Joel 2
1 Blow ye a horn in Zion, sound an alarm in my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land, tremble, —for coming is the day of Yahweh, for it is near!—
Stoßet in die Posaune auf Zion, und blaset Lärm auf meinem heiligen Berge! Beben sollen alle Bewohner des Landes; denn es kommt der Tag Jehovas, denn er ist nahe:
2 A day of obscurity and deep gloom, a day of cloud, and thick darkness, as dusk, spread over the mountains, —a people, many and bold, like whom, hath not been from age-past times, and, after whom, shall not be again unto the years of generation after generation.
ein Tag der Finsternis und der Dunkelheit, ein Tag des Gewölks und der Wolkennacht. Wie die Morgendämmerung ist es ausgebreitet über die Berge, ein großes und mächtiges Volk, desgleichen von Ewigkeit her nicht gewesen ist und nach ihm nicht mehr sein wird bis in die Jahre der Geschlechter und Geschlechter.
3 Before him, hath a fire, devoured, and, after him, shall a flame, consume, —As the garden of Eden, is the land before him, but, after him, a desert most desolate, Moreover also, escape, giveth he none.
Vor ihm her verzehrt das Feuer, und nach ihm lodert die Flamme; vor ihm ist das Land wie der Garten Eden, und nach ihm eine öde Wüste, und auch keine Entronnenen läßt es übrig.
4 As the appearance of horses, is his appearance, and, as war-horses, so, shall they run:
Sein Aussehen ist wie das Aussehen von Rossen; und wie Reitpferde, also rennen sie.
5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, shall they rattle along, like the noise of a flame of fire, devouring dry straw, —like a people bold, arrayed for battle.
Gleich Wagengerassel hüpfen sie auf den Gipfeln der Berge, gleich dem Prasseln der Feuerflamme, welche Stoppeln verzehrt; sie sind wie ein mächtiges Volk, zum Kampfe gerüstet.
6 Because of him, shall peoples’, be in anguish, —all faces, have withdrawn their colour.
Vor ihm zittern die Völker, alle Angesichter erblassen.
7 Like heroes, shall they run, like men of war, shall they mount a wall, —and, every one—along his own road, shall they march along, and shall not change their paths;
Sie rennen wie Helden, wie Kriegsleute ersteigen sie die Mauer; und sie ziehen ein jeder auf seinem Wege, und ihre Pfade wechseln sie nicht;
8 Nor, against each other, shall they strike, Each—on his own highway, shall they march, —though, in among the weapons, they fall, they shall not stop.
und keiner drängt den anderen, sie ziehen jeder einzeln auf seiner Bahn; und sie stürzen zwischen den Waffen hindurch und verwunden sich nicht [O. brechen nicht ab, d. h. halten in ihrem Zuge nicht inne.]
9 Upon the city, shall they leap, on the wall, shall they run, up the houses, shall they climb, —through the windows, shall they enter, like a thief,
Sie laufen in der Stadt umher, rennen auf die Mauer, steigen in die Häuser; durch die Fenster dringen sie ein wie der Dieb.
10 Before him, hath quaked the earth, have trembled the heavens, —the sun and the moon, have become dark, and, the stars, have withdrawn their shining;
Vor ihnen erbebt die Erde, erzittert der Himmel; Sonne und Mond verfinstern sich, und die Sterne verhalten ihren Glanz.
11 And, Yahweh, hath uttered his voice, before his host, for great indeed is his camp, for bold is he who executeth his word, —for great is the day of Yahweh, and awful exceedingly, Who then shall endure it?
Und Jehova läßt vor seinem Heere her seine Stimme erschallen, denn sein Heerlager ist sehr groß, denn der Vollstrecker seines Wortes ist mächtig; denn groß ist der Tag Jehovas und sehr furchtbar, und wer kann ihn ertragen?
12 Even now, therefore, urgeth Yahweh, Turn ye unto me, with all your heart, —and with fasting and with weeping, and with lamentation;
Aber auch jetzt noch, spricht Jehova [Eig. ist der Spruch Jehovas, ] kehret um zu mir [Eig. bis zu mir, d. i. völlig zu mir] mit eurem ganzen Herzen, und mit Fasten und mit Weinen und mit Klagen.
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, turn therefore, unto Yahweh your God, —for, gracious and full of compassion, is he, slow to anger, and abundant in loving- kindness, and will grieve over calamity.
Und zerreißet euer Herz und nicht eure Kleider, und kehret um zu Jehova, eurem Gott; denn er ist gnädig und barmherzig, langsam zum Zorn und groß an Güte, und läßt sich des Übels gereuen.
14 Who knoweth, he may turn and grieve, —and leave behind him, a blessing, a meal-offering and a drink-offering, to Yahweh your God?
Wer weiß? er möchte umkehren und es sich gereuen lassen, und er möchte Segen hinter sich zurücklassen: Speisopfer und Trankopfer für Jehova, euren Gott [Vergl. Kap. 1,9-12.]
15 Blow ye a horn, in Zion, —hallow a fast, call a solemn assembly:
Stoßet in die Posaune auf Zion, heiliget ein Fasten, rufet eine Festversammlung aus!
16 Gather the people, hallow a convocation, collect the elders, gather the children, and the sucklings of the breasts, —let the bridegroom, come forth, from his chamber, and the bride from her bower:
Versammelt das Volk, heiliget eine Versammlung, bringet die Ältesten zusammen, versammelt die Kinder und die Säuglinge an den Brüsten; der Bräutigam trete aus seiner Kammer, und die Braut aus ihrem Gemach!
