Ezekiel 33
1 And the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:
യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് എനിക്കുണ്ടായി:
2 Son of man Speak unto the sons of thy people and thou shalt say unto them, A land—when I bring upon it a sword, And the people of the land shall take one man out of their whole number, and appoint him for them, as watchman;
“മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നിന്റെ ദേശക്കാരോടു സംസാരിക്കുക. അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക: ‘ഞാൻ ഒരു ദേശത്തിനെതിരേ വാൾ വരുത്തുമ്പോൾ ആ ദേശവാസികൾ അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒരാളെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു കാവൽക്കാരനാക്കിവെക്കുന്നപക്ഷം,
3 And he shall see the sword coming upon the land, —and shall blow with the horn and warn the people
ദേശത്തിനെതിരേ വാൾ വരുന്നതുകണ്ടിട്ട് ജനത്തിനു മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകാൻ അവൻ കാഹളം ഊതുമ്പോൾ,
4 Then as for him who really heard the sound of the horn and took not warning, The sword indeed hath come and taken him away, — His blood, upon his own head shall remain: —
അവർ കാഹളശബ്ദം കേട്ടിട്ടും മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് ഗൗനിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയുംചെയ്തിട്ടു വാൾ വന്ന് അവരുടെ ജീവൻ എടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമെങ്കിൽ, അവരുടെ രക്തം അവരുടെ തലമേൽത്തന്നെ ഇരിക്കും.
5 The sound of the horn, he heard, but took not warning, His blood, upon himself shall remain, — Whereas had he taken warning, his own soul, he should have delivered.
അവർ കാഹളശബ്ദം കേട്ടിട്ട് അതു ഗൗനിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയാൽ അവരുടെ രക്തം അവരുടെ തലമേൽത്തന്നെ ഇരിക്കും; അവർ അതു ഗൗനിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ സ്വന്തം ജീവൻ രക്ഷിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.
6 But as for the watchman-When he seeth the sword coming. And hath not blown with the horn. And the people, have not been warned, And the sword, hath come and taken away from among them any person he, for his iniquity, hath been taken away, But his blood at the hand of the watchman will I require.
എന്നാൽ കാവൽക്കാരൻ വാൾ വരുന്നതുകണ്ടിട്ട് ജനത്തിനു മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകുന്നതിനു കാഹളം ധ്വനിപ്പിക്കാതെയിരുന്നാൽ വാൾ വന്ന് അവരിൽ ഒരുവന്റെ ജീവൻ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നപക്ഷം, ആ മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ പാപംനിമിത്തം മരണമടയുന്നുവെങ്കിലും ഞാൻ കാവൽക്കാരനെ അവന്റെ രക്തത്തിന് ഉത്തരവാദിയായി പരിഗണിക്കും.’
7 Thou therefore Son of man, A watchman, have I appointed thee, to the house of Israel, So then thou shalt hear at my mouth a message, and shalt warn them from me.
“മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഇസ്രായേൽജനത്തിന് ഒരു കാവൽക്കാരനായി നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിനാൽ ഞാൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്ന വചനം കേട്ട് അവർക്ക് എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകുക.
8 When I say to the lawless man O lawless man thou shalt surely die, And thou have not spoken to warn the lawless man from his way He the lawless man for his iniquity shall die, But his blood- at thy hand- will I demand.
ദുഷ്ടരോട്: ‘ദുഷ്ടരേ, നിങ്ങൾ നിശ്ചയമായും മരിക്കും,’ എന്നു ഞാൻ കൽപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടജീവിതരീതിയിൽനിന്ന് അവരെ പിന്തിരിപ്പിക്കാനായി നീ അവരെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കാതെയിരുന്നാൽ, ദുഷ്ടർ തങ്ങളുടെ പാപംനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും; അവരുടെ രക്തത്തിന് ഉത്തരവാദി നീ ആയിരിക്കും.
