Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye—comfort ye my people, —Saith your God.
૧તમારા ઈશ્વર કહે છે, “દિલાસો આપો, મારા લોકોને દિલાસો આપો.”
2 Speak ye unto the heart of Jerusalem, And cry unto her, —That accomplished is her warfare, That accepted is her punishment, —That she hath received, at the hand of Yahweh, According to the full measure of all her sins.
૨યરુશાલેમ સાથે હેતથી વાત કરો; અને તેને જણાવો કે તેની લડાઈ પૂરી થઈ છે, તેના અપરાધને માફ કરવામાં આવ્યો છે, તેને યહોવાહને હાથે તેના સર્વ પાપોને લીધે બમણી શિક્ષા થઈ છે.
3 A voice of one crying!—In the desert, prepare ye the way of Yahweh, —Make smooth in the waste plain a highway for our God:
૩સાંભળો કોઈ એવું પોકારે છે, “અરણ્યમાં યહોવાહનો માર્ગ તૈયાર કરો; જંગલમાં આપણા ઈશ્વરને માટે સડક સુગમ કરો.”
4 Let, every valley, be exalted, And every mountain and hill, be made low, —And, the steep ground become, level, And, the chain of hills—a plain:
૪સર્વ ખીણને ઊંચી કરવામાં આવશે અને સર્વ પર્વતો અને ડુંગરોને સપાટ કરવામાં આવશે; ખરબચડી જગાઓ સરખી અને ખાડા ટેકરાને સપાટ મેદાન કરવામાં આવશે.
5 Then shall be revealed the glory of Yahweh, —And all flesh shall see it together, For, the mouth of Yahweh, hath spoken!
૫યહોવાહનું ગૌરવ પ્રગટ થશે અને સર્વ માણસો તે જોશે; કેમ કે એ યહોવાહના મુખનું વચન છે.
6 A voice saying Cry! And one said—What should I cry? All flesh, is grass, And, all the grace thereof, like the flower of the field:
૬“પોકાર” એવું એક વાણી કહે છે, મેં પૂછ્યું, “શાને માટે પોકારું?” સર્વ મનુષ્ય ઘાસ જ છે અને તેઓના કરારનું વિશ્વાસુપણું એ ખેતરના ફૂલ જેવું છે.
7 The grass hath withered The flower hath faded, Because, the breath of Yahweh, hath blown upon it! Surely the people is grass!
૭ઘાસ સુકાઈ જાય છે અને ફૂલ ચીમળાઈ જાય છે જ્યારે યહોવાહના શ્વાસનો વાયુ તે પર વાય છે; મનુષ્ય નિશ્ચે ઘાસ જ છે.
8 The grass, hath withered, The flower, hath faded, —But the word of our God, shall stand unto times age-abiding!
૮ઘાસ સુકાઈ જાય છે, ફૂલ ચીમળાઈ જાય છે, પણ આપણા ઈશ્વરનું વચન સર્વકાળ કાયમ રહેશે.”
9 To a high mountain, get ye up, O herald—band of Zion, Lift high with strength your voice, O herald—band of Jerusalem, —Lift it high, do not fear, Say to the cities of Judah—Lo! your God!
૯હે સિયોન, વધામણીના સમાચાર કહેનારી, તું ઊંચા પર્વત પર ચઢી જા; મોટા અવાજે સામર્થ્યથી પોકાર; યરુશાલેમને વધામણીના સમાચાર આપ. ઊંચા અવાજે પોકાર, બીશ નહિ. યહૂદિયાના નગરોને કહે, “તમારો ઈશ્વર આ છે!”
10 Lo! My Lord, Yahweh, as a mighty one, doth come, And, his own arm, is about to rule for him, —Lo! his reward, is with him, And, his recompense, before him;
૧૦જુઓ, પ્રભુ યહોવાહ જય પામનાર વીરની જેમ આવશે અને તેમનો ભુજ તેઓને માટે અધિકાર ચલાવશે. જુઓ, તેઓનું ઈનામ તેઓની સાથે અને તેઓનું પ્રતિફળ તેઓની આગળ જાય છે.
11 Like a shepherd, his flock, will he tend, In his own arm, will he take up the lambs, And in his own bosom, will he carry [them], —Them which are with young, will he lead to a place of rest.
