Esther 6
1 During that night, the sleep of the king fled, —and he commanded to bring in the book of remembrance, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.
Εν εκείνη τη νυκτί ο ύπνος έφυγεν από του βασιλέως· και προσέταξε να φέρωσι το βιβλίον των υπομνημάτων των χρονικών· και ανεγινώσκοντο ενώπιον του βασιλέως.
2 And it was found written, how that Mordecai had told concerning Bigthana and Teresh, the two eunuchs of the king guarding the threshold, —who had sought to thrust forth a hand upon King Ahasuerus.
Και ευρέθη γεγραμμένον ότι ο Μαροδοχαίος απήγγειλε περί του Βιχθάν και Θερές, δύο εκ των ευνούχων του βασιλέως, θυρωρών, οίτινες εζήτησαν να επιβάλωσι χείρα επί τον βασιλέα Ασσουήρην.
3 Then said the king, What honour and dignity hath been done unto Mordecai, for this? Then said the king’s young men, who were ministering unto him, Nothing hath been done for him.
Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς, Ποία τιμή και αξιοπρέπεια έγεινεν εις τον Μαροδοχαίον διά τούτο; Και είπον οι δούλοι του βασιλέως οι υπηρετούντες αυτόν, Δεν έγεινεν ουδέν εις αυτόν.
4 Then said the king, Who is in the court? Now, Haman, had come into the outer court of the kings house, to speak unto the king, to hang Mordecai, upon the gallows which he had prepared for him.
Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς, Τις είναι εν τη αυλή; είχε δε ελθεί ο Αμάν εις την εξωτέραν αυλήν του βασιλικού οίκου, διά να είπη προς τον βασιλέα να κρεμάση τον Μαροδοχαίον εις το ξύλον το οποίον ητοίμασε δι' αυτόν.
5 So the king’s young men said unto him, Lo! Haman, standing in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
Και είπον προς αυτόν οι δούλοι του βασιλέως, Ιδού, ο Αμάν ίσταται εν τη αυλή. Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς, Ας εισέλθη.
6 So Haman came in, and the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man in whose honour, the king delighteth? Then said Haman, in his own heart, Unto whom will the king delight to do honour, more than unto me?
Και ότε εισήλθεν ο Αμάν, είπε προς αυτόν ο βασιλεύς, Τι πρέπει να γείνη εις τον άνθρωπον, τον οποίον ευαρεστείται ο βασιλεύς να τιμήση; Ο δε Αμάν εστοχάσθη εν τη καρδία αυτού, εις ποίον άλλον ο βασιλεύς ήθελεν ευαρεστηθή να κάμη τιμήν, παρά εις εμέ;
7 So Haman said unto the king, —As touching the man in whose honour, the king, delighteth,
Απεκρίθη λοιπόν ο Αμάν προς τον βασιλέα, Περί του ανθρώπου, τον οποίον ο βασιλεύς ευαρεστείται να τιμήση,
8 let them bring in royal apparel wherewith the king hath clothed himself, —and the horse whereon the king hath ridden, and the royal crown which hath been set upon his own head;
ας φέρωσι την βασιλικήν στολήν, την οποίαν ο βασιλεύς ενδύεται, και τον ίππον επί του οποίου ο βασιλεύς ιππεύει, και να τεθή το βασιλικόν διάδημα επί της κεφαλής αυτού·
9 and let the apparel and the horse be delivered unto the hand of one of the king’s rulers, one of the nobles, and so let them array the man, in whose honour, the king, delighteth, —and cause him to ride upon the horse through the broadway of the city, and let them proclaim before him, Thus and thus, shall it be done unto the man in whose honour, the king, delighteth!
και η στολή αύτη και ο ίππος ας δοθώσιν εις την χείρα τινός εκ των μεγαλητέρων αρχόντων του βασιλέως, διά να στολίση τον άνθρωπον τον οποίον ο βασιλεύς ευαρεστείται να τιμήση· και φέρων αυτόν έφιππον διά των οδών της πόλεως ας κηρύττη έμπροσθεν αυτού, ούτω θέλει γίνεσθαι εις τον άνθρωπον, τον οποίον ο βασιλεύς ευαρεστείται να τιμήση.
10 Then said the king unto Haman, Haste, take the apparel and the horse, just as thou hast said, and do even so unto Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting in the kings gate, —do not let fail a thing, of all which thou hast spoken!
Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς προς τον Αμάν, Σπεύσον, λάβε την στολήν και τον ίππον, ως είπας, και κάμε ούτως εις τον Μαροδοχαίον τον Ιουδαίον τον καθήμενον εν τη βασιλική πύλη· ας μη λείψη μηδέν εκ πάντων όσα είπας.
11 So Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, —and caused him to ride through the broadway of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus and thus, shall it be done unto the man in whoso honour, the king, delighteth!
Και έλαβεν ο Αμάν την στολήν και τον ίππον, και εστόλισε τον Μαροδοχαίον και έφερεν αυτόν έφιππον διά των οδών της πόλεως, κηρύττων έμπροσθεν αυτού, ούτω θέλει γίνεσθαι εις τον άνθρωπον, τον οποίον ο βασιλεύς ευαρεστείται να τιμήση.
12 Then Mordecai returned unto the gate of the king, —but, Haman, hurried unto his own house, mourning, and with covered head.
Και επανήλθεν ο Μαροδοχαίος εις την πύλην του βασιλέως· ο δε Αμάν έσπευσε προς τον οίκον αυτού περίλυπος και έχων την κεφαλήν αυτού κεκαλυμμένην.
13 And Haman recounted unto Zeresh his wife, and unto all his friends, everything that had befallen him. Then said his wise men, and Zeresh his wife, unto him, If, of the seed of the Jews, is Mordecai before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt, utterly fall, before him.
Και διηγήθη ο Αμάν προς Ζερές την γυναίκα αυτού και προς πάντας τους φίλους αυτού παν ό, τι συνέβη εις αυτόν. Και είπον προς αυτόν οι σοφοί αυτού και Ζερές η γυνή αυτού, Εάν ο Μαροδοχαίος, έμπροσθεν του οποίου ήρχισας να εκπίπτης, ήναι εκ του σπέρματος των Ιουδαίων, δεν θέλεις κατισχύσει εναντίον αυτού, αλλ' εξάπαντος θέλεις πέσει έμπροσθεν αυτού.
14 While yet they were speaking with him, the eunuchs of the king, had come, —and they hastened to bring Haman, unto the banquet which Esther had prepared.
Ενώ ελάλουν έτι μετ' αυτού, έφθασαν οι ευνούχοι του βασιλέως και έσπευσαν να φέρωσι τον Αμάν εις το συμπόσιον, το οποίον ητοίμασεν η Εσθήρ.
