Ezra 10
1 Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocation—men and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.
Als nun Esra so betete und weinend vor dem Tempel Gottes hingestreckt sein Bekenntnis ablegte, hatte sich eine sehr große Schar von Israeliten um ihn versammelt, Männer und Weiber und Kinder; denn auch das Volk war in heftiges Weinen ausgebrochen.
2 Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land, —yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.
Da hob Sechanja, der Sohn Jehïels, von den Nachkommen Elams, an und sprach zu Esra: Wir haben uns vergangen gegen unseren Gott, daß wir fremde Weiber von den Bewohnern des Landes heimgeführt haben; doch ist dieserhalb jetzt noch Hoffnung für Israel!
3 Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our God—to put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God, —and, according to the law, let it be done.
So laßt uns jetzt unserem Gotte feierlich geloben, alle solche Weiber und was von ihnen geboren ist, kraft der Entschließung meines Herrn und derer, die vor dem Gesetz unseres Gottes Ehrfurcht haben, fortzuschaffen, und nach dem Gesetze soll verfahren werden.
4 Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee, —be strong, and act.
Stehe auf, denn dir liegt die Sache ob, und wir werden dir beistehen; ermanne dich und handle!
5 Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this word—and they sware.
Da erhob sich Esra und ließ die Obersten der Priester und der Leviten und von ganz Israel schwören, demgemäß zu handeln, und sie schwuren.
6 Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, —and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.
Da verließ Esra den Platz vor dem Tempel Gottes und begab sich in die Zelle Johanans, des Sohnes Eljasibs. Dort übernachtete er, ohne Speise zu genießen oder Wasser zu trinken; denn er war in Bekümmernis über die Versündigung der Weggeführten.
7 Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
Hierauf ließ man in Juda und Jerusalem an alle aus der Gefangenschaft Zurückgekehrten Befehl ergehen, sich nach Jerusalem zu versammeln.
8 and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted, —and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.
Und wer irgend am dritten Tage nicht erscheinen würde, wie es der Beschluß der Obersten und der Vornehmen forderte, dessen gesamte Habe sollte dem Banne verfallen, und er selbst aus der Gemeinde der Weggeführten ausgeschlossen werden.
9 Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month, —and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.
Da versammelten sich alle Männer von Juda und Benjamin am dritten Tage nach Jerusalem, und zwar war es der neunte Monat, am zwanzigsten Tage des Monats. Und das ganze Volk saß auf dem freien Platze vor dem Tempel Gottes, zitternd um der Angelegenheit willen und infolge der Regengüsse.
10 Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women, —to add unto the guilt of Israel.
Da erhob sich Esra, der Priester, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt euch vergangen und habt fremde Weiber heimgeführt, um die Schuld Israels noch zu vermehren.
11 Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, —and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.
So legt nun vor Jahwe, dem Gott eurer Väter, das Bekenntnis eurer Sünde ab und thut seinen Willen, indem ihr euch von den Bewohnern des Landes und den fremden Weibern absondert.
12 Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice, —Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.
Da antwortete die ganze Gemeinde und sprach mit lauter Stimme: So, wie du gesagt hast, liegt uns ob zu thun.
13 Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside, —and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.
Jedoch das Volk ist zahlreich, und es ist die Regenzeit, so daß wir nicht im Freien bleiben können; auch ist das Geschäft nicht an einem oder in zwei Tagen zu erledigen, weil wir uns in dieser Angelegenheit vielfältig verschuldet haben.
14 Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.
So mögen denn unsere Obersten für die ganze Gemeinde tagen; und alle die in unseren Städten, die fremde Weiber heimgeführt haben, sollen je zur anberaumten Zeit kommen, und mit ihnen die Vornehmen und Richter der einzelnen Städte, um endlich die Zornesglut unseres Gottes bezüglich dieser Angelegenheit von uns abzuwenden.
15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this, —and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.