9 But as for thyself When thou hast warned a lawless man from his way, to turn therefrom, And he hath not turned from his way He, for his own iniquity shall die, But thou hast delivered thine own life,
എന്നാൽ, നീ ദുഷ്ടരോട് അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടവഴികൾ വിട്ടുതിരിയാൻ താക്കീതു നൽകുകയും അവർ അതനുസരിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പാപത്തിൽ മരിക്കും, നീയോ നിന്റെ പ്രാണനെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കും.
10 Thou, therefore, Son of man, Say unto the house of Israel, Thus, have ye spoken saying: When our transgressions and our sins are upon us, —and for them, we are melting away How then can we live?
“മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, ഇസ്രായേൽജനത്തോടു നീ ഇപ്രകാരം പറയണം: ‘“ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുറ്റങ്ങളും പാപങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവനിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങൾ ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് എങ്ങനെ ജീവിക്കാൻ കഴിയും?” എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.
11 Say unto them, As I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, Surely, I can take no pleasure in the death of the lawless man, But that the lawless man turn from his way, and live, - Turn ye, turn ye, from your wicked ways, For wherefore should ye die. O house of Israel?
ജീവനുള്ള ഞാൻ ശപഥംചെയ്യുന്നു, ദുഷ്ടരുടെ മരണം ഞാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നില്ല; അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികൾ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞ് ജീവിക്കണമെന്നാണ് എന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം. തിരിയുക, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടവഴികൾ വിട്ടുതിരിയുക. ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹമേ, നിങ്ങൾ എന്തിനു മരിക്കുന്നു? എന്ന് യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു,’ എന്ന് അവരോടു പറയുക.
12 Thou, therefore, Son of man Say unto the sons of thy people— The righteousness of the righteous man, shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression, And as for the lawlessness of the lawless man, He shall not stumble thereby, in the day of his return from his lawlessness, - Nor shall the righteous man be able to live thereby, in the day of his sin.
“അതുകൊണ്ട് മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നിന്റെ സ്വന്തം ദേശക്കാരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക: ‘നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ അനുസരിക്കാതെ തെറ്റുചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ മുൻകാല നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികൾ അവരെ രക്ഷിക്കുകയില്ല. ദുഷ്ടർ തങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടവഴികൾ വിട്ടുതിരിയുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ മുൻകാല ദുഷ്ടതകൾ അവരെ വീഴ്ത്തിക്കളയുകയില്ല. നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ പാപംചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിലത്തെ നീതിനിമിത്തം അവർ ജീവിക്കാൻ ഇടയാകുകയില്ല.’
13 When I say of the righteous man He shall surely live but he hath trusted in his righteousness and committed perversity None of his righteous deeds shall be mentioned, But by his perversity which he hath committed—thereby, shall he die.
നീതിനിഷ്ഠരോട് നീ തീർച്ചയായും ജീവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ പറയുമ്പോൾ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ നീതിയിൽ ആശ്രയംവെച്ച് ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവർ മുമ്പുചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികളൊന്നും സ്മരിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല; തങ്ങൾചെയ്ത തിന്മനിമിത്തം അവർ മരിക്കും.
14 And when I say to the lawless man Thou shalt surely die, but he shall turn from his sin, and do justice and righteousness:
ഞാൻ ദുഷ്ടരോട്, ‘നിങ്ങൾ തീർച്ചയായും മരിക്കും’ എന്നു പറയുമ്പോൾ, അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പാപം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞ് നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുമെങ്കിൽ—
15 The debt-pledge, the lawless man shall restore Plunder, shall pay back, In the statutes of life, hath walked, so as not to commit perversity. He shall surely live he shall not die: —
തങ്ങൾ പണയമായി വാങ്ങിയതു തിരിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുകയും മോഷ്ടിച്ച വസ്തു തിരിച്ചേൽപ്പിക്കുകയും ജീവൻ നൽകുന്ന നിയമങ്ങൾ അനുസരിക്കുകയും ദോഷം പ്രവർത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നപക്ഷം, അവർ തീർച്ചയായും ജീവിക്കും; അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർ മരിക്കുകയില്ല.
