Jeremiah 19
1 Thus said Yahweh, Go and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, —and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Ύπαγε και απόκτησον λάγηνον πηλίνην κεραμέως, και φέρε τινάς εκ των πρεσβυτέρων του λαού και εκ των πρεσβυτέρων των ιερέων·
2 Then shalt thou go forth into the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the opening of the gate of potsherds; and proclaim there the words which I shall speak unto thee;
και έξελθε εις την φάραγγα του υιού Εννόμ, την πλησίον της εισόδου της ανατολικής πύλης, και διακήρυξον εκεί τους λόγους, τους οποίους θέλω λαλήσει προς σε.
3 and shalt say, —Hear ye the word of Yahweh, O kings of Judah And inhabitants of Jerusalem, —Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—God of Israel Behold me! bringing in calamity upon this place, which shall cause the ears of every one that heareth it, to tingle:
Και ειπέ, Ακούσατε τον λόγον του Κυρίου, βασιλείς Ιούδα και κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ. Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων, ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Ιδού, θέλω φέρει επί τον τόπον τούτον κακά, τα οποία παντός ακούοντος θέλουσιν ηχήσει τα ώτα αυτού.
4 Because they have forsaken me, And have treated this as a foreign place, And have burned incense therein to other gods, which neither they, nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah, have known; And have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
Διότι εγκατέλιπον εμέ και εβεβήλωσαν τον τόπον τούτον και εθυμίασαν εν αυτώ εις άλλους θεούς, τους οποίους δεν εγνώρισαν, αυτοί και οι πατέρες αυτών και οι βασιλείς Ιούδα, και εγέμισαν τον τόπον τούτον από αίματος αθώων.
5 And have built the high places of Baal for burning up their sons in the fire as ascending-sacrifices to Baal, —Which I commanded not, Nor spake, Neither came it up on my heart,
Και ωκοδόμησαν τους υψηλούς τόπους του Βάαλ, διά να καίωσι τους υιούς αυτών εν πυρί, ολοκαυτώματα προς τον Βάαλ· το οποίον δεν προσέταξα ουδέ ελάλησα ουδέ ανέβη επί την καρδίαν μου.
6 Therefore, lo! days coming, Declareth Yahweh, When this place shall be called no longer The Topheth, or The Valley of Ben-hinnom, —but—The Valley of Slaughter;
Διά τούτο, ιδού, έρχονται ημέραι, λέγει Κύριος, και ο τόπος ούτος δεν θέλει καλείσθαι πλέον Τοφέθ ουδέ Φάραγξ του υιού Εννόμ, αλλ' Η φάραγξ της σφαγής.
7 And I will pour out the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, And I will cause them to fall by the sword, before their enemies, and by the hand of them who seek their life, —
Και θέλω ματαιώσει την βουλήν του Ιούδα και της Ιερουσαλήμ εν τω τόπω τούτω· και θέλω κάμει αυτούς να πέσωσι διά μαχαίρας έμπροσθεν των εχθρών αυτών και διά των χειρών των ζητούντων την ζωήν αυτών· τα δε πτώματα αυτών θέλω δώσει βρώσιν εις τα πετεινά του ουρανού και εις τα θηρία της γης.
8 And I will give their dead bodies for food, to the bird of the heavens and to the beast of the earth; And I will make this city a desolation and a hissing, —every one that passeth by it, shall be astonished and hiss over all her wounds;
Και θέλω καταστήσει την πόλιν ταύτην ερήμωσιν και συριγμόν· πας ο διαβαίνων δι' αυτής θέλει μένει έκθαμβος και θέλει συρίξει διά πάσας τας πληγάς αυτής.
9 And I will suffer them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, yea every one—the flesh of his friend, will they eat, —in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith, their enemies, and they who seek their lives, will straiten them.
και θέλω κάμει αυτούς να φάγωσι την σάρκα των υιών αυτών και την σάρκα των θυγατέρων αυτών, και θέλουσι φάγει έκαστος την σάρκα του φίλου αυτού εν τη πολιορκία και στενοχωρία, με την οποίαν οι εχθροί αυτών και οι ζητούντες την ζωήν αυτών θέλουσι στενοχωρήσει αυτούς.
10 Then shalt thou break the bottle, before the eyes of the men who are walking with thee;
Τότε θέλεις συντρίψει την λάγηνον έμπροσθεν των ανδρών των εξελθόντων μετά σού·
11 and shalt say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—Thus and thus, will I break this people, and this city, As one breaketh the vessel of a potter, which cannot be made whole any more, —And in Topheth, shall they bury, for want of place to bury.
και θέλεις ειπεί προς αυτούς, Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων. Ούτω θέλω συντρίψει τον λαόν τούτον και την πόλιν ταύτην, καθώς συντρίβει τις το αγγείον του κεραμέως, το οποίον δεν δύναται να διορθωθή πλέον· και θέλουσι θάπτει αυτούς εν Τοφέθ, εωσού να μη υπάρχη τόπος εις ταφήν.
12 Thus, will I do to this place Declareth Yahweh, And to the inhabitants thereof, —Even making this city like Topheth:
Ούτω θέλω κάμει εις τον τόπον τούτον, λέγει Κύριος, και εις τους κατοίκους αυτού, και θέλω κάμει την πόλιν ταύτην ως την Τοφέθ·
13 Yea, the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall like the place of Topheth, be places defiled, —even all the houses upon whose roofs they burned incense to all the host of the heavens, and poured out drink-offerings to other gods.
και οι οίκοι της Ιερουσαλήμ και οι οίκοι των βασιλέων του Ιούδα θέλουσι μιανθή, καθώς ο τόπος της Τοφέθ· μετά πασών των οικιών, επί των δωμάτων των οποίων εθυμίασαν προς άπασαν την στρατιάν του ουρανού και έκαμαν σπονδάς εις άλλους θεούς.
14 Then entered Jeremiah out of Topheth, whither Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, —and stood in the court of the house of Yahweh, and said unto all the people:
Τότε ήλθεν ο Ιερεμίας εκ της Τοφέθ, όπου ο Κύριος απέστειλεν αυτόν διά να προφητεύση· και σταθείς εν τη αυλή του οίκου του Κυρίου είπε προς πάντα τον λαόν,
15 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, Behold me! brining in against this city, and upon all the cities thereof, The whole calamity which I have pronounced against her, —Because they stiffened their neck, that they might not hear my words.
Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων, ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Ιδού, θέλω φέρει επί την πόλιν ταύτην και επί πάσας τας κώμας αυτής πάντα τα κακά όσα ελάλησα κατ' αυτής· διότι εσκλήρυναν τον τράχηλον αυτών, ώστε να μη ακούσωσι τους λόγους μου.
