< Deuteronomy 3 >

1 Then turned we and went up, the way of Bashan; and Og king of Bashan, came out to meet us, he, and all his people, to give battle at Edrei.
Kenaka tinakhota ndi kumayenda mokwera mtunda ndi njira yolowera ku Basani. Ndipo Ogi mfumu ya ku Basani ndi gulu lake lonse lankhondo anakumana nafe ndipo anamenyana nafe ku Ederi.
2 And Yahweh said unto me: Do not fear him, for into thy hand, have I delivered him and all his people and his land, —so then thou shalt do unto him, as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites who was dwelling in Heshbon.
Yehova anati kwa ine, “Usachite naye mantha pakuti ndamupereka mʼmanja mwako pamodzi ndi gulu lake lonse lankhondo ndi dziko lake lomwe. Ndipo uchite kwa iye zimene unachita Sihoni mfumu ya Aamori, amene ankalamulira ku Hesiboni.”
3 Then did Yahweh our God deliver into our hand, Og also, king of Bashan and all his people, —so we smote him until there was not left remaining to him a survivor.
Choncho Yehova Mulungu wathu anapereka mʼmanja mwathu Ogi mfumu ya ku Basani ndi gulu lake lonse lankhondo. Tinawakantha onsewo osasiya ndi mmodzi yemwe.
4 And we captured all his cities, at that time, there was no fortress which we took not from them, —sixty cities all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Pa nthawi imeneyo tinatenga mizinda yake yonse. Pa mizinda 60, panalibe ndi umodzi womwe umene sitinawalande, mʼdera lonse la ufumu wa Ogi ku Basani chimene ndi chigawo cha Arigobu.
5 All these, were fortified cities each with a high wall, folding gates and a bar, —besides country towns exceeding many.
Mizinda yonseyi inali yotetezedwa ndi malinga ataliatali wokhala ndi zitseko ndi zitsulo, komabe panali midzi ina yambiri imene inalibe malinga.
6 And we devoted them to destruction, doing unto them as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, —devoting to destruction every city of males, the women, and the little ones.
Tinawawonongeratu monga momwe tinachitira Sihoni, mfumu ya ku Hesiboni. Tinawononga mzinda uliwonse, amayi, amuna ndi ana omwe.
7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, made we our prey.
Koma tinafunkha ziweto ndi katundu wawo yense.
8 Thus did we at that time take the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites (which was over the Jordan), —from the ravine of Arnon as far as Mount Hermon.
Choncho pa nthawi imeneyi tinalanda kwa mafumu awiri Aamori, dera la kummawa kwa Yorodani, kuyambira ku khwawa la Arinoni mpaka ku Phiri la Herimoni.
9 Sidonians, call Hermon Sirion, —but, the Amorites, call it Senir.
(Asidoni amatcha Herimoni kuti Siriyoni, pamene Aamori amalitcha Seniri).
10 All the cities of the table-land, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, —unto Salecah, and Edrei, —cities of the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.
Tinalanda mizinda yonse ya ku mapiri, ku Giliyadi, Basani mpaka ku Saleka ndi Ederi, mizinda ya mu ufumu wa Ogi wa ku Basani.
11 For, only Og, king of Bashan was left remaining of the remnant of the giants, lo! his bedstead, was a bedstead of iron, is not, the same, in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? nine cubits, the length thereof and four cubits, the breadth thereof, by the fore-arm of a man.
(Ogi, mfumu ya ku Basani, anali yekhayo amene anatsala mwa mtundu wa anthu ataliatali a Chirefai. Bedi lake linali lachitsulo ndipo lalitali kuposa mamita anayi. Mulifupi mwake munali mamita awiri. Bedilo likanalipo ku Raba kwa Aamori).
12 And this land, took we in possession at that time, —from Aroer which is by the ravine of Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites;
13 but the remainder of Gilead, and all Bashan the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh, —all the region of the Argob with all Bashan. The same, is called, A land of giants.
14 Jair, son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob, as far as the boundary of the Geshurites, and the Maachathites, —and called them after his own name The Bashan of Havvoth-jair unto this day.
Yairi, mdzukulu wa Manase, anatenga chigawo chonse cha Arigobu mpaka ku malire a Agesuri ndi Amaakati. Anatcha chigawochi dzina lake, moti mpaka lero Basani amatchedwa Havoti Yairi).
15 And, unto Machir, gave I Gilead;
Ndipo ndinapereka Giliyadi kwa Makiri.
