Isaiah 66

1 Thus, saith Yahweh, The, heavens, are my throne, and The earth, is my footstool: Where then is the house which ye can build me? Or where is my place of rest?

COSÌ ha detto il Signore: Il cielo [è] il mio trono, e la terra [è] lo scannello de' miei piedi; dove [è] la Casa che voi mi edifichereste? e dove [è] il luogo del mio riposo?

2 For, all these things, hath mine own hand made, And all these things came into being, —Declareth Yahweh. But for this one, will I look around, For him who is humbled and smitten in spirit, And so careth anxiously for my word.

E la mia mano ha fatte tutte queste cose, onde tutte sono state [prodotte], dice il Signore; a chi dunque riguarderò io? all'afflitto, ed al contrito di spirito, ed a colui che trema alla mia parola.

3 He that slaughtereth an ox, [is as one] who smiteth a man, He that sacrificeth a lamb, [is as one] who beheadeth a dog, he that causeth a meal-offering to ascend, offereth it with the blood of swine, He that maketh a memorial of frankincense, [is as one] who blesseth iniquity: They indeed, have chosen their own ways, And in their own abominations, their soul hath found delight;

Chi scanna un bue [mi è come se] uccidesse un uomo; chi sacrifica una pecora [mi è come se] tagliasse il collo ad un cane; chi offerisce offerta [mi è come se offerisse] sangue di porco; chi fa profumo d'incenso per ricordanza [mi è come se] benedicesse un idolo. Come essi hanno scelte le lor vie, e l'anima loro ha preso diletto nelle loro abbominazioni,

4 I, also, will choose the things that vex them. And the things they dread, will I bring upon them, Because—I called and there was none to answer, I spake, and they hearkened not, —But did that which was wicked in mine eyes, And of that wherein I delighted not, made choice.

io altresì sceglierò i lor modi di fare, e farò venir sopra loro le cose ch'essi temono; perciocchè, io ho gridato, e non [vi è stato] alcuno che rispondesse; io ho parlato, ed essi non hanno ascoltato; anzi hanno fatto quello che mi dispiace, ed hanno scelto ciò che non mi aggrada.

5 Hear the word of Yahweh, ye who care anxiously for his word: Said your brethren Who hated you. Who thrust you out for my Name’s sake, Yahweh be glorified! Therefore shall he appear to your rejoicing, But, they, shall turn pale.

Ascoltate la parola del Signore, voi che tremate alla sua parola. I vostri fratelli che vi odiano, e vi scacciano per cagion del mio Nome, hanno detto: Apparisca pur glorioso il Signore. Certo egli apparirà in vostra letizia, ed essi saran confusi.

6 The sound of a tumult—out of the city, A sound, out of the temple, —The sound of Yahweh rendering recompense to his foes.

[Vi è] un suono di strepito [ch'esce] della città, un romore [che esce] del tempio; [ch'è] la voce del Signore, che rende la retribuzione a' suoi nemici.

7 Before she travaileth, she hath brought forth, —Before her pains come to her, she hath given birth to a man-child!

Quella ha partorito innanzi che sentisse le doglie del parto; innanzi che le venissero i dolori, si è sgravidata di un figliuol maschio.

8 Who hath heard the like of this? Who hath seen the like of these things? Can a land, be made to bring forth in one day? Or a nation, be born, at one time? As soon as she travaileth, Zion hath also given birth to her children.

Chi udì mai una cotal cosa? chi vide mai cose simili? potrebbe un paese esser partorito in un giorno? o potrebbe una nazione nascere ad una volta, che Sion abbia sentite le doglie del parto, ed abbia partoriti i suoi figliuoli, come prima ha sentiti i dolori del parto?

9 Could, I, bring to the birth and not cause to bring forth? saith Yahweh. Or, I, be causing to bring forth and then prevent? Saith thy God.

Io, che fo partorire, non potrei io generare? dice il Signore; io, che fo generare, sarei io sterile? dice l'Iddio tuo.

10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and exult over her All ye who love her, —Joy with her right joyfully, All ye who used to mourn over her:

Rallegratevi con Gerusalemme, e festeggiate in essa, [voi] tutti che l'amate; gioite con lei d'una [gran] gioia, [voi] tutti che facevate cordoglio di lei.

11 That ye may draw to satisfaction out of the fountain of her consolations, —That ye may drain out and get exquisite delight from the abundance of her glory.

Acciocchè poppaite, e siate saziati della mammella della sue consolazioni; acciocchè mungiate, e godiate dello splendor della sua gloria.

12 For, thus, saith Yahweh, —Behold me! extending unto her like a river, prosperity, And as a torrent o’erflowing, the glory of the nations. That ye may draw it forth—Upon the side, shall ye be carried, and Upon the knees, shall ye be caressed:

Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, io rivolgo verso lei la pace, a guisa di fiume; e la gloria delle genti, a guisa di torrente traboccato; e voi [la] succerete, [e] sarete portati sopra i fianchi, e sarete sollazzati sopra le ginocchia.

