Deuteronomy 7
1 When Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land which thou art going in to possess, and shall clear away many nations from before thee—the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites, and the Canaanites and the Perizzites, and the Hivites and the Jebusites—seven nations greater in number and stronger than thou;
När Herren din Gud förer dig in uti det land, der du inkomma skall, till att intaga det, och nederlägger mycket folk för dig; de Hetheer, Girgaseer, Amoreer, Cananeer, Pheriseer, Heveer och Jebuseer, sjuhanda folk, de som större äro och mägtigare än du;
2 and Yahweh thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them, thou shalt devote them to destruction, thou shalt not solemnise with them a covenant neither shalt thou shew them favour;
Och när Herren din Gud gifver dem för dig, att du slår dem, så skall du gifva dem tillspillo, och intet förbund med dem göra, eller någon gunst bevisa dem;
3 neither shalt thou intermarry with them, —thy daughter, shalt thou not give unto his son, nor his daughter, shalt thou take for thy son;
Och skall intet befrynda dig med dem; edra döttrar skall du icke gifva deras söner, och deras döttrar skolen I icke taga edrom sönom;
4 for he will turn aside thy son from following me, and they will serve other gods, —so shall the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you, and he will destroy thee, speedily.
Förty de varda dragande edra söner ifrå mig, så att de tjena andra gudar; så varder då Herrans vrede förgrymmandes sig öfver eder, och snarliga förgör eder;
5 Verily, thus, shall ye do unto them: Their altars, shall ye tear down, And their pillars, shall ye break in pieces, —And their sacred stems, shall ye hew down, And their carved images, shall ye burn up in the fire.
Utan alltså skolen I göra med dem: Deras altare skolen I nederrifva, deras stodar nederbryta, deras lundar afhugga, och deras afgudar uppbränna med elde.
6 For a holy people, art thou unto Yahweh thy God: of thee, hath Yahweh thy God, made choice, that thou shouldest become his people as a treasure, above all the peoples that are on the face of the ground:
Ty du äst ett heligt folk Herranom dinom Gud; dig hafver Herren din Gud utvalt till att du skall vara hans eget folk, utaf all de folk som på jordene äro.
7 not because ye were more in number than any of the peoples, did Yahweh become attached to you and make choice of you, —for, ye, were fewer than any of the peoples;
Icke hafver Herren upptagit och utvalt eder derföre, att I större på talet ären än annat folk; ty du äst minst i all folk;
8 but because Yahweh loved you and because he would keep the oath which he sware unto your fathers, did Yahweh bring you forth with a firm hand, —and redeem thee out of the house of servants, out of the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Utan derföre, att Herren älskade eder, och att han skulle hålla sin ed, som han edra fäder svorit hade, hafver Herren utfört eder med mägtiga hand; och hafver frälst dig utu träldomens hus, utu Pharaos hand, Konungens i Egypten.
9 So then, thou must know that, Yahweh thy God, he, is God, —the faithful GOD, keeping his covenant and his lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations
Så skall du nu veta, att Herren din Gud är en Gud, en trofast Gud, hållandes förbund och barmhertighet dem som älska honom, och hålla hans bud, i tusende leder;
10 but requiting them who hate him unto his face to destroy them, —he will not be slack towards him that hateth him, unto his face, will he requite him.
Och vedergäller dem som hata honom, för sitt ansigte, så att han förgör dem; och skall icke fördröjat, att han dem vedergäller för sitt ansigte, som hata honom.
11 So shalt thou keep the commandment and the statutes and the regulations, which I am commanding thee to-day, to do them.
Så behåll nu de bud, och lag, och rätter, som jag dig bjuder i denna dag, att du gör derefter.
12 Then shall it come to pass if ye will hearken unto these regulations, and keep and do them, then will Yahweh thy God keep with thee the covenant and the lovingkindness which he sware unto thy fathers;
Och när I dessa rätter hören, och hållen dem, och gören derefter, så varder Herren din Gud ock hållandes det förbund och barmhertighet, som han dina fäder svorit hafver.
13 and will love thee, and bless thee and multiply thee, —and bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground thy corn and thy new wine and thine oil the young of thy kine and the ewes of thy flock, upon the soil which he swart unto thy fathers to give unto thee.
