Jeremiah 19
1 Thus said Yahweh, Go and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, —and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
Assim diz o Senhor: Vae, e compra uma botija de oleiro, e toma comtigo dos anciãos do povo e dos anciãos dos sacerdotes;
2 Then shalt thou go forth into the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the opening of the gate of potsherds; and proclaim there the words which I shall speak unto thee;
E sae ao valle do filho d'Hinnom, que está á entrada da porta do sol, e apregoa ali as palavras que eu te disser.
3 and shalt say, —Hear ye the word of Yahweh, O kings of Judah And inhabitants of Jerusalem, —Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—God of Israel Behold me! bringing in calamity upon this place, which shall cause the ears of every one that heareth it, to tingle:
E dize: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, ó reis de Judah, e moradores de Jerusalem: assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus d'Israel: Eis que trarei um mal sobre este logar, que quem quer que ouvir retinir-lhe-hão as orelhas:
4 Because they have forsaken me, And have treated this as a foreign place, And have burned incense therein to other gods, which neither they, nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah, have known; And have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
Porquanto me deixaram e alienaram este lugar, e n'elle queimaram incenso a outros deuses, que nunca conheceram, nem elles nem seus paes, nem os reis de Judah; e encheram este logar de sangue de innocentes.
5 And have built the high places of Baal for burning up their sons in the fire as ascending-sacrifices to Baal, —Which I commanded not, Nor spake, Neither came it up on my heart,
Porque edificaram os altos de Baal, para queimarem seus filhos no fogo em holocaustos a Baal; o que nunca lhes ordenei, nem fallei, nem subiu ao meu coração.
6 Therefore, lo! days coming, Declareth Yahweh, When this place shall be called no longer The Topheth, or The Valley of Ben-hinnom, —but—The Valley of Slaughter;
Por isso eis que dias veem, diz o Senhor, em que este logar não se chamará mais Topheth, nem o valle do filho de Hinnom, mas o valle da matança.
7 And I will pour out the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, And I will cause them to fall by the sword, before their enemies, and by the hand of them who seek their life, —
Porque dissiparei o conselho de Judah e de Jerusalem n'este logar, e os farei cair á espada diante de seus inimigos, e pela mão dos que buscam a sua vida d'elles; e darei os seus cadaveres para pasto ás aves dos céus e aos animaes da terra.
8 And I will give their dead bodies for food, to the bird of the heavens and to the beast of the earth; And I will make this city a desolation and a hissing, —every one that passeth by it, shall be astonished and hiss over all her wounds;
E porei esta cidade em espanto e por assobio: todo aquelle que passar por ella se espantará, e assobiará sobre todas as suas pragas.
9 And I will suffer them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, yea every one—the flesh of his friend, will they eat, —in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith, their enemies, and they who seek their lives, will straiten them.
E os farei comer a carne de seus filhos, e a carne de suas filhas, e comerá cada um a carne do seu proximo, no cerco e no aperto em que os apertarão os seus inimigos, e os que buscam a vida d'elles.
10 Then shalt thou break the bottle, before the eyes of the men who are walking with thee;
Então quebrarás a botija aos olhos dos homens que forem comtigo.
11 and shalt say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—Thus and thus, will I break this people, and this city, As one breaketh the vessel of a potter, which cannot be made whole any more, —And in Topheth, shall they bury, for want of place to bury.
E dir-lhes-has: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos: Assim quebrarei eu a este povo, e a esta cidade, como se quebra o vaso do oleiro, que não póde mais refazer-se, e os enterrarão em Topheth, porque não haverá mais logar para os enterrar.
12 Thus, will I do to this place Declareth Yahweh, And to the inhabitants thereof, —Even making this city like Topheth:
Assim farei a este logar, diz o Senhor, e aos seus moradores; e isso para pôr a esta cidade como a Topheth.
13 Yea, the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall like the place of Topheth, be places defiled, —even all the houses upon whose roofs they burned incense to all the host of the heavens, and poured out drink-offerings to other gods.
E as casas de Jerusalem, e as casas dos reis de Judah, serão immundas como o logar de Topheth: como tambem todas as casas, sobre cujos terraços queimaram incenso a todo o exercito dos céus, e offereceram libações a deuses estranhos.
14 Then entered Jeremiah out of Topheth, whither Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, —and stood in the court of the house of Yahweh, and said unto all the people:
Vindo pois Jeremias de Topheth, onde o tinha enviado o Senhor a prophetizar, se poz em pé no atrio da casa do Senhor, e disse a todo o povo:
15 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, Behold me! brining in against this city, and upon all the cities thereof, The whole calamity which I have pronounced against her, —Because they stiffened their neck, that they might not hear my words.
Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que trarei sobre esta cidade, e sobre todas as suas cidades, todo o mal que fallei contra ella, porquanto endureceram a sua cerviz, para não ouvirem as minhas palavras.