16 None of his sins which he hath committed shall be called to mind against him, — Justice and righteousness, hath he done He shall surely live.
അവർ ചെയ്തുപോയ പാപങ്ങളൊന്നും അവർക്കെതിരേ ഓർക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല. അവർ നീതിയും ന്യായവുമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ തീർച്ചയായും ജീവിക്കും.
17 And can the sons of thy people say, The way of The Lord will not be equal? Nay! but as for them, their way will not be equal!
“എന്നിട്ടും നിന്റെ സ്വദേശികൾ: ‘കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴി നീതിയുക്തമല്ല’ എന്നു പറയുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അവരുടെ വഴിയാണ് നീതിയുക്തമല്ലാത്തതായി ഇരിക്കുന്നത്.
18 When the righteous man shall turn from his righteousness and commit perversity Then shall he die for them;
നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ തങ്ങളുടെ നീതിനിഷ്ഠ വിട്ടുമാറി ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവർ അതുനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും.
19 But when the lawless man shall turn from his lawlessness, and do justice and righteousness Upon them, shall he live.
എന്നാൽ ഒരു ദുഷ്ടൻ തന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞ് ന്യായവും നീതിയും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, അതു ചെയ്യുകമൂലം അവൻ ജീവിക്കും.
20 And can ye then say, The way of The Lord will not be equal? Every man—according to his own ways so will I judge you O house of Israel?
എന്നിട്ടും ഇസ്രായേൽജനമേ, ‘കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴി നീതിയുക്തമല്ല,’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തരെയും അവരുടെ സ്വന്തവഴികൾ അനുസരിച്ച് ന്യായംവിധിക്കും.”
21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the tenth month on the fifth of the month of our exile, that there came unto me one that had escaped out of Jerusalem saying. Smitten is the city!
ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാസത്തിന്റെ പന്ത്രണ്ടാംവർഷം പത്താംമാസം അഞ്ചാംതീയതി ജെറുശലേമിൽനിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടുപോന്ന ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “നഗരം വീണുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു!”
22 Now the hand of Yahweh, had come unto me in the evening, before the coming of him who had escaped, and he had opened my mouth, by the time that he came to me in the morning, —so my mouth, was opened, and I was dumb no longer.
ആ മനുഷ്യൻ വന്നതിന്റെ തലേന്നാൾ വൈകിട്ട് യഹോവയുടെ കൈ എന്റെമേൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ആ മനുഷ്യൻ പ്രഭാതത്തിൽ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് അവിടന്ന് എന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നു. അങ്ങനെ എന്റെ വായ് തുറക്കപ്പെട്ടതിനാൽ ഞാൻ പിന്നെ മൗനമായിരുന്നില്ല.
23 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me saying:
യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് എനിക്കുണ്ടായി:
24 Son of man These inhabitants of waste places on the soil of Israel are saying thus, One, was Abraham. Yet he inherited the land, - But, we, are many, To us, is the land given as an inheritance.
“മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, ഇസ്രായേൽദേശത്തിന്റെ ശൂന്യാവശിഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നവർ പറയുന്നത്: ‘അബ്രാഹാം ഒരേയൊരു മനുഷ്യനായിരുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ദേശംമുഴുവനും അവകാശമായി ലഭിച്ചു. ഞങ്ങളോ, അനേകരാണെങ്കിലും ദേശം അവകാശമായി നൽകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.’
25 Wherefore say unto them Thus, saith My Lord. Yahweh. -With the blood, ye do eat. And your eyes, ye do lift up unto your manufactured gods. And blood, ye do shed; And the land, shall ye inherit?
അതുകൊണ്ട് അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക: ‘യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ രക്തത്തോടുകൂടെ മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്കുകയും രക്തം ചൊരിയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയുള്ള നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ദേശം അവകാശമായി നൽകണമോ?