૧૧ભરવાડની જેમ તે પોતાના ટોળાંનું પાલન કરશે, તે પોતાના હાથમાં હલવાનોને એકઠા કરશે અને પોતાની ગોદમાં ઊંચકી લેશે અને સ્તનપાન કરાવનારી સ્ત્રીઓને તે સંભાળીને ચલાવશે.
12 Who hath measured, with the hollow of his hand, the waters. Or the heavens with a span, hath meted out, Or hath comprehended, in a measure, the dust of the earth, Or weighed, in scales, the mountains, Or the hills, in a balance?
૧૨કોણે પોતાના ખોબાથી સમુદ્રનાં પાણી માપ્યાં છે, વેંતથી આકાશ કોણે માપ્યું છે, કોણે ટોપલીમાં પૃથ્વીની ધૂળને સમાવી છે, કાંટાથી પર્વતોને તથા ત્રાજવાથી પહાડોને કોણે જોખ્યા છે?
13 Who hath proved the spirit of Yahweh? Or being his counsellor hath been giving him knowledge?
૧૩કોણે યહોવાહનો આત્મા માપી આપ્યો છે, અથવા તેઓના મંત્રી થઈને તેમને કોણે સલાહ આપી છે?
14 With whom hath he taken counsel—And he hath given him intelligence, And instructed him in the path of justice, —And taught him knowledge, And in the way of intelligence, hath been giving him understanding?
૧૪તેઓને કોની પાસેથી સલાહ મળી શકે? કોણે તેઓને ન્યાયના માર્ગનું શિક્ષણ આપીને તેમને ડહાપણ શીખવ્યું? અને કોણ તેઓને બુદ્ધિ અને સમજણનો માર્ગ જણાવી શકે?
15 Lo! nations, Are us a drop on a bucket, And as fine dust on a balance, are accounted, —Lo! islands, like an atom, can he hoist;
૧૫જુઓ, પ્રજાઓ ડોલમાંથી ટપકતાં ટીપાં જેવી અને ત્રાજવાંને ચોંટેલી રજ સમાન ગણાયેલી છે; જુઓ, દ્વીપો ઊડી જતી ધૂળ જેવા છે.
16 And, Lebanon, is not sufficient to burn, —Nor, the beasts thereof sufficient for an ascending-sacrifice!
૧૬લબાનોન બળતણ પૂરું પાડી શકતું નથી, કે તે પરનાં પશુઓ દહનીયાર્પણને માટે પૂરતાં નથી.
17 All nations, are as nothing before him, —A thing of nought or a waste, are they accounted unto him?
૧૭સર્વ પ્રજાઓ તેમની આગળ કંઈ વિસાતમાં નથી; તેમણે તેઓને નહિ જેવી ગણી છે.
18 Unto whom then can ye liken GOD? Or, what likeness, can ye compare unto him?
૧૮તો તમે ઈશ્વરને કોની સાથે સરખાવશો? કેવી પ્રતિમા સાથે તેમનો મુકાબલો કરશો?
19 The image, hath been cast by an artificer, And a goldsmith, with gold, overlayeth it, —And, chains of silver, he worketh.
૧૯મૂર્તિને તો કારીગર ઢાળે છે: સોની તેને સોનાથી મઢે છે અને તેને માટે રૂપાની સાંકળીઓ ઘડે છે.
20 The needy offerer, of a tree that will not rot, maketh choice, —A skilled artificer, seeketh he out for himself to construct an image that shall not totter,
૨૦જે માણસ દરિદ્રી થઈ જવાથી અર્પણ કરવાને અસમર્થ થઈ ગયો હોય, તે સડી નહિ જાય એવું લાકડું પસંદ કરે છે, તે કુશળ કારીગરને શોધે છે કે જે હાલે નહિ કે પડી ન જાય એવી મૂર્તિ સ્થાપન કરે.
21 Have ye never taken note? Have ye never heard? Hath it not from the beginning, been told you? Have ye not been led to discern, from the foundations of the earth?
૨૧શું તમે નથી જાણતા? તમે નથી સાંભળ્યું? આરંભથી તમને ખબર મળી નથી? પૃથ્વીનો પાયો નંખાયો ત્યારથી તમે સમજતા નથી?
