Deuteronomy 3
1 Then turned we and went up, the way of Bashan; and Og king of Bashan, came out to meet us, he, and all his people, to give battle at Edrei.
“Sau đó, chúng ta quay qua bắt đường Ba-san đi lên. Vua Ba-san là Óc đem toàn lực ra nghênh chiến chúng ta tại Ết-rê-i.
2 And Yahweh said unto me: Do not fear him, for into thy hand, have I delivered him and all his people and his land, —so then thou shalt do unto him, as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites who was dwelling in Heshbon.
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán cùng tôi: ‘Đừng sợ vua ấy, Ta nạp cả vua, dân, lẫn đất này vào tay các ngươi, các ngươi sẽ xử họ như xử Vua Si-hôn của A-mô-rít, ở Hết-bôn.’
3 Then did Yahweh our God deliver into our hand, Og also, king of Bashan and all his people, —so we smote him until there was not left remaining to him a survivor.
Vậy, Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta đã phó Vua Óc và toàn quân của vua vào tay chúng ta, và chúng ta đã đánh bại, không để ai sống sót.
4 And we captured all his cities, at that time, there was no fortress which we took not from them, —sixty cities all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Chúng ta chiếm trọn sáu mươi thành trong toàn vùng Ạt-gốp, đất Ba-san.
5 All these, were fortified cities each with a high wall, folding gates and a bar, —besides country towns exceeding many.
Đó là những thành kiên cố, có lũy cao, cổng chấn song. Ngoài ra, chúng ta còn chiếm nhiều thôn ấp không có thành lũy bao bọc.
6 And we devoted them to destruction, doing unto them as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, —devoting to destruction every city of males, the women, and the little ones.
Chúng ta tiêu diệt Ba-san hoàn toàn, cũng như tiêu diệt Vua Si-hôn của Hết-bôn, hạ thành, giết hết nam phụ lão ấu.
7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, made we our prey.
Chỉ còn lại bầy gia súc và các chiến lợi phẩm đoạt được.
8 Thus did we at that time take the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites (which was over the Jordan), —from the ravine of Arnon as far as Mount Hermon.
Như vậy, chúng ta chiếm hết đất của hai vua A-mô-rít, bên bờ phía đông Sông Giô-đan, từ Khe Ạt-nôn đến Núi Hẹt-môn.
9 Sidonians, call Hermon Sirion, —but, the Amorites, call it Senir.
(Người Si-đôn gọi Núi Hẹt-môn là Si-ri-ôn, còn người A-mô-rít gọi là Sê-nia.)
10 All the cities of the table-land, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, —unto Salecah, and Edrei, —cities of the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.
Tất cả các thành miền cao nguyên, miền Ga-la-át, miền Ba-san, cho đến hai thành của Vua Óc là Sanh-ca và Ết-rê-i.
11 For, only Og, king of Bashan was left remaining of the remnant of the giants, lo! his bedstead, was a bedstead of iron, is not, the same, in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? nine cubits, the length thereof and four cubits, the breadth thereof, by the fore-arm of a man.
(Óc, vua Ba-san, là người Rê-pha-im sống sót sau cùng. Giường của vua này bằng sắt dài 4,1 mét, rộng 1,8 mét, nay còn tại Ráp-ba, một thành của người Am-môn.)”
12 And this land, took we in possession at that time, —from Aroer which is by the ravine of Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites;
“Lúc ấy, tôi chia một phần đất vừa chiếm được cho hai đại tộc Ru-bên và Gát, từ A-rô-e bên Khe Ạt-nôn, và phân nửa núi Ga-la-át với các thành thị trong ấy.
13 but the remainder of Gilead, and all Bashan the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh, —all the region of the Argob with all Bashan. The same, is called, A land of giants.
Phần còn lại gồm phân nửa kia của núi Ga-la-át, và toàn lãnh thổ Ba-san của Óc, tức là vùng Ạt-gốp, tôi đem chia cho phân nửa đại tộc Ma-na-se. (Toàn vùng Ba-san trước kia còn được gọi là đất của người Rê-pha-im.
14 Jair, son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob, as far as the boundary of the Geshurites, and the Maachathites, —and called them after his own name The Bashan of Havvoth-jair unto this day.
Giai-rơ thuộc đại tộc Ma-na-se chiếm toàn vùng Ạt-gốp tức Ba-san; vùng này chạy dài đến biên giới đất Ghê-sua và Ma-ca-thít. Ông đặt tên vùng này là Thôn Giai-rơ, tên này vẫn còn cho đến ngày nay.)