26 Ye men have taken your stand by your sword. Ye women have wrought abomination, And every man—with the wife of his neighbour, have ye defiled yourselves; And the land, shall ye inherit?
നിങ്ങൾ സ്വന്തം വാളിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ മ്ലേച്ഛമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തൻ തന്റെ അയൽക്കാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയുള്ള നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ദേശം അവകാശമായി നൽകണമോ?’
27 Thus shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, As I live, surely, they who are in the waste places by the sword, shall fall, And him who is on the face of the field to the wild beast, have I given to be devoured, - And they who are in the mountain holds and in the pits: by pestilence, shall die;
“നീ അവരോട് പറയേണ്ടത്: ‘യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ജീവനുള്ള ഞാൻ ശപഥംചെയ്യുന്നു, ശൂന്യശിഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നവർ വാളാൽ വീഴും; വെളിമ്പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻ കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങൾക്ക് ഇരയാക്കിത്തീർക്കും; കോട്ടകളിലും ഗുഹകളിലും പാർക്കുന്നവർ പകർച്ചവ്യാധിയാൽ നശിക്കും.
28 And I will make the land a desolation and an astonishment, So shall be made to cease the pride of her strength, - And the mountains of Israel shall be too desolate for any to pass through.
ഞാൻ ദേശത്തെ ഒരു ശൂന്യസ്ഥലമാക്കിത്തീർക്കും; അവളുടെ ശക്തിയും പ്രതാപവും അവസാനിക്കും; ഇസ്രായേലിലെ ഗിരിപ്രദേശങ്ങൾ, ആരും വഴിനടക്കാതവണ്ണം ശൂന്യമായിത്തീരും.
29 So shall they know that I, am Yahweh, — When I make the land a desolation and an astonishment, because of all their abominations which they have committed.
അവർ ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ മ്ലേച്ഛകർമങ്ങളുംനിമിത്തം ഞാൻ ദേശത്തെ പാഴും ശൂന്യവുമാക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ അറിയും.’
30 Thou therefore Son of man, the sons of thy people who are talking against thee Near the walls and in the entrances of the houses, are speaking one with another, every man with his brother saying. Come in we pray you and heat, what is the word that is coming forth from Yahweh;
“മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നിന്റെ സ്വദേശികൾ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് മതിലുകൾക്കരികെയും വീടിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കലുംവെച്ചു പറയുന്നത്: ‘നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്ദേശം വന്നു കേൾക്കുക.’
31 That they may come unto thee as people do come And may sit before thee as my people, And they will hear thy words, But, the words themselves, will they not do, — though fond with their mouths, they seem to be, After their unjust gain, their heart is going.
എന്റെ ജനം പതിവായി ചെയ്യാറുള്ളതുപോലെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന് നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇരുന്ന് നീ പറയുന്ന വാക്കുകൾ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു കേൾക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ അതൊന്നും അവർ പ്രായോഗികമാക്കുന്നില്ല. തങ്ങളുടെ വാകൊണ്ട് അവർ വളരെ സ്നേഹം കാണിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ അന്യായലാഭം കൊതിക്കുന്നു.
32 And lo! thou art to them— As a bewitching song, Of one with a beautiful voice. And skilfully touching the strings, —So will they hear thy words, And yet be going to do none of them.
വാസ്തവത്തിൽ നീ അവർക്കു വാദ്യം മീട്ടി പ്രേമഗാനങ്ങൾ മധുരസ്വരത്തിൽ പാടുന്ന ഒരുവനെക്കാൾ വലിയ വിശേഷതയൊന്നുമില്ല. അവർ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും അവ അനുസരിക്കുന്നില്ല.
33 But when it cometh Lo! it is coming, Then shall they know that a prophet hath been in their midst.
“എന്നാൽ ഇവയെല്ലാം സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ—ഇതാ അതു നിശ്ചയമായും വരുമ്പോൾ—തങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ അറിയും എന്ന് യഹോവയായ കർത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്.”
