Joshua 16
1 Then came out the lot, for the sons of Joseph, from the Jordan by Jericho, at the waters of Jericho, eastward, —the desert, going up from Jericho, through the hill country to Bethel;
La limite des fils de Joseph part du Jourdain, en face de Jéricho, du côté de l'orient; et de Jéricho, elle monte dans les montagnes désertes de Béthel- Luza;
2 and it goeth out from Bethel towards Luz, —and passeth over unto the boundary of the Archites at Ataroth;
Elle traverse Béthel et côtoie les confins d'Achatarothi.
3 and descendeth westward, unto the boundary of the Japhletites, as far as the boundary of Bethhoron the nether, and as far as Gezer, —and the extensions thereof are to the sea.
Puis, elle se rapproche de la mer à partir des confins d'Aptalim, jusqu'aux confins de Béthoron-la-Basse; c'est là qu'elle aboutit à la mer.
4 So the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.
Les fils de Joseph, Ephraïm et Manassé, eurent là leur héritage.
5 And the boundary of the sons of Ephraim, by their families, was, —yea the boundary of their inheritance on the east, was Ataroth-addar, as far as Beth-horon the upper;
Les limites des fils d'Ephraïm s'étendirent en proportion du nombre de leurs familles. La limite de leur héritage passe, du côté de l'orient, par Ataroth et Eroc, jusqu'à Béthoron-la-Haute et à Gazara.
6 and the boundary goeth out westward at Michmethath, on the north, then the boundary bendeth round easward, to Taanath-shiloh, —and passeth by it on the east to Janoah;
Elle aboutit à la mer dans Icasmon, laissant au nord Therma. Du côté de l'orient, elle tourne en Thénasa et en Sellis, et elle passe à l'orient de Janoca,
7 and goeth down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, —and toucheth upon Jericho, and goeth out at the Jordan.
De Macho, d'Ataroth et de leurs villages; puis, elle va vers Jéricho et finit au Jourdain,
8 From Tappuah, runneth the boundary along westward, to the ravine of Kanah, and the extensions thereof are to the sea, —this, is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, by their families;
De Tapho, elle gagne la mer Salée vers Chelcana, et elle aboutit a cette mer; tel est l'héritage des fils d'Ephraïm par familles.
9 together with the cities which were separated for the sons of Ephraim, in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, —all the cities, with their villages.
Les villes qui sont attribuées aux fils d'Ephraïm sont toutes enclavées, ainsi que leurs villages, dans l'héritage des fils de Manassé.
10 But they did not dispossess the Canaanites who were dwelling in Gazer, —so the Canaanites have dwelt in the midst of Ephraim unto this day, and have become tributary servants.
Les fils d'Ephraïm n'exterminèrent pas le Chananéen qui réside en Gazer; le Chananéen habita cette ville en Ephraïm, jusqu'à ce que vint le Pharaon d'Egypte, qui la prit et l'incendia. Alors, les Egyptiens tuèrent les Chananéens, les Phérézéens et tous les citoyens de Gazer, et le Pharaon la donna en dot à sa fille.
