Exodus 34

1 And Yahweh said unto Moses—Hew thee two tables of stone, like the first, —and I will write upon the tables the words which were upon the first tables which thou didst break in pieces;

Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Κόψον εις σεαυτόν δύο πλάκας λιθίνας καθώς τας πρώτας· και θέλω γράψει επί των πλακών τους λόγους, οίτινες ήσαν επί των πρώτων πλακών, τας οποίας συνέτριψας·

2 and be thou ready by the morning, —and thou shalt come up. in the morning, into Mount Sinai; then shalt thou station thyself for me there upon the top of the mount;

και γίνου έτοιμος το πρωΐ, και ανάβηθι το πρωΐ επί το όρος Σινά, και παράστηθι εκεί ενώπιόν μου επί της κορυφής του όρους·

3 and, no man, may come up with thee, and let no man so much as be seen in all the mount, —and let not even the flocks or the herds, feed in front of that mountain.

και ουδείς θέλει αναβή μετά σου ουδέ θέλει φανή τις καθ' όλον το όρος· και τα ποίμνια και αι αγέλαι δεν θέλουσι βοσκηθή έμπροσθεν του όρους εκείνου.

4 So he hewed two tables of stone like the first and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up into Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, —and took in his hand two tables of stone.

Και έκοψε δύο πλάκας λιθίνας καθώς τας πρώτας· και σηκωθείς ο Μωϋσής ενωρίς το πρωΐ, ανέβη επί το όρος Σινά, καθώς προσέταξεν εις αυτόν ο Κύριος, και έλαβεν εις τας χείρας αυτού τας δύο πλάκας τας λιθίνας.

5 And Yahweh descended in the cloud, and took his station with him there, —and proclaimed himself by the name Yahweh.

Και κατέβη ο Κύριος εν νεφέλη και εστάθη μετ' αυτού εκεί και εκήρυξε το όνομα του Κυρίου.

6 So Yahweh passed before him, and proclaimed, —Yahweh, Yahweh, A God of compassion and favour, —Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and faithfulness:

Και παρήλθε Κύριος έμπροσθεν αυτού και εκήρυξε, Κύριος, Κύριος ο Θεός, οικτίρμων και ελεήμων, μακρόθυμος και πολυέλεος, και αληθινός,

7 Keeping lovingkindness to a thousand generations, Forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, Though he leave not, utterly unpunished, Visiting the iniquity of fathers, Upon sons, And upon sons’ sons, Unto a third and unto a fourth generation.

φυλάττων έλεος εις χιλιάδας, συγχωρών ανομίαν και παράβασιν και αμαρτίαν και ουδόλως αθωόνων τον ένοχον· ανταποδίδων την ανομίαν των πατέρων επί τα τέκνα και επί τα τέκνα των τέκνων, έως τρίτης και τετάρτης γενεάς.

8 Then Moses made haste, —and bent his head towards the earth and bowed himself down;

Και έσπευσεν ο Μωϋσής και κύψας εις την γην, προσεκύνησε·

9 and said—If, I pray thee, I have found favour in thine eyes, O My Lord, I pray thee let My Lord go on in our midst, —although a stiff-necked people, it is, so wilt thou pardon our iniquity and our sin and take us as thine own.

και είπεν, Εάν τώρα εύρηκα χάριν ενώπιόν σου, Κύριε, ας έλθη, δέομαι, ο Κύριός μου εν τω μέσω ημών· διότι ο λαός ούτος είναι σκληροτράχηλος· και συγχώρησον την ανομίαν ημών και την αμαρτίαν ημών και λάβε ημάς εις κληρονομίαν σου.

10 And he said—Lo! I, am about to solemnise a covenant, -in presence of all thy people, will I do marvellous things, which have not been created in any part of the earth nor among any of the nations, —so shall all the people in whose midst thou, art see the work of Yahweh for a fearful thing, it is, which I, am doing with thee.

Και είπεν, Ιδού, εγώ κάμνω διαθήκην· έμπροσθεν παντός του λαού σου θέλω κάμει θαυμάσια, οποία δεν έγειναν καθ' όλην την γην και εις ουδέν έθνος· και πας ο λαός, εν μέσω του οποίου είσαι, θέλει ιδεί το έργον του Κυρίου· διότι φοβερόν είναι εκείνο, το οποίον εγώ θέλω κάμει μετά σου.

11 Take thou heed what, I, am commanding thee this day, —behold me! driving out from before thee—the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

Φύλαξον εκείνο, το οποίον εγώ σε προστάζω σήμερον· ιδού, εγώ εκβάλλω απ' έμπροσθέν σου τον Αμορραίον και τον Χαναναίον και τον Χετταίον και τον Φερεζαίον και τον Ευαίον και τον Ιεβουσαίον.