17 Between the porch and the altar, let the priests, weep, the attendants of Yahweh, —and let them say—Look with pity, O Yahweh, upon thy people, and do not deliver thine inheritance to reproach, that the nations, should mock them, Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?
Die Priester, die Diener Jehovas, sollen weinen zwischen der Halle und dem Altar und sprechen: Schone, Jehova, deines Volkes und gib nicht dein Erbteil der Schmähung hin, daß sie den Nationen zur Spottrede [Eig. zum Sprichwort] seien! Warum soll man unter den Völkern sagen: Wo ist ihr Gott?
18 And Yahweh became jealous for his land, —and took pity on his people;
Dann eifert Jehova für sein Land, und er hat Mitleid mit seinem Volke.
19 Then answered Yahweh, and said to his people: —Behold me! sending you the corn, and the new wine and the oil, so shall ye be satisfied therewith; and I will not make you, any more, a reproach among the nations.
Und Jehova antwortet und spricht zu seinem Volke: Siehe, ich sende euch das Korn und den Most und das Öl, daß ihr davon satt werdet; und ich werde euch nicht mehr zum Hohne machen unter den Nationen.
20 And, the Northerner, will I remove far from you, and drive him into a land parched and desolate, with, his face, toward the eastern sea, and, his rear, toward the hinder sea, —then shall come up his ill odour, yea his stench, shall ascend, because he hath shown himself great in doing.
Und ich werde den von Norden Kommenden von euch entfernen und ihn in ein dürres und wüstes Land vertreiben, seinen Vortrab in das vordere Meer und seinen Nachtrab in das hintere Meer [d. h. in das Tote und in das Mittelländische Meer; ] und sein Gestank wird aufsteigen, und aufsteigen sein übler Geruch [Eig. seine Fäulnis, ] weil er Großes getan hat [Zugleich: sich überholen hat.]
21 Be not thou afraid, O soil, —exult and rejoice, because Yahweh, hath shown himself great, in doing.
Fürchte dich nicht, Erde; frohlocke und freue dich! denn Jehova tut Großes.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field, for sprouted have the pastures of the wilderness, —for, the tree, hath borne its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine, have yielded their wealth.
Fürchtet euch nicht, ihr Tiere des Feldes! denn es grünen die Auen der Steppe; denn der Baum trägt seine Frucht, der Feigenbaum und der Weinstock geben ihren Ertrag. [W. ihre Kraft]
23 Ye sons of Zion, then, exult and be glad in Yahweh your God, for he hath given you the seed-rain, in right manner, —Yea he hath caused to descend for you a down-pour, of seed-rain and of the harvest-rain in the first month;
Und ihr, Kinder Zions, frohlocket und freuet euch in Jehova, eurem Gott! Denn er gibt euch den Frühregen nach rechtem Maße, und er läßt euch Regen herabkommen: Frühregen und Spätregen wie zuvor [So mit geringer Textänderung; im hebr. Texte steht: Frühregen und Spätregen zuerst.]
24 So shall the threshing-floors, be filled, with corn, —and the vats, overflow, with new wine and oil.
Und die Tennen werden voll Getreide sein, und die Kufen überfließen von Most und Öl.
25 Then will I make good to you the years which were eaten by the swarming locust, the grass locust, and the corn locust and the creeping locust, —even my great army, which I sent among you.
Und ich werde euch die Jahre erstatten, welche die Heuschrecke, der Abfresser und der Vertilger und der Nager gefressen haben-mein großes Heer, das ich unter euch gesandt habe.
26 And ye shall eat and eat, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of Yahweh your God, who hath dealt with you wondrously, —so shall my people, not be abashed, unto times age-abiding.
Und ihr werdet essen, essen und satt werden, und werdet den Namen Jehovas, eures Gottes, preisen, der Wunderbares an euch getan hat. Und mein Volk soll nimmermehr beschämt werden.
27 So shall ye know that, in the midst of Israel, I am, and that, I, Yahweh, am your God, and none else, —and my people, shall not be abashed, unto times age-abiding.
Und ihr werdet wissen [O. erkennen, erfahren, ] daß ich in Israels Mitte bin, und daß ich, Jehova, euer Gott bin, und keiner sonst. Und mein Volk soll nimmermehr beschämt werden.
28 And it shall come to pass, afterwards, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters, shall prophesy, —your old men, shall dream, dreams, your young men, shall see, visions;
Und danach wird es geschehen, daß ich meinen Geist ausgießen werde über alles Fleisch; und eure Söhne und eure Töchter werden weissagen, eure Greise werden Träume haben, eure Jünglinge werden Gesichte sehen.
29 Moreover also, upon the servants and upon the handmaids—in those days, will I pour out my spirit;
Und selbst über die Knechte und über die Mägde werde ich meinen Geist ausgießen in jenen Tagen. -
30 And I will set forth wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, —blood, and fire, and columns of smoke:
Und ich werde Wunder geben im Himmel und auf der Erde: Blut und Feuer und Rauchsäulen;
31 The sun, shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, —before the coming of the great and awful day of Yahweh.
die Sonne wird sich in Finsternis verwandeln und der Mond in Blut, ehe der Tag Jehovas kommt, der große und furchtbare. -
32 And it shall come to pass, whosoever, shall call on the name of Yahweh, shall be delivered, —For in Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, shall be a delivered remnant, just as Yahweh hath said, and among the survivors, whom Yahweh doth call.
Und es wird geschehen, ein jeder, der den Namen Jehovas anrufen wird, wird errettet werden; denn auf dem Berge Zion und in Jerusalem wird Errettung [O. werden Entronnene] sein, wie Jehova gesprochen hat, und unter den Übriggebliebenen, welche [O. wen] Jehova berufen wird.
