Genesis 23
1 And the life of Sarah came to be, a hundred and twenty-seven years, —the years of the life of Sarah.
Sa-ra hưởng thọ được một trăm hai mươi bảy tuổi. Aáy là bao nhiêu năm của đời Sa-ra.
2 And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron in the land of Canaan, —and Abraham went in to wail for Sarah and to weep for her.
Sa-ra qua đời tại Ki-ri-át-A-ra-ba, tức là Hếp-rôn, thuộc về xứ Ca-na-an. Aùp-ra-ham đến chịu tang cho Sa-ra và than khóc người.
3 And Abraham rose up from over the face of his dead, —and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying;
Đoạn, Aùp-ra-ham đứng dậy trước người chết mình và nói cùng dân họ Hếch rằng:
4 A sojourner and settler, am I with you, —Give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, That I may bury my dead, from before me.
Ta là một khách kiều ngụ trong vòng các ngươi; xin hãy cho một nơi mộ địa trong xứ các ngươi, để chôn người thác của ta.
5 And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him:
Dân họ Hếch đáp rằng:
6 Hear us, my lord! A prince of God, art thou in our midst, In the choice of our buryingplaces, bury thy dead, —Not, a man from among us his, burying-place, will withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.
Lạy Chúa, xin hãy nghe chúng tôi: giữa chúng tôi, chúa tức là một quân trưởng của Đức Chúa Trời; hãy chôn người chết của chúa nơi mộ địa nào tốt hơn hết của chúng tôi. Trong bọn chúng tôi chẳng có ai tiếc mộ địa mình, đặng chôn người chết của chúa đâu.
7 And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself down to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth;
Aùp-ra-ham bèn đứng dậy, sấp mình xuống trước mặt các dân của xứ, tức dân họ Hếch,
8 and spake with them, saying, —If it is with the consent of your minds that I should bury my dead from before me, hear me, and intercede for me, with Ephron son of Zohar:
mà nói rằng: Nếu các ngươi bằng lòng cho chôn người chết ta, thì hãy nghe lời, và cầu xin Eùp-rôn, con của Xô-ha giùm ta,
9 That he would give me, the cave of Machpelah, which pertaineth unto him, which is within the bounds of his field, —For full silver, let him give it me in your midst, For a possession of a buryingplace.
đặng người nhượng cho ta hang đá Mặc-bê-la, ở về tận đầu đồng người, để lại cho đúng giá, hầu cho ta được trong vòng các ngươi một nơi mộ địa.
10 Now, Ephron, was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, —so Ephron the Hittite responded to Abraham, in the ears of the sons of Heth, even all that were entering the gate of his city, saying:
Vả, Eùp-rôn, người Hê-tít, đang ngồi trong bọn dân họ Hếch, đáp lại cùng Aùp-ra-ham trước mặt dân họ Hếch vẫn nghe và trước mặt mọi người đến nơi cửa thành, mà rằng:
11 Nay, my lord, hear me, The field, have I given to thee And, the cave that is therein, to thee, have I given it, —In the eyes of the sons of my people, have I given it thee Bury thy dead.
Không, thưa chúa, hãy nghe lời tôi: Hiện trước mặt dân tôi, tôi xin dâng cho chúa cánh đồng, và cũng dâng luôn cái hang đá ở trong đó nữa; hãy chôn người chết của chúa đi.
12 So Abraham boweth himself down, before the people of the land:
Aùp-ra-ham sấp mình xuống trước mặt dân của xứ,
13 and spake unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land saying, Only if, thou, wouldst, hear me, —I have given the silver of the field Take it of me, That I may bury my dead here.
và nói lại cùng Eùp-rôn hiện trước mặt dân của xứ đang nghe, mà rằng: Xin hãy nghe, ta trả giá tiền cái đồng, hãy nhận lấy đi, thì ta mới chôn người chết ta,
14 And Ephron responded to Abraham, saying to him,
Eùp-rôn đáp rằng:
15 My lord, hear me, —Land worth four hundred shekels of silver—betwixt me and thee, what is that? And thy dead., bury thou.
Thưa Chúa, hãy nghe lời tôi: một miếng đất giá đáng bốn trăm siếc-lơ bạc, mà tôi cùng chúa, thì có giá chi đâu? Xin hãy chôn người chết của chúa đi.
16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron, and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver of which he had spoken in the ears of the sons of Heth, —four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant,
Aùp-ra-ham nghe theo lời Eùp-rôn, trước mặt dân họ Hếch cân bốn trăm siếc-lơ bạc cho người, là bạc thông dụng nơi các tay buôn bán.
17 So was confirmed the field of Ephron, which is in Machpelah, which is before Mamre, —the field and the cave which is therein, and all the timber which was in the field, which was in all the boundary thereof round about,
Vậy, cái đồng của Eùp-rôn, tại Mặc-bê-la, nằm ngang Mam-rê, nghĩa là cái đồng ruộng hang đá, các cây cối ở trong và chung quanh theo giới hạn đồng,
18 to Abraham as a purchase in the eyes of the sons of Heth, —with all who were entering the gate of his city.
đều trước mặt có các dân họ Hếch cùng mọi người đến cửa thành, nhận chắc cho Aùp-ra-ham làm sản nghiệp.
19 And after this, did Abraham bury Sarah his wife, within the cave of the field of Machpelah, over against Mamre, the same, is Hebron, —in the land of Canaan.
Sau các việc đó, Aùp-ra-ham chôn Sa-ra, vợ mình, trong hang đá của đồng Mặc-bê-la, nằm ngang Nam-rê tại Hếp-rôn, thuộc về xứ Ca-na-an.
20 So was confirmed the field with the cave which was therein to Abraham, for a possession of a buryingplace, —from the sons of Heth.
Đồng và hang đá đều có các người họ Hếch nhận chắc, để lại cho Aùp-ra-ham dùng làm mộ địa.
