Ezekiel 32
1 And it came to pass, in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month on the first of the month, that the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
Et la douzième année, le douzième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
2 Son of man Take up a dirge over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and thou shalt say unto him. The young lion of the nations, thou didst deem thyself, - Whereas thou, wast like the crocodile in the seas, And didst cause thy streams to burst forth And didst trouble the waters with thy feet, And foul their rivers.
Fils de l'homme, élève une complainte sur Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et dis-lui: Tu ressemblais à un jeune lion parmi les peuples, et tu étais comme un dragon dans la mer. Tu t'élanças dans tes fleuves, et troublas les eaux avec tes pieds, et foulas leurs flots.
3 Thus saith My Lord, Yahweh, Therefore will I spread over thee my net, With a gathered host of many peoples, -And they shall bring thee up in my net;
Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: J'étendrai sur toi mon réseau devant une foule de peuples réunis, et ils te tireront dans mon filet,
4 And I will stretch thee out on the land, Over the face of the field, will I fling thee, - And will cause to settle upon thee all the birds of the heavens, And will satiate with thee the wild beasts of all the earth;
et je te jetterai sur la terre, et t'étendrai sur la surface du sol, et ferai que tous les oiseaux des Cieux se posent sur toi, et te rendrai la pâture des bêtes de toute la terre;
5 And I will lay thy flesh on the mountains, — And fill the valleys, with thy blood;
et je jetterai ta chair sur les montagnes, et remplirai les vallées de tes débris,
6 And will soak the earth with thy blood, amongst the mountains, - And the channels shall be filled with thee.
et j'abreuverai de ton sang jusques aux montagnes le pays où tu nages, et les vallées seront remplies de toi;
7 And when I quench thee, I will cover the heavens, And obscure their stars, — The sun—with a cloud, will I cover, And the moon shall not shed her light;
et, quand je te détruirai, je voilerai le ciel, et ternirai ses étoiles, de nuages je voilerai le soleil, et la lune ne donnera plus sa lumière;
8 As for all the light-bearers in the heavens, I will obscure them over thee— And will stretch out darkness over thy land, Declareth My Lord Yahweh.
j'obscurcirai à cause de toi tous les brillants luminaires du ciel, et répandrai les ténèbres sur ton pays, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel;
9 And I will aggrieve the heart of many peoples, - when I bring them who are broken off from thee among the nations, unto lands which thou hast not known.
et je porterai le chagrin dans le cœur de beaucoup de peuples, quand j'annoncerai ta chute parmi les nations, dans des pays que tu ne connais pas;
10 Yea I will cause amazement over thee unto many peoples And the hair of their kings shall stand on end over thee, when I brandish my sword over their faces, - And they shall tremble every moment every man for his own life, In the day of thy fall.
et je frapperai de stupeur à ton sujet nombre de peuples, et à cause de toi le frisson saisira leurs rois, quand je brandirai mon épée à leur visage; et ils trembleront incessamment chacun pour sa vie, au jour de ta chute.
11 For thus saith My Lord, Yahweh: -the sword of the king of Babylon shall reach thee.
Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: L'épée du roi de Babel fondra sur toi.
12 With the swords of mighty men, will I cause thy multitude to fall, Terrible ones of the nations all of them!-And they shall spoil the pride of Egypt, And all her multitude shall be destroyed,
Par les épées des héros je ferai tomber ton peuple; ils sont tous les plus violents des hommes; ils abattront l'orgueil de l'Egypte, et tout son peuple sera anéanti.
13 And I will cause to perish all her beasts, from beside the many waters, — And the foot of man shall not trouble them any more, Nor shall hoof of beast, trouble them.
Et j'exterminerai tous ses animaux du milieu des grandes eaux; et le pied de l'homme ne les troublera plus, et le sabot des animaux ne les troublera plus.
14 Then, will I make their waters subside, And, their streams—like oil, will I cause to flow, — Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.
Alors je rendrai leurs eaux limpides, et ferai couler leurs fleuves comme de l'huile, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel,
15 When I make the land of Egypt an astonishment A land laid bare of its fulness, When I cut off all that dwell therein, Then shall they know that, I am Yahweh.
quand je désolerai le pays d'Egypte, et que le pays sera dépouillé de tout ce qu'il contient, quand je frapperai tous ses habitants, afin qu'ils sachent que je suis l'Éternel.
16 A dirge, it is And they shall chant it, The daughters of the nations Shall chant it: Over Egypt and over all her multitude, Shall they chant it, Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.
C'est là une complainte, et on la dira comme complainte, les filles des peuples la diront comme complainte; elles élèveront cette complainte sur l'Egypte et sur tout son peuple, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
17 And it came to pass in the twelfth year on the fifteenth of the month, that the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:
Et la douzième année, le quinzième jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
18 Son of man Wail thou over the multitude of Egypt and cause it to descend—her and the daughters of the famous nations—into the earth below with them who descend into the pit.
Fils de l'homme, gémis sur le peuple de l'Egypte, et annonce qu'ils descendront, eux et les filles des peuples puissants, sous la terre vers ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse.
