Joshua 2
1 Then did Joshua son of Nun, send out from The Acacias, two men to spy out silently, saying, Go view the land, and Jericho. So they came, and entered the house of a harlot, whose name was Rahab, and lay there.
Και απέστειλεν Ιησούς ο υιός του Ναυή εκ Σιττείμ δύο άνδρας να κατασκοπεύσωσι κρυφίως, λέγων, Υπάγετε, ίδετε την γην και την Ιεριχώ. Οι δε υπήγον και εισήλθον εις οικίαν γυναικός πόρνης, ονομαζομένης Ραάβ, και κατέλυσαν εκεί.
2 And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, —Lo! men, have come in hither to-night of the sons of Israel to search out the land.
Απήγγειλαν δε προς τον βασιλέα της Ιεριχώ, λέγοντες, Ιδού, ήλθον ενταύθα την νύκτα άνδρες εκ των υιών Ισραήλ, διά να κατασκοπεύσωσι την γην.
3 So the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, —Bring forth the men that are come in unto thee who have entered thy house, for, to search out all the land, have they come.
Και απέστειλεν ο βασιλεύς της Ιεριχώ προς την Ραάβ, λέγων, Εξάγαγε τους άνδρας τους εισελθόντας προς σε, οίτινες εισήλθον εις την οικίαν σου· διότι ήλθον να κατασκοπεύσωσι πάσαν την γην.
4 And the woman took the two men and hid them, —and said: Even so, the men did come in unto me, but I knew not from whence they were;
Και λαβούσα η γυνή τους δύο άνδρας έκρυψεν αυτούς και είπε, Ναι μεν εισήλθον προς εμέ οι άνδρες και δεν εξεύρω πόθεν ήσαν·
5 and it came to pass, as the gate was about to be shut in the darkness, that, the men, went out, I know not whither the men went, —pursue them quickly for ye shall overtake them.
ενώ δε έμελλε να κλεισθή η πύλη, ότε εσκότασεν, οι άνδρες εξήλθον· δεν εξεύρω που υπήγον οι άνδρες· τρέξατε ταχέως κατόπιν αυτών, διότι θέλετε προφθάσει αυτούς.
6 But, she, had taken them up to the roof, —and concealed them with the stalks of flax which she had laid in order for herself upon the roof.
Αυτή όμως είχεν αναβιβάσει αυτούς επί το δώμα και σκεπάσει αυτούς με λινοκαλάμην, την οποίαν είχεν εστοιβαγμένην επί του δώματος.
7 So, the men, pursued them by way of the Jordan unto the fords, —the gate being shut as soon as they who pursued them had gone forth.
Και οι άνδρες έτρεξαν κατόπιν αυτών διά της οδού της προς τον Ιορδάνην, μέχρι των διαβάσεων· και ευθύς αφού ανεχώρησαν οι τρέχοντες κατόπιν αυτών, εκλείσθη η πύλη.
8 And, ere yet they slept, she, went up unto them, upon the roof;
Και πριν εκείνοι πλαγιάσωσιν, αυτή ανέβη προς αυτούς επί το δώμα.
9 and said unto the men, I know that Yahweh hath given unto you the land, —and that the terror of you hath fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land, have melted away, from before you.
Και είπε προς τους άνδρας, Γνωρίζω ότι ο Κύριος έδωκεν εις εσάς την γήν· και ότι ο τρόμος σας επέπεσεν εφ' ημάς, και ότι πάντες οι κάτοικοι της γης ενεκρώθησαν εκ του φόβου σας·
10 For we have heard how Yahweh, dried up, the waters of the Red Sea from before you, when ye came forth out of Egypt, —and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites who were over the Jordan unto Sihon and unto Og, whom ye devoted to destruction;
επειδή ηκούσαμεν πως ο Κύριος εξήρανε τα ύδατα της Ερυθράς θαλάσσης έμπροσθέν σας, ότε εξήλθετε εξ Αιγύπτου· και τι εκάμετε εις τους δύο βασιλείς των Αμορραίων, τους πέραν του Ιορδάνου, εις τον Σηών και εις τον Ωγ, τους οποίους εξωλοθρεύσατε·
11 and, when we heard, then did our heart melt, and there rose up no longer any spirit in any man because of you, —for, as for Yahweh your God, he, is God—in the heavens above, and upon the earth beneath.
και καθώς ηκούσαμεν, διελύθη καρδία ημών, και δεν έμεινε πλέον πνοή εις ουδένα εκ του φόβου σας· διότι Κύριος ο Θεός σας, αυτός είναι Θεός εν τω ουρανώ άνω και επί της γης κάτω.
12 Now, therefore I pray you, swear unto me by Yahweh, since I have dealt with you in lovingkindness, that, ye also, will deal with the house of my father in lovingkindness, and will give me a token of faithfulness,
Και τώρα, ομόσατέ μοι, παρακαλώ, εις τον Κύριον ότι, καθώς εγώ έκαμα έλεος εις εσάς, θέλετε κάμει και σεις έλεος εις την οικογένειαν του πατρός μου· και δότε εις εμέ σημείον πίστεως,
13 and will save alive my father and my mother, and my brethren and my sisters, and all that they have, —and will deliver our souls from death.
