Jeremiah 10
1 Hear ye the word which Yahweh hath spoken unto you, O house of Israel: —
ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹമേ, യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന വചനം കേൾക്കുക.
2 Thus, saith Yahweh—Unto the way of the nations, become not ye accustomed, Nor at the signs of the heavens, be ye dismayed, —Because the nations are dismayed at them.
യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഇതര ജനതകളുടെ ജീവിതരീതി അഭ്യസിക്കുകയോ ആകാശത്തിലെ ചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ കണ്ട് അവർ പരിഭ്രമിക്കുമ്പോലെ നിങ്ങൾ പരിഭ്രാന്തരാകുകയോ അരുത്.
3 For as for the prescribed customs of the peoples, vanity, they are, —For a tree out of the forest, one cutteth down, Work for the hands of a skilled workman with the axe:
ജനതകളുടെ ആചാരങ്ങൾ അർഥശൂന്യമാണ്; അവർ കാട്ടിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു മരം വെട്ടുന്നു, ആശാരി തന്റെ ഉളികൊണ്ട് അതിനു രൂപംവരുത്തുന്നു.
4 With silver and with gold, he decketh it, —With nails and with hammers, they fasten them, that it may not totter.
അവർ അതിനെ വെള്ളികൊണ്ടും സ്വർണംകൊണ്ടും അലങ്കരിക്കുന്നു; അത് ആടിയുലയാതെ, ആണിയും ചുറ്റികയുംകൊണ്ട് ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
5 Mere palm-trunks turned, they are and cannot speak, They must needs be, carried, for they cannot take a step, Be not afraid of them, for they cannot do harm, And even to do good, is not in their power.
വെള്ളരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ നോക്കുകുത്തിപോലെ അവ നിൽക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾക്കു സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല; അവയ്ക്കു നടക്കാൻ കഴിവില്ലാത്തതിനാൽ ആരെങ്കിലും അവയെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടുപോകണം. അവയെ ഭയപ്പെടരുത്; അവയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്യാനും അവയ്ക്കു ശക്തിയില്ല.”
6 None, there is, like unto thee, O Yahweh, —Great, art, thou, And, great, is thy Name, for might.
യഹോവേ, അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ ആരുമില്ല; അവിടന്നു വലിയവൻ, അവിടത്തെ നാമം ശക്തിയിൽ പ്രബലമാണ്.
7 Who would not revere thee, O King of nations? For, thee, doth it beseem; Forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations And throughout all their royal estate, None, there is like unto thee.
രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവേ, അങ്ങയെ ആർ ഭയപ്പെടാതിരിക്കും? അത് അങ്ങയുടെ അവകാശമാണല്ലോ. രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങൾക്കിടയിലെ ജ്ഞാനികളായ നേതാക്കന്മാരിലും അവരുടെ എല്ലാ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും, അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ ആരുമില്ല.
8 But at once, do they become brutish and stupid, —An example of utmost vanity, is, a tree!
അവർ എല്ലാവരും ബുദ്ധിഹീനരും ഭോഷരുമത്രേ; തടികൊണ്ടുള്ള നിർജീവമായ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളാണ് അവരെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നത്.
9 Silver spread into plates, from Tarshish is brought, And gold, from Uphaz, Work for the craftsman and for the hands of the smith, —Blue and purple, is their clothing, Work for the skilled, are they all.
തർശീശിൽനിന്ന് അടിച്ചുപരത്തിയ വെള്ളിയും ഊഫാസിൽനിന്നു തങ്കവും കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. ആശാരിയും സ്വർണപ്പണിക്കാരും നിർമിച്ചതിനെ നീലവസ്ത്രവും ഊതവർണവസ്ത്രവും ധരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു— ഇതെല്ലാം വിദഗ്ദ്ധ ശില്പികളുടെ നിർമാണംതന്നെ.
10 But, Yahweh, is God in truth, He, is a God that, liveth, And a King of times age-abiding, —At his anger, quaketh the earth, And nations cannot endure his wrath.
എന്നാൽ യഹോവ സത്യദൈവമാകുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവവും നിത്യരാജാവുംതന്നെ. അവിടത്തെ ക്രോധത്താൽ ഭൂമി വിറകൊള്ളുന്നു; ജനതകൾക്ക് അവിടത്തെ ഉഗ്രകോപം സഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല.
11 Thus, shall ye say unto them, The gods that made not the heavens, And the earth, Shall perish out of the earth, And from under these heavens!
“‘ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും നിർമിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഈ ദേവതകൾ, ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നും ആകാശത്തിൻകീഴിൽനിന്നും നശിച്ചുപോകുമെന്ന്,’ അവരോടു പറയുക.”
12 He that made the earth by his power, That established the world by his wisdom, —And by his understanding stretched out the heavens,
എന്നാൽ ദൈവം തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ ഭൂമിയെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ അവിടന്ന് ലോകത്തെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു തന്റെ വിവേകത്താൽ ആകാശങ്ങളെ വിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
13 At the voice that he uttered, there was a tumult of waters in the heavens, And he caused vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth, —The lightnings for rain, he made, And brought forth wind out of his treasuries.
അവിടന്ന് ഇടിമുഴക്കുമ്പോൾ, ആകാശത്തിലെ ജലശേഖരം ഗർജിക്കുന്നു; അവിടന്നു ഭൂമിയുടെ അതിരുകളിൽനിന്ന് മേഘങ്ങൾ ഉയരുമാറാക്കുന്നു. അവിടന്ന് മഴയ്ക്കൊപ്പം മിന്നൽ അയയ്ക്കുന്നു, തന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽനിന്ന് കാറ്റ് പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നു.
