< Genesis 5 >

1 This, is the record of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, In the likeness of God, made he him:
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created humankind, he made him in God's likeness.
2 Male and female, created he them, —and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day they were created.
He created them male and female, and blessed them, and called their name "humankind" on the day when they were created.
3 And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son] in his likeness after his image, —and called his name Seth:
Adam lived two hundred and thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
4 and the days of Adam, after he begat Seth, were eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters.
The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were seven hundred years, and he became the father of sons and daughters.
5 So all the days of Adam which he lived, were nine hundred and thirty years, —and he died.
All the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, then he died.
6 And Seth lived a hundred and five years, —and begat Enosh:
Seth lived two hundred and five years, and became the father of Enosh.
7 and Seth lived, after he begat Enosh, eight hundred and seven years, —and begat sons and daughters:
Seth lived after he became the father of Enosh seven hundred and seven years, and fathered sons and daughters.
8 and all the days of Seth were, nine hundred and I twelve years, —and he died.
All the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, then he died.
9 And Enosh lived ninety years, —and begat Kenan;
Enosh lived one hundred and ninety years, and became the father of Kenan.
10 and Enosh lived after he begat Kenan, eight hundred and fifteen years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Enosh lived after he became the father of Kenan, seven hundred and fifteen years, and fathered sons and daughters.
11 and all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, —and he died.
All the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, then he died.
12 And Kenan, lived seventy years, —and begat Mahalalel;
Kenan lived one hundred and seventy years, and became the father of Mahalalel.
13 and Kenan lived after he begat Mahalalel, eight hundred and forty years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Kenan lived after he became the father of Mahalalel seven hundred and forty years, and fathered sons and daughters
14 and all the days of Kenan were, nine hundred and ten years, —and he died.

15 And Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, —and begat Jared;
Mahalalel lived one hundred and sixty-five years, and became the father of Jared.
16 and Mahalalel lived after he begat Jared, eight hundred and thirty years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Mahalalel lived after he became the father of Jared seven hundred and thirty years, and fathered sons and daughters.
17 and all the days of Mahalalel were, eight hundred and ninety-five years, —and he died.

18 And Jared lived, a hundred and sixty-two years, and begat Enoch;
Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch.
19 and Jared lived after he begat Enoch, eight hundred years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Jared lived after he became the father of Enoch eight hundred years, and fathered sons and daughters.
20 and all the days of Jared were, nine hundred and sixty-two years, —and he died.
All the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, then he died.
21 And Enoch lived sixty-five years, —and begat Methuselah;
Enoch lived one hundred and sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah.
22 and Enoch walked with God, after he begat Methuselah, three hundred years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Enoch walked with God after he became the father of Methuselah two hundred years, and fathered sons and daughters.
23 and all the days of Enoch were, three hundred and sixty-five years;

24 and Enoch walked with God, —and was not for God had taken him.
Enoch walked with God, and then he was not there, for God took him.
25 And Methuselah lived, a hundred and eighty-seven years, —and begat Lamech;
Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech.
26 and Methuselah lived, after he begat Lamech, seven hundred and eighty-two years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Methuselah lived after he became the father of Lamech seven hundred and eighty-two years, and fathered sons and daughters.
27 and all the days of Methuselah were, nine hundred and sixty-nine years, —and he died.
All the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, then he died.
28 And Lamech lived, a hundred and eighty-two years, —and begat a son;
Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and became the father of a son,
29 and he called his name Noah saying, —This, one shall give us rest from our work, And from the grievous toil of our hands, By reason of the ground which Yahweh hath cursed,
and he named him Noah, saying, "This one will comfort us in our labor and in the hard work of our hands, because of the ground which God has cursed."
30 And Lamech lived, after he begat Noah, five hundred and ninety-five years, —and begat sons and daughters;
Lamech lived after he became the father of Noah five hundred and ninety-five years, and fathered sons and daughters.
31 and all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, —and he died.
All the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, then he died.
32 And Noah was five hundred years old, —and Noah begat Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