12 Take heed to thyself, Lest thou solemnise a covenant with the inhabitant of the land, whereupon, thou, art about to enter, —Lest he become a snare in thy midst;

Προσέχε εις σεαυτόν, μη κάμης συνθήκην μετά των κατοίκων της γης εις την οποίαν υπάγεις, μήποτε γείνη παγίς εν τω μέσω σου·

13 For their altars, shall ye smash, And their pillars, shall ye shiver, —And their sacred-stems, shall ye fell.

αλλά τους βωμούς αυτών θέλεις καταστρέψει και τα είδωλα αυτών θέλεις συντρίψει και τα άλση αυτών θέλεις κατακόψει.

14 For thou shalt not bow thyself down to another GOD, —For as for Yahweh, Jealous, is his name, A jealous GOD, he is:

Διότι δεν θέλεις προσκυνήσει άλλον θεόν· επειδή ο Κύριος, του οποίου το όνομα είναι Ζηλότυπος, είναι Θεός ζηλότυπος·

15 Lest thou solemnise a covenant with the inhabitant of the land, —And then as surely as they go unchastely after their gods and sacrifice to their gods, So surely will he invite thee, And thou wilt eat of his sacrifice;

μήποτε κάμης συνθήκην μετά των κατοίκων της γης, και όταν πορνεύσωσι κατόπιν των θεών αυτών και θυσιάσωσι προς τους θεούς αυτών, σε προσκαλέση τις και φάγης από της θυσίας αυτού·

16 And thou wilt take of his daughters for thy sons, —And his daughters will go unchastely after their gods, And will cause thy sons to go unchastely after their gods.

και μήποτε λάβης εκ των θυγατέρων αυτού εις τους υιούς σου, και όταν αι θυγατέρες αυτού πορνεύσωσι κατόπιν των θεών αυτών, κάμωσι τους υιούς σου να πορνεύσωσι κατόπιν των θεών αυτών.

17 Molten gods, shalt thou not make to thee.

Θεούς χωνευτούς δεν θέλεις κάμει εις σεαυτόν.

18 The festival of unleavened cakes, shalt thou keep, seven days, shalt thou eat unleavened cakes, which I commanded thee, at the set time, in the month Abib, —for in the month Abib, camest thou forth out of Egypt.

Την εορτήν των αζύμων θέλεις φυλάττει. Επτά ημέρας θέλεις τρώγει άζυμα, καθώς προσέταξα εις σε, κατά τον καιρόν του μηνός Αβίβ· διότι κατά τον μήνα Αβίβ εξήλθες εξ Αιγύπτου.

19 Every one that is the first to be born, is mine, —and every one of thy cattle that is born a male, firstling of oxen or sheep.

Παν το διανοίγον μήτραν είναι ιδικόν μου· και παν πρωτότοκον αρσενικόν μεταξύ των κτηνών σου, είτε βους είτε πρόβατον.

20 But the firstling of an ass, thou mayst redeem with a lamb, and if thou wilt not redeem it, then shalt thou break its neck. Every firstborn of thy sons, shalt thou redeem, and he must not see my face, with empty hand.

Το δε πρωτότοκον της όνου θέλεις εξαγοράζει με αρνίον· και εάν δεν εξαγοράσης αυτό, τότε θέλεις λαιμοτομήσει αυτό. Πάντας τους πρωτοτόκους των υιών σου θέλεις εξαγοράζει. Και ουδείς θέλει φανή ενώπιόν μου κενός.

21 Six days, shalt thou labour, but on the seventh day, shalt thou rest, —in plowing time and in harvest, shalt thou rest.

Εξ ημέρας θέλεις εργάζεσθαι την δε εβδόμην ημέραν θέλεις αναπαύεσθαι κατά τον σπορητόν και κατά τον θερισμόν θέλεις αναπαύεσθαι.

22 And the festival of weeks, shalt thou make to thee, the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, —and the festival of ingathering, at the closing in of the year:

Και θέλεις φυλάττει την εορτήν των εβδομάδων, των απαρχών του θερισμού του σίτου, και την εορτήν της συγκομιδής εις την επιστροφήν του ενιαυτού.

23 three times in the year, shall every one of thy males see the face of the Lord Yahweh the God of Israel.

Τρίς του ενιαυτού θέλει εμφανίζεσθαι παν αρσενικόν σου ενώπιον Κυρίου, Κυρίου του Θεού του Ισραήλ.

24 For I will root out nations from before thee, and will enlarge thy borders, —and no man shall covet thy land, when thou goes up to see the face of Yahweh thy God, three times in the year.