15 And, unto Machir, gave I Gilead;
Tôi cũng chia đất Ga-la-át cho Ma-ki.
16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites, gave I—from Gilead even as far as the ravine of Arnon, the middle of the ravine and boundary, —even as far as the Jabbok ravine, the boundary of the sons of Ammon;
Hai đại tộc Ru-bên và Gát nhận phần đất Ga-la-át; ranh giới hai bên là Khe Ạt-nôn và Sông Gia-bốc, sông này cũng là biên giới đất Am-môn.
17 the Waste Plain also and the Jordan and boundary, —from Chinnereth, even as far as the sea of the Waste Plain the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah, on the east.
Họ cũng nhận đất A-ra-ba với Sông Giô-đan làm giới hạn, từ Ki-nê-rết cho tới Biển A-ra-ba tức Biển Chết, dưới triền phía đông của núi Phích-ga.
18 So I commanded you, at that time saying, —Yahweh your God hath given unto you this land to possess it, armed, shall ye pass over before your brethren the sons of Israel all the sons of valour,
Lúc ấy, tôi có dặn: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu, là Đức Chúa Trời, đã cho anh em đất này, nhưng tất cả chiến sĩ của anh em phải qua sông, đi tiên phong chiến đấu cho tất cả các đại tộc khác.
19 Only, your wives and your little ones and your cattle—I know that ye have much cattle—shall abide in your cities which I have given unto you;
Riêng vợ con và bầy gia súc của anh em sẽ ở lại trong các thành vừa nhận được, vì anh em có nhiều gia súc.
20 until that Yahweh shall give rest unto your brethren, as well as you, so shall, they too, possess the land which, Yahweh your God, is giving unto them, over the Jordan, —then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given unto you.
Anh em chỉ trở về khi nào Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, đã cho các đại tộc khác chiếm đóng đất đai bên kia Sông Giô-đan!’”
21 Joshua also, commanded I, at that time saying, —Thine are the eyes, that have seen all that Yahweh your God hath done unto these two kings, thus, will Yahweh do unto all the kingdoms whereunto thou, art passing over:
“Sau đó, tôi bảo Giô-suê: ‘Anh đã thấy điều Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh, làm cho hai vua ấy. Ngài cũng sẽ xử các vua khác ở bên kia sông như vậy.
22 ye shall not fear them, —for, Yahweh your God, he, it is that is fighting for you.
Đừng sợ họ, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh, sẽ chiến đấu cho anh.’
23 Then sought I Yahweh at that time, for a favour saying:
Và lúc ấy, tôi cầu khẩn Chúa Hằng Hữu:
24 My Lord Yahweh, thou thyself, hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy firm hand, —as to which, what GOD is there, in the heavens or in the earth, that can do according to thy doings, and according to thy mighty deeds?
‘Thưa Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời, Chúa bắt đầu cho con thấy tính cách cao cả và sức mạnh phi thường của Chúa. Vì dù trên trời hay dưới đất, có thần nào uy dũng như Chúa, làm được các việc Chúa làm?
25 Let me pass over, I pray thee that I may see the good land that is over the Jordan, —this good mountain, and the Lebanon.
Xin Chúa cho con qua sông Giô-đan để tận mắt ngắm nhìn đất đai phì nhiêu, núi đồi hùng vĩ, và cả dãy núi Li-ban.’
26 But Yahweh had been provoked with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me, Enough for thee! do not add a word unto me further in this matter.
Nhưng vì lỗi anh em, nên Chúa Hằng Hữu giận, không chấp nhận lời tôi xin. Ngài phán: ‘Đủ rồi! Đừng nhắc đến việc này nữa.
27 Ascend the top of the Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes—westward, and northward and southward and eastward—and see with thine own eyes, —for thou shalt not pass over this Jordan.
Nhưng cứ leo lên Đỉnh Phích-ga để chiêm ngưỡng đất hứa, vì trên ấy, con có thể nhìn khắp nơi khắp hướng, không cần phải qua Sông Giô-đan.
28 But command thou Joshua and confirm him and embolden him, —for, he, shall pass over before this people, and, he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.
Khi truyền giao chức vụ, con nên dùng lời khích lệ, củng cố tinh thần Giô-suê, vì Giô-suê sẽ dẫn dân chúng qua sông, chiếm lấy đất con được ngắm nhìn.’
29 So we abode in the valley, over against Beth-peor.
Rồi, chúng ta ở lại trong thung lũng đối diện Bết Phê-o.”