16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites, gave I—from Gilead even as far as the ravine of Arnon, the middle of the ravine and boundary, —even as far as the Jabbok ravine, the boundary of the sons of Ammon;
Koma kwa fuko la Rubeni ndi fuko la Gadi ndinapereka chigawo chochokera ku Giliyadi kutsetsereka mpaka ku khwawa la Arinoni (pakati pa khwawalo ndiye panali malire) ndi kupitirira mpaka ku mtsinje wa Yaboki umene ndi malire Aamoni.
17 the Waste Plain also and the Jordan and boundary, —from Chinnereth, even as far as the sea of the Waste Plain the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah, on the east.
Malire ake a chakumadzulo anali Yorodani ku Araba, kuchokera ku Kinereti mpaka ku Nyanja ya Araba (Nyanja ya Mchere), mʼmunsi mwa matsitso a Pisiga.
18 So I commanded you, at that time saying, —Yahweh your God hath given unto you this land to possess it, armed, shall ye pass over before your brethren the sons of Israel all the sons of valour,
Ndinakulamulirani nthawi imene ija kuti, “Yehova Mulungu wanu wakupatsani dziko ili kuti likhale lanu. Koma amuna amphamvu onse ali ndi zida zankhondo, awoloke kutsogolera abale anu Aisraeli.
19 Only, your wives and your little ones and your cattle—I know that ye have much cattle—shall abide in your cities which I have given unto you;
Koma akazi anu, ana anu ndi ziweto zanu (ndikudziwa kuti muli ndi ziweto zambiri) zikhoza kumakhalabe mʼmizinda imene ndakupatsani,
20 until that Yahweh shall give rest unto your brethren, as well as you, so shall, they too, possess the land which, Yahweh your God, is giving unto them, over the Jordan, —then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given unto you.
mpaka Yehova atapereka mpumulo kwa abale anu, nawonso atatenga dziko limene Yehova Mulungu wanu akuwapatsa patsidya pa Yorodani, monga wachitira ndi inu. Kenaka, aliyense wa inu akhoza kudzabwerera ku dziko limene ndinakupatsani.”
21 Joshua also, commanded I, at that time saying, —Thine are the eyes, that have seen all that Yahweh your God hath done unto these two kings, thus, will Yahweh do unto all the kingdoms whereunto thou, art passing over:
Nthawi imeneyo ndinamulamula Yoswa kuti, “Waona wekha ndi maso ako zonse zimene Yehova Mulungu wako anachitira mafumu awiriwa. Yehova adzachita zomwezo ndi mafumu ena onse kumene mukupitako.
22 ye shall not fear them, —for, Yahweh your God, he, it is that is fighting for you.
Musawaope chifukwa Yehova Mulungu mwini adzakumenyerani nkhondo.”
23 Then sought I Yahweh at that time, for a favour saying:
Nthawi imeneyo ndinachonderera Yehova kuti,
24 My Lord Yahweh, thou thyself, hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy firm hand, —as to which, what GOD is there, in the heavens or in the earth, that can do according to thy doings, and according to thy mighty deeds?
“Ambuye Mulungu, mwayamba tsopano kuonetsa mtumiki wanu ukulu wanu ndi dzanja lanu lamphamvu. Ndi mulungu uti ali kumwamba kapena pa dziko lapansi amene angachite ntchito zozizwitsa zimene mumachita?
25 Let me pass over, I pray thee that I may see the good land that is over the Jordan, —this good mountain, and the Lebanon.
Mundilole ndipite ndi kukaona dziko labwinolo kutsidya kwa Yorodani dziko la mapiri abwinowo ndi Lebanoni.”
26 But Yahweh had been provoked with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me, Enough for thee! do not add a word unto me further in this matter.
Koma chifukwa cha inu, Yehova anakwiya nane osandimvera. Yehova anati, “Basi pakwana, usayankhulenso ndi ine zimenezi.
27 Ascend the top of the Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes—westward, and northward and southward and eastward—and see with thine own eyes, —for thou shalt not pass over this Jordan.
Pita pamwamba pa phiri la Pisiga ndipo uyangʼane kumadzulo, kumpoto, kummwera ndi kummawa. Ulione dzikolo ndi maso ako pakuti suwoloka Yorodaniyu.
28 But command thou Joshua and confirm him and embolden him, —for, he, shall pass over before this people, and, he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.
Koma langiza Yoswa ndipo umulimbikitse ndi kumupatsa mphamvu pakuti adzatsogolera anthu awa kuwoloka ndipo adzawathandiza kuti atenge dziko limene ulioneli.”
29 So we abode in the valley, over against Beth-peor.
Ndipo tinakhala mʼchigwa pafupi ndi Beti-Peori.