14 Every son of earth hath become too brutish to discern, Every goldsmith, hath been put to shame by a graven image, —For a falsehood, is his molten image, Seeing there is no breath in them.
മനുഷ്യവർഗം മുഴുവനും വിവേകശൂന്യർ, അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇല്ലാത്തവർതന്നെ; ഓരോ സ്വർണപ്പണിക്കാരും തങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾമൂലം ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകുന്നു. അവർ വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ ബിംബം വ്യാജമാണ്; ആ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളിലൊന്നും ശ്വാസമില്ല.
15 Vanity, they are, the handiwork of mockeries, —In the time of their visitation, shall they perish.
അവ മിഥ്യയും അപഹാസപാത്രവുമാണ്; അവരുടെ ന്യായവിധി വരുമ്പോൾ അവ നശിച്ചുപോകും.
16 Not like these, is the portion of Jacob, For the fashioner of all things, is, he, And, Israel, is his inherited sceptre, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.
യാക്കോബിന്റെ അവകാശമായവൻ അവരെപ്പോലെയല്ല, അവിടത്തെ അവകാശജനതയായ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെയുംമാത്രമല്ല, സകലത്തിന്റെയും സ്രഷ്ടാവ് അവിടന്നാണ്— സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ എന്നാകുന്നു അവിടത്തെ നാമം.
17 Fold up, from the ground thy travelling carpet, —O inhabitress of the fortress;
ഉപരോധത്തിൻകീഴിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നവരേ, നാടുവിടുന്നതിനായി നിന്റെ ഭാണ്ഡം മുറുക്കിക്കൊൾക.
18 For, thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this throw, —And I will distress them that they may discover it.
യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ ഈ പ്രാവശ്യം ഈ ദേശവാസികളെ കവിണയിൽവെച്ച് എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും; ഞാൻ അവർക്കു ദുരിതംവരുത്തും അങ്ങനെ അവർ പിടിക്കപ്പെടും.”
19 Woe to me! for my grievous injury, Severe, is my wound, —But, I, said, Verily, this, is an affliction and I must bear it:
എന്റെ മുറിവുനിമിത്തം എനിക്ക് അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! എന്റെ മുറിവു സൗഖ്യംവരാത്തതത്രേ! എന്നിട്ടും ഞാൻ എന്നോടുതന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു, “ഇത് എന്റെ രോഗമാണ്, അതു ഞാൻ സഹിച്ചേ മതിയാകൂ.”
20 My tent, is laid waste, And all my tent-cords, are broken, —My children, are gone forth from me and they, are not. There is none, To stretch out any more my tent, Or to set up my curtains.
എന്റെ കൂടാരം തകർക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ കയറുകളെല്ലാം അറ്റുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ മക്കൾ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു അവരെ ഞാൻ ഇനി കാണുകയുമില്ല; എന്റെ കൂടാരമടിക്കുന്നതിനും എന്റെ തിരശ്ശീല നിവർക്കുന്നതിനും ആരുമില്ല.
21 For the shepherds, have become brutish, And Yahweh, have they not sought, —For this cause, have they not prospered, And, all their flock, is scattered.
ഇടയന്മാർ മൃഗത്തിനു തുല്യരാണ്, അവർ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നില്ല; അതിനാൽ അവർ ഐശ്വര്യം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നില്ല, അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റമെല്ലാം ചിതറിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
22 The noise of a rumour! lo it hath come! Even a great commotion out of the land of the North, —To make the cities of Judah, A desolation, A den of jackals.
ഇതാ, ഒരു വാർത്ത വരുന്നു— വടക്കേദേശത്തുനിന്നുള്ള ഒരു വലിയ കോലാഹലംതന്നെ! അത് യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളെ ശൂന്യവും കുറുനരികൾ വിഹരിക്കുന്ന ഇടവുമാക്കും.
23 I know O Yahweh, That not to a son of earth, pertaineth his own path, —Not, to the man who walketh, also to direct his own steps.
യഹോവേ, മനുഷ്യരുടെ ജീവൻ അവരുടെ സ്വന്തമല്ല; സ്വയം തന്റെ കാലടികളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാൻ അവരാൽ അസാധ്യവും എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.
24 Chastise me, O Yahweh But yet in measure, —Not in thine anger, lest thou make me few.
യഹോവേ, അങ്ങയുടെ ക്രോധത്തിലല്ല, ന്യായമായ അളവിൽമാത്രം എന്നെ ശിക്ഷിക്കണമേ, അല്ലായെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ ശൂന്യമായിത്തീരും.
25 Pour out thy wrath—Upon the nations that know thee not, and Upon the families that, upon thy Name, have not called, —For they have devoured Jacob Yea they have devoured him and consumed him, And, his habitation, have they made desolate.
അങ്ങയുടെ കോപം അങ്ങയെ അറിയാത്ത ജനതകളുടെമേലും അങ്ങയുടെ നാമം വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കാത്ത വംശങ്ങളുടെമേലും ചൊരിയണമേ. കാരണം അവർ യാക്കോബിനെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ അവനെ മുഴുവനായും വിഴുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു, അവന്റെ വാസസ്ഥാനത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
