Joshua 1

1 And it came to pass, after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, —that Yahweh spake unto Joshua son of Nun, the attendant of Moses, saying:

യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെയുടെ മരണശേഷം യഹോവ നൂന്റെ മകനായി മോശെയുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷകനായ യോശുവയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:

2 Moses my servant, is dead, —Now, therefore, arise, pass over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, into the land which I am giving unto them—unto the sons of Israel.

എന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെ മരിച്ചു; ആകയാൽ നീയും ഈ ജനമൊക്കെയും പുറപ്പെട്ടു യോൎദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു കടന്നുപോകുവിൻ.

3 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread, unto you, have I given it, —as I spake unto Moses.

നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്ളങ്കാൽ ചവിട്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലമൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

4 From the desert and this Lebanon, even unto the great river—the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea, toward the going in of the sun, shall be your boundary.

മരുഭൂമിയും ഈ ലെബാനോനും തുടങ്ങി ഫ്രാത്ത് എന്ന മഹാനദിവരെയും ഹിത്യരുടെ ദേശം ഒക്കെയും പടിഞ്ഞാറു മഹാസമുദ്രംവരെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ അതിരായിരിക്കും.

5 No man shall stand before thee, all the days of thy life, —as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee, I will not fail thee, neither will I forsake thee.

നിന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തു ഒരിക്കലും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും നിന്റെ നേരെ നില്ക്കയില്ല; ഞാൻ മോശെയോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതു പോലെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെയും ഇരിക്കും; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കൈവിടുകയില്ല, ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും ഇല്ല.

6 Be firm and bold, —for, thou, shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers, —to give unto them.

ഉറപ്പും ധൈൎയ്യവും ഉള്ളവനായിരിക്ക; ഞാൻ അവൎക്കു കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശം നീ ഈ ജനത്തിന്നു അവകാശമായി വിഭാഗിക്കും.

7 Only be very firm and bold, taking heed to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee, do not turn aside therefrom, to the right hand or to the left, —that thou mayest prosper, whithersoever thou goest.

എന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ന്യായപ്രമാണമൊക്കെയും അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നല്ല ഉറപ്പും ധൈൎയ്യവും ഉള്ളവനായി മാത്രം ഇരിക്ക; ചെല്ലുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും നീ ശുഭമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു വിട്ടു ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ മാറരുതു.

8 This scroll of the law must not cease out of thy mouth, but thou must talk to thyself therein, day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein, —for, then, shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and, then, shalt thou have good success.

ഈ ന്യായപ്രമാണ പുസ്തകത്തിലുള്ളതു നിന്റെ വായിൽനിന്നു നീങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു; അതിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ രാവും പകലും അതു ധ്യാനിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കേണം; എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി സാധിക്കും; നീ കൃതാൎത്ഥനായും ഇരിക്കും.

9 Have I not commanded thee, Be firm and bold, do not start nor be dismayed, —for, with thee, is Yahweh thy God, whithersoever thou goest?

നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നീ പോകുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു ഉറപ്പും ധൈൎയ്യവുമുള്ളവനായിരിക്ക; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

10 So then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:

എന്നാറെ യോശുവ ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രമാണികളോടു കല്പിച്ചതു:

11 Pass ye through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Make ready for yourselves, provisions, —for, in three days more, are ye to pass over this Jordan, to go in and possess the land which Yahweh your God is giving you, to possess.

പാളയത്തിൽ കൂടി കടന്നു ജനത്തോടു: നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ മൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു യോൎദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കടക്കേണ്ടതാകയാൽ ഭക്ഷണസാധനം ഒരുക്കിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിപ്പിൻ.

12 And, unto the Reubenites, and unto the Gadites, and unto the half tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying:

പിന്നെ യോശുവ രൂബേന്യരോടും ഗാദ്യരോടും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, —Yahweh your God, is granting you rest, and doth give you this land.

യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച വചനം ഓൎത്തുകൊൾവിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കി ഈ ദേശവും തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses hath given you over the Jordan, —but, ye, shall pass over, armed, before your brethren, —all ye mighty men of valour, and shall help them;

നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാൎയ്യമാരും കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളും നിങ്ങളുടെ കന്നുകാലികളും യോൎദ്ദാന്നിക്കരെ മോശെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള ദേശത്തിരിക്കട്ടെ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളിൽ യുദ്ധപ്രാപ്തന്മാരായവർ ഒക്കെയും സന്നദ്ധരായി നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാൎക്കു മുമ്പായി കടന്നുചെന്നു

15 until that Yahweh shall grant rest unto your brethren, as unto you, so shall, they also, possess the land which Yahweh your God giveth them, —then shall ye return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh hath given you over the Jordan, towards the rising of the sun.

യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാൎക്കും സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവൎക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്ന ദേശം അവർ കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുവോളം അവരെ സഹായിക്കേണം; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ കിഴക്കു യോൎദ്ദാന്നിക്കരെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള അവകാശദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങി വന്നു അതിനെ അനുഭവിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം.

16 Then responded they to Joshua, saying, —All that thou hast commanded us, will we do, and, whithersoever thou shalt send us, will we go:

അവർ യോശുവയോടു: നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യും; ഞങ്ങളെ അയക്കുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ പോകും.

17 As in every thing we hearkened unto Moses, so, will we hearken unto thee, —only let Yahweh thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

ഞങ്ങൾ മോശെയെ സകലത്തിലും അനുസരിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും അനുസരിക്കും; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ മോശെയോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ മതി.

18 Any man who shall rebel against thy bidding, and not hearken unto thy words in all that thou shalt command him, shall be put to death, —only be firm and bold.

ആരെങ്കിലും നിന്റെ കല്പന മറുക്കയും നീ കല്പിക്കുന്ന യാതൊന്നിലും നിന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ അവൻ മരിക്കേണം; ഉറപ്പും ധൈൎയ്യവും ഉള്ളവനായി മാത്രം ഇരുന്നാലും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