ότι θέλετε φυλάξει την ζωήν εις τον πατέρα μου και εις την μητέρα μου και εις τους αδελφούς μου και εις τας αδελφάς μου και πάντα όσα έχουσι, και θέλετε σώσει την ζωήν ημών εκ του θανάτου.
14 And the men said unto her, Our souls in your stead unto death, if ye utter not this our business, —so shall it be, when Yahweh shall give us the land, that we will deal with thee in lovingkindness and in faithfulness.
Και απεκρίθησαν προς αυτήν οι άνδρες, Η ζωή ημών εις θάνατον ας παραδοθή αντί της ιδικής σας, αν μόνον δεν φανερώσητε ταύτην την υπόθεσιν ημών, εάν ημείς, όταν ο Κύριος παραδώση εις ημάς την γην, δεν δείξωμεν έλεος και πίστιν εις σε.
15 And she let them down with a cord through the window, —for, her house, was within the wall of the rampart, and, within the rampart, she was dwelling.
Τότε κατεβίβασεν αυτούς με σχοινίον διά της θυρίδος· διότι η οικία αυτής ήτο εν τω τείχει της πόλεως και εν τω τείχει κατώκει.
16 And she said unto them—To the mountain, get you, lest the pursuers, fall in, with you, —and hide yourselves there, three days until the pursuers return, and, afterwards, shall ye go your way.
Και είπε προς αυτούς, Απέλθετε εις την ορεινήν, διά να μη σας συναντήσωσιν οι καταδιώκοντες· και κρύφθητε εκεί τρεις ημέρας, εωσού επιστρέψωσιν οι καταδιώκοντες· και έπειτα θέλετε υπάγει εις την οδόν σας.
17 And the men said unto her, —Free, will we be from this thine oath which thou hast made us swear:
Και είπαν προς αυτήν οι άνδρες, Ούτω θέλομεν είσθαι καθαροί από του όρκου σου τούτου, τον οποίον έκαμες ημάς να ομόσωμεν·
18 Lo! when we are coming into the land, this cord of crimson thread, must thou bind in the window by which thou didst let us down, and, thy father and thy mother and thy brethren and all the household of thy father, must thou gather together unto thee unto the house.
ιδού, όταν ημείς εισερχώμεθα εις την γην, θέλεις δέσει το σχοινίον τούτου του κοκκίνου νήματος εις την θυρίδα, από της οποίας κατεβίβασας ημάς· και τον πατέρα σου και την μητέρα σου και τους αδελφούς σου και πάσαν την οικογένειαν του πατρός σου, θέλεις συνάξει προς σεαυτήν εις την οικίαν·
19 And it shall be, whosoever shall go forth out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood, shall be on his own head and, we, shall be free, —but, whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood, shall be on our heads, if a, hand, be upon him.
και πας όστις εξέλθη εκ της θύρας της οικίας σου, το αίμα αυτού θέλει είσθαι επί της κεφαλής αυτού, ημείς δε θέλομεν είσθαι καθαροί· όστις δε μένη μετά σου εν τη οικία, το αίμα αυτού θέλει είσθαι επί της κεφαλής ημών, εάν τις βάλη χείρα επ' αυτόν·
20 Or, if thou utter this our business, then shall we be free from this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
αλλ' εάν φανερώσης την υπόθεσιν ημών ταύτην, τότε θέλομεν είσθαι λελυμένοι από του όρκου σου, τον οποίον έκαμες ημάς να ομόσωμεν.
21 And she said—According to your words, so, shall it be. Thus sent she them away and they departed, —and she bound the crimson cord in the window.
Και είπε, Κατά τους λόγους σας, ούτως, ας γείνη. Και εξαπέστειλεν αυτούς, και ανεχώρησαν· αυτή δε έδεσε το κόκκινον σχοινίον εις την θυρίδα.
22 And they went and came into the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers had returned, —so the pursuers, made search, throughout all the way, but found them not.
Και ανεχώρησαν και ήλθον εις την ορεινήν και έμειναν εκεί τρεις ημέρας, εωσού επέστρεψαν οι καταδιώκοντες· και εζήτησαν αυτούς οι καταδιώκοντες καθ' όλην την οδόν, πλην δεν εύρηκαν.
23 And the two men returned and came down out of the mountain, and crossed over and came unto Joshua, son of Nun, —and recounted to him all that had befallen them;
Και υπέστρεψαν οι δύο άνδρες και κατέβησαν εκ του όρους και διέβησαν και ήλθον προς Ιησούν τον υιόν του Ναυή, και διηγήθησαν προς αυτόν πάντα όσα συνέβησαν εις αυτούς.
24 and they said unto Joshua, Yahweh, hath delivered, into our hand all the land, —moreover also all the inhabitants of the land, have melted away, from before us.
Και είπον προς τον Ιησούν, Βεβαίως ο Κύριος παρέδωκεν εις τας χείρας ημών πάσαν την γήν· και μάλιστα πάντες οι κάτοικοι του τόπου ενεκρώθησαν εκ του φόβου ημών.