19 Than whom, art thou more precious? Descend and be laid low with the uncircumcised:
Qui surpasses-tu en beauté? Descends et te couche à côté des incirconcis!
20 Into the midst of them who were thrust through by the sword, let them fall, -To the sword, hath she been delivered up, Lay ye hold of her and all her multitudes.
Ils tomberont parmi ceux que l'épée a percés. [Déjà] l'épée est remise. Entraînez-la, ainsi que tout son peuple!
21 The chiefs of the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hades, with his helpers, - They have descended They have lain down. The uncircumcised! Thrust through by the sword. (Sheol h7585)
Les plus puissants héros avec ses auxiliaires lui parleront du sein des Enfers où sont descendus, où sont couchés les incirconcis percés par l'épée. (Sheol h7585)
22 There, is Assyria with all her gathered host, Round about him, are his graves, All of them thrust through, The fallen by the sword:
Là est Assur et toute sa multitude; il est entouré de leurs tombeaux; tous ont été percés, ont péri par l'épée.
23 Whose graves have been set In the recesses of the pit, And so her gathered host is round about her grave, All of them thrust through. Fallen by the sword, Who caused terror in the land of the living.
Son tombeau est pratiqué dans la fosse la plus enfoncée, et sa multitude entoure son tombeau; tous ont été percés, ont péri par l'épée, eux qui répandaient la terreur sur la terre des vivants.
24 There, is Persia with all her multitude, round about her grave, — All of them, thrust through The fallen by the sword Who have descended, uncircumcised into the earth below Who made themselves a terror in the land of the living, And so they have borne their confusion with them who descend into the pit:
Là est Élam et toute sa multitude; il est entouré de ses tombeaux; tous ils ont été percés, ont péri par l'épée, sont descendus incirconcis sous la terre, eux qui répandaient la terreur sur la terre des vivants, et ils subissent leur opprobre auprès de ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse;
25 In the midst of them who were thrust through, have they have placed a couch for her with all her multitude, Round about it, are her graves, -All of them, uncircumcised. Thrust through with the sword. For that their terror was caused in the land of the living. And so they have borne their confusion, with them who descend into the pit, In the midst of them who were thrust through, hath it been placed.
parmi les morts on lui a donné sa place avec toute sa multitude; il est entouré de ses tombeaux, tous incirconcis ils ont été percés par l'épée; parce qu'ils répandaient la terreur sur la terre des vivants, ils subissent leur opprobre avec ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse; parmi les morts ils sont couchés.
26 There, are Meshech-Tuba and all her multitude, Round about it, are her graves, — All of them uncircumcised, Who were thrust through with the sword, For that they made themselves a terror in the land of the living;
Là sont Mésech et Thubal et toute leur multitude; ils sont entourés de ses tombeaux; tous incirconcis, ils ont été percés par l'épée, parce qu'ils répandaient la terreur sur la terre des vivants.
27 Therefore shall they not lie with the mighty men The fallen ones from age-past times, Who descended into hades with their weapons of war And their swords were placed under their heads. But their iniquities have come upon their bones Because of the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. (Sheol h7585)
Et ils ne seraient pas couchés avec les héros morts des incirconcis qui sont descendus dans les Enfers avec leurs armes de guerre, sous la tête desquels on met leurs épées, et dont le crime repose sur leurs ossements, parce qu'ils furent la terreur des héros sur la terre des vivants? (Sheol h7585)
28 Thou, therefore in the midst of the uncircumcised, shalt be overthrown. And shalt lie low with them who were thrust through by the sword.
De même tu seras mis en pièces au milieu des incirconcis, et couché avec ceux que l'épée a percés.
29 There, are Edom her kings and all her princes, Who have been delivered up in their might. With them who were thrust through by he sword, — They with the uncircumcised, shall lie low. Even with them who descend into the pit.
Là est Édom, ses rois et tous ses princes, qui malgré leur bravoure ont été mis avec ceux que l'épée a percés; ils sont couchés au milieu des incirconcis, de ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse.
30 There, are the princes of the North, all of them, and all the Zidonians, Who have descended with them who were thrust through. By reason of the terror they caused, of their might, are they ashamed, So they have lain down uncircumcised. With them who were thrust through by the sword, And they have bowed their confusion with them who descend into the pit.
Là sont les princes du Nord, eux tous, et tous les Sidoniens qui sont descendus vers les morts, malgré la terreur qu'ils répandaient par leur bravoure, ils sont confondus et couchés, incirconcis, avec ceux que l'épée a percés, et subissent leur opprobre près de ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse.
31 Them, shall Pharaoh see, and be grieved over all his multitude, — Thrust through with the sword, shall be Pharaoh and all his army! Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.
Tels sont ceux que verra Pharaon: il sera consolé de toute sa multitude. L'épée percera Pharaon et toute son armée, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
32 For I have suffered his terror to be in the land of the living, Therefore shall be laid low In the midst of the uncircumcised With them who were thrust through by the sword, Pharaoh and all his multitude! Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.
Je le laissai répandre la terreur sur la terre des vivants; mais il est couché au milieu des incirconcis, avec ceux que l'épée a percés, Pharaon et toute sa multitude, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
