Jeremiah 42

1 Then drew near all the captains of the forces, and Johanan son of Kareah and Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, —and all the people from the least even unto the greatest;

അനന്തരം എല്ലാപടത്തലവന്മാരും കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും ഹോശയ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെസന്യാവും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം സൎവ്വജനവും അടുത്തുവന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു:

2 and said unto Jeremiah the prophet—Let our supplication we beseech thee fall prostrate before thee, and pray thou in our behalf unto Yahweh thy God, in behalf of all this remnant, —for we are left a few out of many, just as thine own eyes do behold us:

നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങൾ നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയും ഞങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്ന കാൎയ്യവും ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അറിയിച്ചുതരേണ്ടതിന്നു ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ സകലജനവുമായ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാൎത്ഥിക്കേണം എന്നുള്ള ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ അംഗീകരിക്കേണമേ.

3 that Yahweh thy God may tell us the way wherein we should walk, —and the thing that we should do.

അസംഖ്യജനമായിരുന്ന ഞങ്ങളിൽ അല്പംപേർ മാത്രമേ ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളു എന്നു നീ സ്വന്തകണ്ണാൽ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 And Jeremiah the prophet, said unto them, I have heard; behold me! praying unto Yahweh your God according to your words, —and it shall come to pass that the whole thing that Yahweh shall answer you, I will tell you, I will keep back from you, nothing.

യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ അവരോടു: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ അംഗീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാൎത്ഥിക്കും; യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നതെല്ലാം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും; ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5 They, therefore said unto Jeremiah, Yahweh be against us, as a witness true and faithful, —if according to all the word which Yahweh thy God shall send thee unto us, so we do not perform:

അവർ യിരെമ്യാവോടു: നീ മുഖാന്തരം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യാതെ ഇരുന്നാൽ, യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ സത്യവും വിശ്വസ്തതയുമുള്ള സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

6 whether for good or for ill, unto the voice of Yahweh our God for which we are sending thee unto him, will we hearken, —to the end it may be well with us, because we will hearken unto the voice of Yahweh our God.

ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്ന ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചിട്ടു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഗുണം വരേണ്ടതിന്നു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു ഗുണമായാലും ദോഷമായാലും ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടനുസരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7 And it came to pass at the end of ten days, that the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah.

പത്തു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

8 Then called he for Johanan son of Kareah, and for all the princes of the forces who were with him—and for all the people from the least even unto the greatest;

അവൻ കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനെയും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ പടത്തലവന്മാരെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം സകലജനത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു:

9 and said unto them, Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel—unto whom ye sent me, to cause your supplication to fall prostrate before him: —

നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു:

10 If ye will indeed abide, in this land, then will I build you up, and not pull [you] down, and plant you and not uproot [you], —for I have compassion as touching the calamity which I have caused you.

നിങ്ങൾ ഈ ദേശത്തു പാൎത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ പൊളിച്ചുകളയാതെ പണികയും നിങ്ങളെ പറിച്ചുകളയാതെ നടുകയും ചെയ്യും; നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുത്തിയ അനൎത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ അനുതപിക്കുന്നു.

11 Do not fear the face of the king of Babylon, of whose face ye are afraid, —do not fear him, Urgeth Yahweh, for with you, am I, to save you, and to deliver you out of his hand:

നിങ്ങൾ പേടിക്കുന്ന ബാബേൽരാജാവിനെ പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ; നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിപ്പാനും അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിപ്പാനും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

12 that I may grant you compassions and he may have compassion upon you, —and suffer you to return unto your own soil.

അവന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു കരുണ തോന്നുവാനും നിങ്ങളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടക്കി അയപ്പാനും തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു കരുണകാണിക്കും.