Nur Jonathan, der Sohn Asahels, und Jahseja, der Sohn Thikwas, traten hiergegen auf; und Mesullam und der Levit Sabthai unterstützten sie.
16 But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain men—ancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name, —and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;
Da thaten die aus der Gefangenschaft Zurückgekehrten also. Und Esra, der Priester, wählte sich Männer aus, die Familienhäupter der einzelnen Familien, und zwar alle mit Namen; und sie hielten eine Sitzung am ersten Tage des zehnten Monats, um die Angelegenheit zu untersuchen.
17 and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women, —by the first day of the first month.
Und sie erledigten allerwärts die Sache der Männer, die fremde Weiber heimgeführt hatten, bis zum ersten Tage des ersten Monats.
18 Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women, —of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;
Es fanden sich aber von den Nachkommen der Priester folgende, die fremde Weiber heimgeführt hatten: Von den Nachkommen Jesuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, und seinen Brüdern: Maaseja, Eliëser, Jarib und Gedalja;
19 and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives, —and, being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt.
die gaben ihre Hand darauf, daß sie ihre Weiber fortschaffen und einen Widder als Buße für ihre Schuld entrichten wollten.
20 And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.
Von den Nachkommen Immers: Hanani und Sebadja.
21 And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
Von den Nachkommen Harims: Maaseja, Elia, Semaja, Jehïel und Usia.
22 And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.
Von den Nachkommen Pashurs: Eljoënai, Maaseja, Ismaël, Nethaneel, Josabad und Eleasa.
23 And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
Und von den Leviten: Josabad, Simeï und Kelaja - das ist Kelita -, Pethahja, Juda und Eliëser.
24 And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.
Von den Sängern: Eljasib. Von den Thorhütern: Sallum, Telem und Uri.
25 And, of Israel, of the sons of Parosh, Ramiah and Izziah and Malchijah and Mijamin and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
Von den gemeinen Israeliten: Von den Nachkommen Pareos': Ramja, Jisia, Malchia, Mijamin, Eleasar, Malchia und Benaja.
26 And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.
Von den Nachkommen Elams: Mattanja, Sacharja, Jehïel, Abdi, Jeremoth und Elia.
27 And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
Von den Nachkommen Sattus: Eljoënai, Eljasib, Mattanja, Jeremoth, Sabad und Asisa.
28 And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
Von den Nachkommen Bebais: Johanan, Hananja, Sabbai, Athlai.
29 And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.
Von den Nachkommen Banis: Mesullam, Malluch und Adaja, Jasub, Seal, Jeramoth.
30 And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal, —Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
Von den Nachkommen Pahath-Moabs: Adna, Kelal, Benaja, Maaseja, Mattanja, Bezaleel, Binnui und Manasse.
31 And, [of] the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;
Und die Nachkommen Harims: Eliëser, Jisia, Malchia, Semaja, Simeon,
32 Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.
Benjamin, Malluch, Semarja.
33 Of the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, —Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
Von den Nachkommen Hasums: Mathnai, Mathatha, Sabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasse, Simeï.
34 Of the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel;
Von den Nachkommen Banis: Maadai, Amram, Uël,
35 Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhu;
Benaja, Bedja, Keluhi,
36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib;
Banja, Meremoth, Eljasib,
37 Mettaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu;
Mattanja, Mathnai, Jaasai,
38 and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei;
Bani, Binnui, Simeï,
39 and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah;
Selemja, Nathan, Adaja,
40 Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai;
Machnadbai, Sasai, Sarai,
41 Azarel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah;
Asareel, Selemja, Semarja,
42 Shallum, Amariah, Joseph.

43 Of the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, —Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.
Von den Nachkommen Nebos: Jeïel, Mattithja, Sabad, Sebina, Jaddai, Joël, Benaja.
44 All these, had taken foreign women, —and had begotten of them children.
Alle diese hatten fremde Weiber genommen; und sie entließen sie samt den Kindern.
