Judges 14
1 And Samson went down to Timnath, —and saw a woman in Timnath, of the daughters of the Philistines.
Und Simson ging nach Timnat hinab und sah daselbst ein Weib unter den Töchtern der Philister.
2 So he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said—A woman, have I seen in Timnath, of the daughters of the Philistines, —now, therefore, take her for me, to wife.
Und als er wieder heraufkam, sagte er es seinem Vater und seiner Mutter und sprach: Ich habe ein Weib gesehen zu Timnat, unter den Töchtern der Philister; nehmt mir sie doch zum Weibe!
3 And his father and his mother said to him—Is there not, among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, a woman, that thou art going away to take a woman from among the uncircumcised Philistines? But Samson said unto his father—Take, her, for me, for, she, is pleasant in mine eyes.
Sein Vater und seine Mutter sprachen zu ihm: Ist denn kein Weib unter den Töchtern deiner Brüder oder unter meinem Volk, daß du hingehst und ein Weib nimmst bei den Philistern, die unbeschnitten sind? Simson sprach zu seinem Vater: Nimm mir diese, denn sie ist recht in meinen Augen!
4 Now, his father and his mother, knew not, that, from Yahweh, it was, that, an occasion, he was seeking of the Philistines, —at that time, the Philistines having dominion over Israel.
Aber sein Vater und seine Mutter wußten nicht, daß es von dem HERRN kam, und daß er gegenüber den Philistern einen Anlaß suchte. Die Philister herrschten nämlich zu jener Zeit über Israel.
5 So Samson went down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, —and they came as far as the vineyards of Timnath, when lo! a young lion, roaring to meet him.
Also ging Simson mit seinem Vater und mit seiner Mutter gen Timnat hinab. Und als sie an die Weinberge bei Timnat kamen, siehe, da begegnete ihm ein junger brüllender Löwe!
6 And the Spirit of Yahweh, came suddenly over him, and he tore it in pieces as if he had torn in pieces a kid, there being, nothing at all, in his hand, —but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
Da kam der Geist des HERRN über ihn, so daß er den Löwen zerriß, als ob er ein Böcklein zerrisse, und er hatte doch gar nichts in seiner Hand; er verriet aber seinem Vater und seiner Mutter nicht, was er getan hatte.
7 So he went down, and spake unto the woman, —and she was pleasant in the eyes of Samson.
Als er nun hinabkam, redete er mit dem Weibe, und sie war in Simsons Augen recht.
8 And he returned, after a time, to take her, and went aside to see the carcass of the lion, —and lo! a swarm of bees, in the body of the lion, and, honey,
Und nach etlichen Tagen kam er wieder, um sie zu nehmen, und trat aus dem Wege, um das Aas des Löwen zu besehen; und siehe, da war ein Bienenschwarm und Honig in dem Aas des Löwen.
9 which he took into his hands, and went on—eating as he went, and came unto his father and unto his mother, and gave unto them, and they did eat, —but he told them not that, out of the carcass of the lion, he had taken the honey.
Und er nahm davon in seine Hand und aß davon unterwegs und ging zu seinem Vater und zu seiner Mutter und gab ihnen, und sie aßen auch. Er verriet ihnen aber nicht, daß er den Honig von dem Aas des Löwen genommen hatte.
10 And his father went down unto the woman, —and Samson made there a banquet, for, so, used the young men, to do.
Und als sein Vater zu dem Weibe hinabkam, machte Simson daselbst ein Hochzeitsmahl; denn also pflegten die Jünglinge zu tun.
11 And it came to pass, because they feared him, that they took thirty companions, who remained with him.
Sobald sie ihn aber sahen, gaben sie ihm dreißig Gefährten, die bei ihm sein sollten.
12 And Samson said unto them, I pray you let me put you forth a riddle, —if ye, tell, it me, within the seven days of the banquet, and find it out, then will I give you thirty linen wraps and thirty changes of raiment;
Zu diesen sagte Simson: Ich will euch doch ein Rätsel aufgeben; wenn ihr mir dasselbe erratet und löset innert der sieben Tage des Hochzeitsmahles, so will ich euch dreißig Hemden und dreißig Feierkleider geben.
13 but, if ye cannot tell me, then shall, ye, give me thirty linen wraps, and thirty changes of raiment. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.
Könnt ihr es aber nicht erraten, so sollt ihr mir dreißig Hemden und dreißig Feierkleider geben. Und sie sprachen: Gib dein Rätsel auf, wir wollen es hören!
14 And he said to them—Out of the eater, came forth food, And, out of the strong, came forth sweetness. But they could not tell the riddle, in three days.
Er sprach zu ihnen: «Speise ging aus von dem Fresser, und Süßigkeit ging aus von dem Starken.» Und sie konnten in drei Tagen das Rätsel nicht erraten.
15 And it came to pass, on the fourth day, that they said to Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may tell us the riddle, lest we burn thee and the house of thy father, with fire. Was it not, to impoverish us, that ye invited us—was it not?
Am siebenten Tage sprachen sie zu Simsons Weib: Überrede deinen Mann, daß er uns dieses Rätsel verrate, sonst werden wir dich und deines Vaters Haus mit Feuer verbrennen! Habt ihr uns darum hierher geladen, um uns arm zu machen?
16 And the wife of Samson wept upon him, and said—Thou dost, altogether hate me, and dost not love me, a riddle, hast thou put forth to the sons of my people, and, unto me, thou hast not told it! And he said to her, Lo! to my own father and mother, have I not told it, and, to thee, shall I tell it?
Da weinte Simsons Weib vor ihm und sprach: Du bist mir nur gram und hast mich nicht lieb! Du hast den Kindern meines Volkes dieses Rätsel aufgegeben und hast es mir nicht verraten! Er aber sprach zu ihr: Siehe, ich habe es meinem Vater und meiner Mutter nicht verraten; und sollte es dir verraten?
17 So she wept upon him the seven days, —while their banquet lasted, —and it came to pass, on the seventh day, that he told her, because she urged him, and she told the riddle unto the sons of her people.
Sie weinte aber sieben Tage lang vor ihm, während sie das Hochzeitsmahl hielten; aber am siebenten Tage verriet er es ihr; denn sie nötigte ihn. Und sie verriet das Rätsel den Kindern ihres Volkes.
18 And the men of the city said to him, on the seventh day—ere yet the sun went in, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them: If ye had not ploughed with my heifer, Ye had not found out my riddle!
Da sprachen die Männer der Stadt am siebenten Tage, ehe die Sonne unterging, zu ihm: Was ist süßer als Honig? Und wer ist stärker als der Löwe? Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Hättet ihr nicht mit meinem Rinde gepflügt, so hättet ihr mein Rätsel nicht erraten!
19 And the Spirit of Yahweh, came suddenly over him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and smote of them thirty men, and took their garments, and gave the changes [of raiment] to them who had told the riddle, —and his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
Und der Geist des HERRN kam über ihn, und er ging hinab gen Askalon und erschlug dreißig Männer unter ihnen und nahm ihre Kleider und gab denen die Feierkleider, welche das Rätsel erraten hatten. Und weil sein Zorn entbrannt war, ging er hinauf in seines Vaters Haus.
20 And the wife of Samson was given unto his companion who had served him as his friend.
Aber das Weib Simsons ward einem seiner Gefährten gegeben, der ihm beigesellt gewesen war.