22 It is he who sitteth upon the circle of the earth, While the inhabitants thereof are, as grass-hoppers, —Who stretcheth forth, as a curtain, the heavens, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
૨૨પ્રભુ તો પૃથ્વી ઉપરના આકાશમંડળ પર બિરાજનાર છે અને એમની નજરમાં તેના રહેવાસીઓ તીડ સમાન છે! તે પડદાની જેમ આકાશોને પ્રસારે છે અને રહેવા માટેના તંબુની જેમ તેઓને તાણે છે.
23 Who delivereth dignitaries to nothingness, —Judges of earth, like a desolation, hath he made:
૨૩અધિપતિઓને નહિ સરખા કરનાર તે છે અને તે પૃથ્વીના રાજકર્તાઓને શૂન્ય જેવા કરે છે.
24 Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely hath their stock, begun to take root in the earth, When he hath just blown upon them and they have withered, And, a whirlwind, as though they had been chaff, carrieth them away.
૨૪જુઓ, તેઓ રોપાયા ન રોપાયા કે, તેઓ વવાયા ન વવાયા, તેઓના મૂળ જમીનમાં જડાયાં કે, તરત જ તેઓ પર તે ફૂંક મારે છે અને તેઓ સુકાઈ જાય છે અને વાયુ તેમને ફોતરાંની જેમ ઉડાવી દે છે.
25 Unto whom then, can ye liken me, or can I be equal? Saith the Holy One.
૨૫વળી, પવિત્ર ઈશ્વર પૂછે છે, “તમે મને કોની સાથે સરખાવશો કે હું તેના જેવો ગણાઉં?”
26 Lift on high your eyes—and see who hath created these, That bringeth forth, by number, their host, —To all of them by name, doth call, Because of the abundance of vigour and alertness of strength, not one, is missing!
૨૬તમારી દૃષ્ટિ આકાશ તરફ ઊંચી કરો! આકાશના આ સર્વ તારા કોણે ઉત્પન્ન કર્યા છે? તે મહા સમર્થ અને બળવાન હોવાથી પોતાના પરાક્રમના માહાત્મ્યથી તેઓને સંખ્યાબંધ બહાર કાઢી લાવે છે અને તે સર્વને નામ લઈને બોલાવે છે, એકે રહી જતો નથી.
27 Wherefore, shouldest thou say, O Jacob, or speak, O Israel, —Hidden is my path from Yahweh, And from my God, my vindication, will pass?
૨૭યાકૂબ, શા માટે કહે છે, અને ઇઝરાયલ, તું શા માટે બોલે છે કે, “મારો માર્ગ યહોવાહથી સંતાડેલો છે અને મારો ન્યાય મારા ઈશ્વરના લક્ષમાં નથી?”
28 Hast thou not known, Hast thou not heard, That The God of age-past time—Yahweh The Creator of the ends of the earth Fainteth not neither groweth weary—There is no searching of his understanding:
૨૮તે શું નથી જાણ્યું? તે શું નથી સાંભળ્યું? યહોવાહ તે સનાતન ઈશ્વર છે, પૃથ્વીના છેડા સુધી ઉત્પન્ન કરનાર તે છે, તે કદી નિર્બળ થતા નથી કે થાકતા નથી; તેમની સમજણની કોઈ સીમા નથી.
29 Giving to him that fainteth, strength, And to him that hath no vigour, he causeth, power to abound?
૨૯થાકેલાને તે બળ આપે છે તથા નિર્બળ થયેલાંને પુષ્કળ જોર આપે છે.
30 Youths both faint and grow weary, And, young warriors—they fall, they fall;
૩૦છોકરા તો નિર્બળ થશે અને થાકી જશે અને જુવાનો ઠોકર ખાશે અને પડશે:
31 But, they who wait for Yahweh, shall renew their strength, They shall mount on strong pinion like eagles, —They shall run and not grow weary, They shall walk and not faint.
૩૧પણ યહોવાહની રાહ જોનાર નવું સામર્થ્ય પામશે; તેઓ ગરુડની જેમ પાંખો પ્રસારશે; તેઓ દોડશે અને થાકશે નહિ, તેઓ આગળ ચાલશે અને નિર્બળ થશે નહિ.
