Genesis 21
1 Now, Yahweh, visited Sarah, as he had said, —And Yahweh did for Sarah as he had spoken.
Και επεσκέφθη ο Κύριος την Σάρραν, ως είπε· και έκαμεν ο Κύριος εις την Σάρραν, ως ελάλησε.
2 So, Sarah, conceived and bare, to Abraham, a son, for his old age, at the set time, of which God had spoken with him.
Και συνέλαβεν η Σάρρα, και εγέννησεν εις τον Αβραάμ υιόν εν τω γήρατι αυτού· κατά τον καιρόν, τον οποίον είπε προς αυτόν ο Θεός.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom, Sarah, bare to him, Isaac.
Και εκάλεσεν ο Αβραάμ το όνομα του υιού αυτού, του γεννηθέντος εις αυτόν, τον οποίον η Σάρρα εγέννησεν εις αυτόν, Ισαάκ.
4 And Abraham circumcised Isaac his son, when eight days old, —as God commanded him.
Περιέτεμε δε ο Αβραάμ τον υιόν αυτού Ισαάκ την ογδόην ημέραν, ως προσέταξεν εις αυτόν ο Θεός.
5 Now Abraham was a hundred years old, —when Isaac his son was born to him.
Ήτο δε ο Αβραάμ εκατόν ετών, ότε εγεννήθη εις αυτόν Ισαάκ ο υιός αυτού.
6 And Sarah said, A laughing, hath God made for me, —Everyone that heareth will laugh with me.
Και είπεν η Σάρρα, Ο Θεός με έκαμε να γελώ· όστις ακούση, θέλει γελά μετ' εμού.
7 And she said—Who would have announced to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled children? yet have I borne a son, for his old age!
Και είπε, Τις ήθελεν ειπεί προς τον Αβραάμ, ότι ήθελε θηλάσει τέκνα η Σάρρα; επειδή εγέννησα υιόν εν τω γήρατι αυτού.
8 And the child grew, and was weaned, —and Abraham made a great banquet, on the day of the weaning of Isaac.
Το δε παιδίον ηύξησε και απεγαλακτίσθη· και έκαμεν ο Αβραάμ μέγα συμπόσιον, καθ' ην ημέραν απεγαλακτίσθη ο Ισαάκ.
9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian woman whom she had borne to Abraham laughing!
Και είδεν η Σάρρα τον υιόν της Άγαρ της Αιγυπτίας, τον οποίον εγέννησεν εις τον Αβραάμ, περιγελώντα τον Ισαάκ.
10 So she said to Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, —for the son of this bondwoman must not inherit with my son with Isaac.
Και είπε προς τον Αβραάμ, Δίωξον την δούλην ταύτην και τον υιόν αυτής· διότι δεν θέλει κληρονομήσει ο υιός της δούλης ταύτης μετά του υιού μου, του Ισαάκ.
11 And the word was very grievous in the eyes of Abraham, —on account of his son.
Εφάνη δε σκληρόν σφόδρα το πράγμα εις τους οφθαλμούς του Αβραάμ περί του υιού αυτού.
12 And God said unto Abraham Let it not be grievous in thine eyes concerning the boy and concerning thy bondwoman, In all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken to her voice, —For in Isaac, shall there be called to thee—a seed.
Και είπεν ο Θεός προς τον Αβραάμ, Ας μη φανή σκληρόν εις τους οφθαλμούς σου περί του παιδίου και περί της δούλης σου· κατά πάντα όσα είπη προς σε η Σάρρα, άκουε τους λόγους αυτής· διότι εν τω Ισαάκ θέλει κληθή εις σε σπέρμα·
13 Yet even the son of the bondwoman, will I appoint to become, a nation, because thy seed, he is.
και τον υιόν δε της δούλης εις έθνος θέλω καταστήσει αυτόν· διότι είναι σπέρμα σου.
14 So Abraham rose up early in the morning—and took bread and a skin of water and gave unto hagar, —putting them on her shoulder and the child, and sent her forth, —so she went her way and wandered, in the desert of Beer-sheba.
Σηκωθείς δε ο Αβραάμ ενωρίς το πρωΐ, έλαβεν άρτους και ασκόν ύδατος και έδωκεν εις την Άγαρ, επιθέσας αυτά επί τον ώμον αυτής, και το παιδίον, και απέπεμψεν αυτήν. Η δε αναχωρήσασα περιεπλανάτο εν τη ερήμω Βηρ-σαβεέ.
15 And the water out of the skin was spent, —so she cast the child under one of the shrubs;
Και αφού ετελείωσε το ύδωρ από του ασκού, έρριψε το παιδίον υποκάτω ενός θάμνου·
16 and went and sat her down over against him at a distance like as of such as draw the bow, for she said Let me not look upon the death of the child, —So she sat down over against him, and the boy lifted up his voice, and wept
και ελθούσα εκάθισεν απέναντι, μακράν έως τόξου βολής· διότι είπε, να μη ίδω τον θάνατον του παιδίου. Και εκάθισεν απέναντι και ύψωσε την φωνήν αυτής και έκλαυσεν.
17 And God heard the voice of the boy, and a messenger of God called unto Hagar out of the heavens; and said to her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Do not fear, for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the boy where he is.