13 But, since ye are saying, —We will not dwell in this land, —nor hearken unto the voice of Yahweh your God:

എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കാതെ ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ ദേശത്തു പാൎക്കയില്ല;

14 saying, —No! for, into the land of Egypt, will we go, where we shall not see war, nor the sound of a horn, shall we hear, —nor for bread, shall we be famished, —there, then will we dwell

യുദ്ധം കാണ്മാനില്ലാത്തതും കാഹളനാദം കേൾപ്പാനില്ലാത്തതും ആഹാരത്തിന്നു മുട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ, മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു ചെന്നു പാൎക്കും എന്നു പറയുന്നു എങ്കിൽ - യെഹൂദയിൽ ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരേ,

15 Now, therefore, for this cause, hear ye the word of Yahweh, O remnant of Judah, —Thus! saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, —If, ye do indeed set your faces to enter Egypt and do enter to sojourn there,

ഇപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾപ്പിൻ! യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു പോകുവാൻ മുഖം തിരിച്ചു അവിടെ ചെന്നു പാൎക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ -

16 then shall it come to pass that the sword which ye are fearing shall, there, overtake you, in the land of Egypt, —and the famine which ye are dreading, shall, there, lay fast hold of you, in Egypt, and, there, shall ye die.

നിങ്ങൾ പേടിക്കുന്ന വാൾ അവിടെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടുന്ന ക്ഷാമം അവിടെ മിസ്രയീമിൽവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ ബാധിക്കും; അവിടെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ മരിക്കും.

17 So shall it be with all the men who have set their faces to enter Egypt to sojourn there, they shall die by sword, by famine or by pestilence, —and they shall have neither survival nor escape, from the face of the calamity which I am about to bring in upon them.

മിസ്രയീമിൽ ചെന്നു പാൎക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിടെ പോകുവാൻ മുഖം തിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഏവരും വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; ഞാൻ അവൎക്കു വരുത്തുന്ന അനൎത്ഥത്തിൽ അകപ്പെടാതെ അവരിൽ ആരും ശേഷിക്കയോ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയോ ചെയ്കയില്ല.

18 For—Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, —Just as mine anger and mine indignation have been poured out upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall mine indignation be poured out upon you when ye enter into Egypt, —thus shall ye become a curse, and an astonishment and a contempt and a reproach, and ye shall no more see this place.

യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: എന്റെ കോപവും എന്റെ ക്രോധവും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളുടെ മേൽ പകൎന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നേ, നിങ്ങൾ മിസ്രയീമിൽ ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ ക്രോധം നിങ്ങളുടെ മേലും പകരും; നിങ്ങൾ പ്രാക്കിന്നും സ്തംഭനത്തിന്നും ശാപത്തിന്നും നിന്ദെക്കും വിഷയമായ്തീരും; ഈ സ്ഥലം നിങ്ങൾ ഇനി കാണുകയുമില്ല.

19 Yahweh hath spoken concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah, Do not enter into Egypt: Know certainly, that I have taken you to witness to-day.

യെഹൂദയിൽ ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങൾ മിസ്രയീമിൽ പോകരുതു എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ അതു ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ.

20 For ye have deceived yourselves at the cost of your lives, for, ye yourselves, sent me unto Yahweh your God, saying, —Pray thou in our behalf, unto Yahweh our God, —and according to all that Yahweh our God shall say, so, tell us and we will do it.

നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാൎത്ഥിക്കേണം; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കേണം; ഞങ്ങൾ അതുപോലെ ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു.

21 Therefore have I told you to-day, —and yet ye have not hearkened unto the voice of Yahweh your God, even in any thing for which he hath sent me unto you.

ഞാൻ ഇന്നു അതു നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്തു; നിങ്ങളോ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു, ഞാൻ മുഖാന്തരം അവൻ നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിച്ച കാൎയ്യം ഒന്നും അനുസരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇതിൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ചതിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

22 Now, therefore, know ye certainly, that by sword, by famine, or by pestilence, shall ye die, —in the place whither ye have desired to go, to sojourn.

ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ ചെന്നു പാൎപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ.