Han skall älska dig, välsigna och föröka; och skall välsigna dins lifs frukt, och dins lands frukt, dina säd, vin och oljo, fruktena af dina kor, och fruktena af din får, på landet, som han dina fäder svorit hafver att gifva dig.
14 Blessed shalt thou be beyond all the peoples, —there shall not be in thee a barren male or female, nor among thy cattle;
Välsignad varder du utöfver all folk; ingen ibland dig skall vara ofruktsam, ej heller ibland din boskap.
15 and Yahweh, will turn away, from thee, all disease, —and as for all the sore sicknesses of Egypt which thou knowest, he will not lay them upon thee, but will put them upon all who hate thee;
Herren skall taga ifrå dig all krankhet, och skall icke kasta dig någon de Egyptiers onda sjukdom uppå, hvilka du förnummit hafver; men han skall kasta dem på alla dem som dig hata.
16 and thou shalt devour all the peoples whom, Yahweh thy God, is delivering up unto thee, thine eye shall not look with pity upon them, neither shalt thou serve their gods, for a snare, would it be unto thee.
Du skall uppfräta allt det folk, som Herren din Gud dig gifvandes varder; du skall icke skona dem, och icke tjena deras gudar; ty det vorde dig till en snaro.
17 Although thou mightest say in thy heart: More in number, are these nations than I, —how can, I dispossess them?
Om du säger i ditt hjerta: Detta folk är mer än jag; huru kan jag fördrifva dem?
18 thou must not be afraid of them, —thou must, remember, what Yahweh thy God did, unto Pharaoh and unto all Egypt:
Så frukta dig intet för dem; tänk uppå hvad Herren din Gud gjorde Pharao, och alla Egyptier;
19 the great provings which thine own eyes saw, and the signs and the wonders and the firm hand and the stretched-out arm, wherewith Yahweh thy God brought thee forth, —so, will Yahweh thy God do unto all the peoples, before whom thou art afraid.
Med stor försökelse, som du med ögonen sett hafver, och med tecken och under, och genom mägtiga hand och uträcktom arm, med hvilko Herren din Gud dig utförde. Alltså skall Herren din Gud göra allom folkom, som du fruktar före.
20 Moreover also, the hornet, will Yahweh thy God send among them, —until they are destroyed who are left remaining, and who are hiding themselves from thy face.
Dertill skall Herren din Gud sända ibland dem getingar, intilldess förgjordt varder hvad som qvart är, och sig för dig förgömmer.
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at their presence, —for Yahweh thy God in thy midst is a Go great and to be revered.
Grufva dig intet för dem; ty Herren din Gud är ibland dig, den store och förfärlige Guden.
22 So will Yahweh thy God, clear away these nations from before thee little by little, —thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the wild beast of the field should multiply ever thee.
Han, Herren din Gud, skall utrota dessa folken för dig, med tiden, det ena efter det andra; du kan icke hastigt förgöra dem, på det att djuren icke skola förökas emot dig på markene.
23 But Yahweh thy God will deliver them up before thee, —and discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they are destroyed;
Herren din Gud skall gifva dem för dig, och skall slå dem med stort slag, intilldess han förgör dem;
24 and will deliver their kings into thy hand and thou shalt destroy their name, from under the heavens, —not a man shall stand before thee, until thou hast destroyed them.
Och skall gifva deras Konungar i dina händer, och du skall förgöra deras namn under himmelen; ingen skall kunna dig emotstå, tilldess du förgör dem.
25 The carved images of their gods, shalt thou consume with fire, —thou shalt not covet the silver and gold upon them to take unto thee, lest thou be ensnared thereby; for the abomination of Yahweh thy God, it is;
Deras afgudars beläte skall du bränna upp i elde; och skall intet begära utaf silfret eller guldet, som deruppå är, eller taga det till dig, på det att du icke skall förtaga dig derutinnan: ty sådant är Herranom dinom Gud en styggelse.
26 and thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and so become devoted to destruction, like it, thou shalt, abhor, it, and thou shalt, loathe it, because a thing devoted to destruction, it is.
Derföre skall du icke föra den styggelsen in uti ditt hus, att du icke varder tillspillogifven, såsom ock det är; utan du skall hafva en vämjelse och styggelse dervid; ty det är tillspillogifvet.