Εισήκουσε δε ο Θεός την φωνήν του παιδίου· και εφώνησεν άγγελος Θεού προς την Άγαρ εκ του ουρανού, και είπε προς αυτήν, Τι έχεις, Άγαρ; μη φοβού· διότι ήκουσεν ο Θεός την φωνήν του παιδίου εκ του τόπου ένθα κείται·
18 Arise lift up the boy, and hold him up with thy hand, —for, a great nation, will I make him.
σηκώθητι, λάβε το παιδίον, και κράτει αυτό με την χείρα σου· διότι θέλω καταστήσει αυτό εις έθνος μέγα.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water, —and went and filled the skin with water, and gave drink unto the boy
Και ήνοιξεν ο Θεός τους οφθαλμούς αυτής, και ιδούσα φρέαρ ύδατος υπήγε και εγέμισε τον ασκόν ύδωρ και επότισε το παιδίον.
20 And it came to pass that God was with the boy, and he grew, —and dwelt in the desert, and he became as he grew up, an archer,
Και ήτο ο Θεός μετά του παιδίου, και ηύξησε, και κατώκησεν εν τη ερήμω και έγεινε τοξότης.
21 And he dwelt in the desert of Paran, —and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
Και κατώκησεν εν τη ερήμω Φαράν· και η μήτηρ αυτού έλαβεν εις αυτόν γυναίκα εκ γης Αιγύπτου.
22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech, with Phicol chieftain of his host, spake unto Abraham, saying, —God, is with thee in all that, thou art doing.
Κατ' εκείνον δε τον καιρόν ο Αβιμέλεχ, μετά του Φιχόλ αρχιστρατήγου της δυνάμεως αυτού, είπε προς τον Αβραάμ, λέγων, Ο Θεός είναι μετά σου εις πάντα όσα πράττεις·
23 Now, therefore, swear to me by God, here, that thou wilt not deal falsely by me, nor by mine offspring, nor by my descendants, —according to the lovingkindness wherewith I have dealt with thee, shalt thou deal with me, and with the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
τώρα λοιπόν όμοσον προς εμέ εδώ εις τον Θεόν, ότι δεν θέλεις ψευσθή προς εμέ, ούτε προς τον υιόν μου, ούτε προς τους εγγόνους μου· αλλά κατά το έλεος, το οποίον έκαμα εις σε, θέλεις κάμει εις εμέ, και εις την γην όπου παρώκησας.
24 And Abraham said, I, will swear.
Και είπεν ο Αβραάμ, Εγώ θέλω ομόσει.
25 But Abraham reproved Abimelech, —on account of the well of water, which the servants of Abimelech had seized.
Και έλεγξεν ο Αβραάμ τον Αβιμέλεχ διά το φρέαρ του ύδατος, το οποίον αφήρπασαν οι δούλοι του Αβιμέλεχ.
26 And Abimelech said, I know not, who hath done this thing, —nor hast even thou, ever told me, nor have even I, ever heard, save to-day.
Και είπεν ο Αβιμέλεχ, Δεν εξεύρω τις έπραξε το πράγμα τούτο· και ούτε συ με εφανέρωσας και ούτε εγώ ήκουσα, ειμή σήμερον.
27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave to Abimelech, —and they two solemnised a covenant
Και λαβών ο Αβραάμ πρόβατα και βόας, έδωκεν εις τον Αβιμέλεχ· και έκαμον αμφότεροι συνθήκην.
28 So then Abraham set seven young sheep of the flock by them-selves,
Και έβαλεν ο Αβραάμ κατά μέρος επτά θηλυκά αρνία του ποιμνίου.
29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What, then mean these seven young sheep here, which thou hast set by themselves?
Και είπεν ο Αβιμέλεχ προς τον Αβραάμ, Τι είναι ταύτα τα επτά θηλυκά αρνία, τα οποία έβαλες κατά μέρος;
30 And he said, The seven young sheep, shalt thou take at my hand, —that they may serve as my witness, that I digged this well.
Ο δε είπεν, Ότι ταύτα τα επτά θηλυκά αρνία θέλεις λάβει εκ της χειρός μου, διά να ήναι εις εμέ εις μαρτύριον ότι εγώ έσκαψα το φρέαρ τούτο.
31 On this account, was the name of that place called Beer-sheba ["oath well"], —because there, had they two sworn.
διά τούτο ωνόμασε τον τόπον εκείνον, Βηρ-σαβεέ· διότι εκεί ώμοσαν αμφότεροι.
32 And when they had solemnised a covenant in Beer-sheba, —then arose Abimelech, with Phicol chief of his host, and returned unto the land of the Philistines.
Και έκαμον συνθήκην εν Βηρ-σαβεέ. Εσηκώθη δε ο Αβιμέλεχ και Φιχόλ ο αρχιστράτηγος της δυνάμεως αυτού, και επέστρεψαν εις την γην των Φιλισταίων.
33 Then planted he a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, —and called there on the name of Yahweh the age-abiding GOD.
Και εφύτευσεν ο Αβραάμ δρυμόν εν Βηρ-σαβεέ· και επεκαλέσθη εκεί το όνομα του Κυρίου, του αιωνίου Θεού.
34 So Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
Παρώκησε δε ο Αβραάμ εν τη γη των Φιλισταίων ημέρας πολλάς.
