, —seeing I have a Levite as my priest.

Da sprach Micha: Nun weiß ich gewiß, daß mir Jahwe wohlthun wird, weil ich den Leviten zum Priester habe.