Διότι αφού εκδιώξω τα έθνη απ' έμπροσθέν σου και πλατύνω τα όριά σου, δεν θέλει επιθυμήσει ουδείς την γην σου, όταν αναβαίνης διά να εμφανισθής έμπροσθεν Κυρίου του Θεού σου τρίς του ενιαυτού.

25 Thou shalt not slay, along with anything leavened, the blood of my sacrifice, —neither shall remain to the morning, the sacrifice of the festival of the passover.

Δεν θέλεις προσφέρει το αίμα της θυσίας μου με ένζυμα· και η θυσία της εορτής του πάσχα δεν θέλει μείνει έως το πρωΐ.

26 The beginning of the firstfruits of thy ground, shalt thou bring into the house of Yahweh, thy God, Thou shalt not boil a kid, in the milk of its dam.

Τα πρωτογεννήματα της γης σου θέλεις φέρει εις τον οίκον Κυρίου του Θεού σου. Δεν θέλεις ψήσει ερίφιον εν τω γάλακτι της μητρός αυτού.

27 And Yahweh said unto Moses, Write for thyself these words, for according to the tenor of these words, have I solemnized with thee, a covenant, and with Israel.

Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Γράψον εις σεαυτόν τους λόγους τούτους· διότι κατά τους λόγους τούτους έκαμα διαθήκην προς σε και προς τον Ισραήλ,

28 So then he was there, with Yahweh, forty days and forty nights, bread, did he not eat and, water, did he not drink, and he wrote upon the tables, the words of the covenant, the ten words.

Και ήτο εκεί μετά του Κυρίου τεσσαράκοντα ημέρας και τεσσαράκοντα νύκτας· άρτον δεν έφαγε και ύδωρ δεν έπιε. Και έγραψεν επί των πλακών τους λόγους της διαθήκης, τας δέκα εντολάς.

29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down out of Mount Sinai, with the two tables of testimony in the hand of Moses, when he came down out of the mount, that, Moses, knew not that the skin of his face shone, through his having spoken with him.

Και ότε κατέβαινεν ο Μωϋσής από του όρους Σινά, και αι δύο πλάκες του μαρτυρίου ήσαν εις την χείρα του Μωϋσέως, ότε κατέβαινεν από του όρους, ο Μωϋσής δεν ήξευρεν ότι το δέρμα του προσώπου αυτού έγεινε λαμπρόν ενώ ελάλει μετ' αυτού.

30 And Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, and lo! the skin of his face shone, and they stood in awe of drawing nigh unto him.

Και είδεν ο Ααρών και πάντες οι υιοί Ισραήλ τον Μωϋσήν, και ιδού, το δέρμα του προσώπου αυτού έλαμπε· και εφοβήθησαν να πλησιάσωσιν εις αυτόν.

31 So then Moses called unto them, and Aaron and all the princes in the assembly returned unto him, —and Moses spake unto them.

Και εκάλεσεν αυτούς ο Μωϋσής· και επεστράφησαν προς αυτόν ο Ααρών και πάντες οι άρχοντες της συναγωγής, και ελάλησε προς αυτούς ο Μωϋσής.

32 And afterwards, came nigh, all the sons of Israel, and he gave them in commandment all that Yahweh had spoken with him in Mount Sinai.

Και μετά ταύτα πάντες οι υιοί Ισραήλ προσήλθον· και προσέταξεν εις αυτούς πάντα όσα ελάλησεν ο Κύριος προς αυτόν επί του όρους Σινά.

33 And when Moses had made an end of speaking with them, he put over his face a veil:

Και ετελείωσεν ο Μωϋσής λαλών προς αυτούς· είχε δε κάλυμμα επί το πρόσωπον αυτού.

34 but, as often as Moses went in before Yahweh to speak with him, he put aside the veil until he came out, —and, as often as he came out and spake unto the sons of Israel, that which he had been commanded,

Και ότε εισήρχετο ο Μωϋσής ενώπιον του Κυρίου διά να λαλήση μετ' αυτού, εσήκονε το κάλυμμα, εωσού εξέλθη. Και εξήρχετο και ελάλει προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ ό, τι ήτο προστεταγμένος.

35 the sons of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses face shone, —so Moses again put the veil over his face, until he went in to speak with him.

Και είδον οι υιοί Ισραήλ το πρόσωπον του Μωϋσέως, ότι το δέρμα του προσώπου του Μωϋσέως έλαμπε· και έβαλλε πάλιν ο Μωϋσής το κάλυμμα επί το πρόσωπον αυτού, εωσού εισέλθη διά να λαλήση μετ' αυτού.
