Genesis 15
1 After these things, came the word of Yahweh unto Abram, in a vision saying, —Do not fear Abram, I am a shield to thee, thine exceeding great reward.
૧પછી ઈશ્વરના વચન દર્શનમાં ઇબ્રામ પાસે આવ્યું અને કહ્યું, “ઇબ્રામ, તું બીશ નહિ! હું તારી રક્ષા કરીશ તથા મોટું પ્રતિફળ આપીશ.”
2 And Abram said My Lord Yahweh, what canst thou give me, when, I, am going on childless, —and the heir of my house, is Eliezer, of Damascus,
૨ઇબ્રામે કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ ઈશ્વર, તમે મને શું આપશો? કેમ કે હું નિ: સંતાન છું અને મારા ઘરનો વારસ આ દમસ્કસનો એલીએઝેર બનશે.”
3 And Abram said—Lo, to me, hast thou not given seed, —And lo! a son of my household, is mine heir!
૩ઇબ્રામે કહ્યું, “તમે મને હજી સુધી સંતાન આપ્યું નથી, માટે મારા ઘરનો કારભારી મારો વારસ થશે.”
4 And lo! the word of Yahweh [came] unto him, saying, This one, shall not be thine heir: But one who cometh forth of thy body—he shall be thine heir.
૪પછી ઈશ્વરના વચન તેની પાસે આવ્યું અને કહ્યું, “એ તારો વારસ થશે નહિ, પણ તેના બદલે તારો જે પુત્ર જન્મશે તે જ તારો વારસ થશે.”
5 And he brought him forth abroad and said—Look steadfastly. I pray thee towards the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number, them, And he said to him, Thus, shall be thy seed.
૫પછી ઈશ્વર ઇબ્રામને રાત્રે ઘરની બહાર આકાશ નીચે લઈ ગયા અને કહ્યું, “તું ઊંચે આકાશ તરફ જો અને ગણી શકે તો તારાઓ ગણ,” પછી તેમણે તેને કહ્યું, “એ તારાઓ જેટલાં તારા સંતાન થશે.”
6 And he had faith in Yahweh, —so he reckoned it to him as righteousness.
૬તેણે ઈશ્વર પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો અને તેમણે તે તેના ન્યાયીપણાના અર્થે માન્ય રાખ્યો.
7 And he said unto him, —I, am Yahweh, who brought thee forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
૭ઈશ્વરે તેને કહ્યું, “આ દેશ વતન તરીકે તને આપવા માટે ખાલદીઓના નગર ઉરમાંથી તને અહીં લઈ આવનાર ઈશ્વર હું છું.”
8 And he said, My Lord Yahweh, whereby, can I know that I shall inherit it?
૮તેણે કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ ઈશ્વર, હું તેનો વારસો પામીશ, એની ખાતરી મને કેવી રીતે થાય?”
9 And he said unto him, Take for me a heifer three years old, and a she-goat three years old, and a ram three years old, and a turtle-dove and a young pigeon.
૯પછી તેમણે તેને કહ્યું, “મારે માટે ત્રણ વર્ષની એક વાછરડી, ત્રણ વર્ષની બકરી, ત્રણ વર્ષનું ઘેટું, એક હોલું અને કબૂતરનું બચ્ચું લે.”
10 So he took for him all these, and divided them, in the midst, and placed each piece over against its fellow, but the birds, divided he not.
૧૦તેણે એ સર્વ લીધાં, તેઓને વચ્ચેથી બે ભાગમાં કાપ્યા અને દરેકના અડધા ભાગને સામસામા મૂક્યા, પણ તેણે પક્ષીઓને કાપ્યાં નહિ.
11 Then came down the birds of prey upon the carcass, and Abram drove them away.
૧૧જયારે શિકારી પક્ષી તે મૃત દેહ ઉપર ધસી આવ્યાં ત્યારે ઇબ્રામે તેઓને ઉડાડી દીધાં.
12 And it came to pass when, the sun, was about to go in, and, a deep sleep, had fallen upon Abram, lo! a terror a great darkness, was falling upon him.
૧૨પછી સૂર્ય આથમતો હતો ત્યારે ઇબ્રામ ભરનિદ્રામાં પડ્યો અને તેના પર ભયંકર અંધકાર આવી પડ્યો.
13 And he said to Abram—Thou must surely know, that, sojourners, will thy seed become in a land not theirs, and shall serve them and they will humble them, four hundred years;
૧૩પછી ઈશ્વરે ઇબ્રામને કહ્યું, “તું નિશ્ચે જાણી લે કે, તારા વંશજો વિદેશમાં ભટકશે, ગુલામ બનશે અને તેઓ પર ચારસો વર્ષ સુધી જુલમ ગુજારવામાં આવશે.
14 moreover also, the nation whom they will serve, I, am going to judge, and after that, shall they come forth with great substance.
૧૪તેઓ જે લોકોની સેવા કરશે, તે લોકોનો ન્યાય હું કરીશ અને ત્યાર પછી તેઓ ઘણી સંપત્તિ લઈને ત્યાંથી મુક્ત થઈને બહાર આવશે.
15 But, thou, shalt go in unto thy fathers in peace, thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
૧૫પણ તું પોતાના પૂર્વજોની પાસે શાંતિએ જશે અને તું ઘણી વૃદ્ધ ઉંમરે મૃત્યુ પામશે અને દફનાવાશે.
16 And, in the fourth generation, shall they return hither, —for not complete, is the iniquity of the Amorites, as yet,
૧૬તારા વંશજો ત્યાંથી ચોથી પેઢીમાં અહીં પાછા આવશે, કેમ કે અત્યારે અહીં રહેતા અમોરીઓના પાપનો ઘડો ત્યારે ભરાઈ જશે અથવા તેઓ શિક્ષાને પાત્ર થશે.”
17 So it came to pass when, the sun, had gone in, and, a thick darkness, had come on, that lo there was a smoking hearth and torch of fire, which passed through between these pieces.
૧૭સૂર્ય આથમતાં અંધારું થયું, ત્યારે જુઓ, એક સળગતી સગડી તથા બળતી મશાલ એ ટુકડાંઓની વચ્ચેથી પસાર થઈ.
18 In that day, did Yahweh solemnise with Abram a covenant, saying, —To thy seed, have I given this land, from the river of Egypt as far as the great river—the river Euphrates:
૧૮તે જ દિવસે ઈશ્વરે ઇબ્રામ સાથે કરાર કરીને કહ્યું, “મિસરની નદીથી તે મોટી નદી ફ્રાત સુધી આ દેશ મેં તારા વંશજોને આપ્યો છે.
19 the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite;
૧૯કેનીઓનો, કનિઝીઓનો, કાદમોનીઓનો;
20 and the Hittite and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim;
૨૦હિત્તીઓનો, પરિઝીઓનો, રફાઈઓનો;
21 and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.
૨૧અમોરીઓનો, કનાનીઓનો, ગિર્ગાશીઓનો તથા યબૂસીઓનો દેશ તેઓને આપ્યો છે.”
