Hebrews 1
1 Whereas, in many parts and in many ways of old, God spake unto the fathers, in the prophets,
Nadat God eertijds vele malen en op velerlei wijzen tot de Vaders gesproken heeft door de Profeten,
2 At the end of these days, He hath spoken unto us in his Son, —whom he hath appointed heir of all things, through whom also he hath made the ages; (aiōn g165)
heeft Hij aan het einde dezer dagen tot ons gesproken door den Zoon, dien Hij gesteld heeft tot erfgenaam van al zijn bezit en door wien Hij de wereld gemaakt heeft. (aiōn g165)
3 Who, being an eradiated brightness of his glory, and an exact representation of his very being, also bearing up all things by the utterance of his power, purification of sins, having achieved, sat down on the right hand of the majesty in high places:
Deze is de afstraling zijner Glorie en de afdruk van zijn Wezen, en Hij draagt het heelal door het woord zijner Macht; Hij heeft de reiniging van zonden bewerkt, en toen Zich neergezet aan de rechterhand der Majesteit in den hoge.
4 By so much becoming superior to the messengers, by as much as, going beyond them, he hath inherited a more distinguished name.
Even hoog staat Hij boven de engelen, als de Naam, die Hij ontving, voortreffelijker is dan de hunne.
5 For unto which of the messengers said he at any time—My Son, art, thou, I, this day have begotten thee? and again—I, will become, his father, and, he, shall become my Son?
Want tot wien der engelen heeft Hij ooit gezegd: "Gij zijt mijn Zoon, Ik heb U heden verwekt." Of wederom: "Ik zal Hem tot Vader zijn, En Hij zal Mij wezen tot Zoon."
6 But, whensoever he again introduceth the first-begotten into the habitable earth, he saith—And let all God’s messengers worship him!
En wanneer Hij den Eerstgeborene de wereld binnenleidt, zegt Hij opnieuw: "Alle engelen Gods moeten Hem aanbidden."
7 Even as to the messengers, indeed, he saith—Who maketh his messengers, winds, and his ministers of state, a fiery flame;
En van de engelen zegt Hij: "Die zijn engelen geesten maakt, En zijn knechten vlammend vuur."
8 but, as to the Son, —Thy throne, O God, is unto times age-abiding, and—A sceptre of equity, is the sceptre of his kingdom, (aiōn g165)
Maar van den Zoon: Uw troon, o God, is in de eeuwen der eeuwen, En uw koningschepter is de schepter van het recht. (aiōn g165)
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated lawlessness, —For this cause, hath God, thy God, anointed thee with the oil of exultation, beyond thy partners;
Gij hebt gerechtigheid bemind, En ongerechtigheid gehaat. Daarom, o God, heeft uw God U gezalfd, Met vreugde-olie boven uw genoten.
10 and—Thou, by way of beginning, Lord, the earth, didst found, and, the works of thy hands, are the heavens, —
En: Heer, in den beginne hebt Gij de aarde gegrond, En de hemelen zijn de werken uwer handen.
11 They, shall perish, but, thou, abidest still, and, all, as a mantle, shall be worn out,
Zij zullen vergaan, maar Gij blijft! Als een kleed zullen ze allen verslijten.
12 And, as if a robe, wilt thou fold them up, —as a mantle, and they shall be changed; but, thou, art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Als een mantel rolt Gij ze op, En als een kleed zullen ze worden verwisseld. Maar Gij blijft dezelfde, En uw jaren nemen geen einde.
13 But, to which of the messengers, hath he said, at any time—Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool?
En tot wien der engelen sprak Hij ooit: "Zet U aan mijn rechterhand, Totdat Ik uw vijanden leg als een voetbank voor uw voeten."
14 Are they not, all, spirits, doing public service, —for ministry, sent forth, for the sake of them who are about to inherit salvation?
Zijn ze niet allen dienstbare geesten, uitgezonden tot hulp van hen, die de zaligheid zullen beërven?