13 As one whom, his mother, consoleth, So, will, I, console you, And in Jerusalem, shall ye be consoled.

Io vi consolerò, a guisa di un fanciullo che sua madre consola; e voi sarete consolati in Gerusalemme.

14 As soon as ye have seen it, your heart, shall be joyful, And your bones, like green herbage, shall thrive, —So shall be known The hand of Yahweh with his servants, But indignation with his foes!

E voi vedrete, e il vostro cuore si rallegrerà, e le vostre ossa germoglieranno come erba; e la mano del Signore verso i suoi servitori sarà conosciuta; ma egli si adirerà contro a' suoi nemici.

15 For lo! Yahweh, with fire, doth come, And like a storm-wind, [are] his chariots, —To render with fury, his anger, And his rebuke with flames of fire.

Perciocchè, ecco, il Signore verrà con fuoco, ed i suoi carri [verranno] a guisa di turbo; per rendere l'ira sua con indegnazione e la sua minaccia con fiamme di fuoco.

16 For, by fire, will Yahweh enter into judgment, And by his sword, with all flesh, —And many shall be the slain of Yahweh.

Perciocchè il Signore farà giudicio con fuoco, e con la sua spada, sopra ogni carne; e gli uccisi dal Signore saranno in gran numero.

17 They who hallow themselves and purify themselves for the gardens, Behind a certain thing in the midst, Who eat the flesh of swine and the abomination, and the mouse, Together, shall be cut off—Declareth Yahweh.

Quelli che si santificano, e si purificano ne' giardini, dietro ad Ahad, nel mezzo; che mangiano carne di porco, e cose abbominevoli, e topi, saran consumati tutti quanti, dice il Signore.

18 Because, I, …for their works and their devices, doth it come! …Am about to gather together all nations and tongues, —So shall they come and see my glory.

Ora, quant'è a me, [essendo tali] le loro opere, e i lor pensieri, [il tempo] viene che io raccoglierò tutte le genti, e lingue; ed esse verranno, e vedranno la mia gloria.

19 Then will I set among them, a sign, And will send, of them such as have escaped unto the nations—Tarshish Pul and Lud that draw the bow, Tubal and Javan, —The Coastlands that are afar off, Who have not heard my fame Nor seen my glory, And they shall tell my glory throughout the nations.

E metterò in coloro un segnale, e manderò quelli d'infra loro, che saranno scampati, alle genti, in Tarsis, in Pul, ed in Lud, dove tirano dell'arco; in Tubal, ed in Iavan, ed [al]le isole lontane, che non hanno udita la mia fama, e non hanno veduta la mia gloria; e quelli annunzieranno la mia gloria fra le genti.

20 Then shall they bring in all your brethren out of all the nations, As a present unto Yahweh, Upon horses and in chariots and in palanquins and on mules and on dromedaries Unto my holy mountain—Jerusalem, saith Yahweh, —Just as the sons of Israel, bring in their present in a pure vessel, into the house, of Yahweh.

E addurranno tutti i vostri fratelli, d'infra tutte le genti, [per] offerta al Signore, sopra cavalli, in carri, in lettighe, sopra muli, e sopra dromedari, al monte della mia santità, in Gerusalemme, ha detto il Signore; siccome i figliuoli d'Israele portano l'offerta in un vaso netto alla Casa del Signore.

21 And of them also, will I take for priests—for Levites, saith Yahweh,

Ed anche ne prenderò d'infra loro per sacerdoti, [e] Leviti, ha detto il Signore.

22 For, as the new heavens and the new earth, which I am about to make, are to remain before me, Declareth Yahweh, So, shall remain your seed and your name.

Perciocchè, siccome i nuovi cieli a la nuova terra che io farò, saranno stabili nel mio cospetto, dice il Signore; così ancora sarà stabile la vostra progenie, ed il vostro nome.

23 And it shall come to pass, that From one new moon to another, and From one sabbath to another, Shall all flesh, come in, to bow down before me, Saith Yahweh.

Ed avverrà, che da calendi a calendi, e da sabato a sabato, ogni carne verrà, per adorar nel mio cospetto, ha detto il Signore.

24 Then shall they go forth and look upon the dead bodies of the men who had been trespassing against me—For, their worm, shall not die, And, their fire, shall not be quenched; So shall they become an abhorrence to all flesh.

Ed usciranno, e vedranno i corpi morti degli uomini che saran proceduti dislealmente meco; perciocchè il verme loro non morrà, ed il fuoco loro non sarà spento; e saranno in abbominio ad ogni carne.
