Deuteronomy 21
1 When there shall be found one slain on the soil which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee to possess, lying prostrate in the field, —it not being known who smote him,
Εάν τις ευρεθή πεφονευμένος εν τη γη, την οποίαν Κύριος ο Θεός σου δίδει εις σε διά να κληρονομήσης αυτήν, πεσμένος εις την πεδιάδα, και ήναι άγνωστον τις εφόνευσεν αυτόν,
2 then shall thine elders and thy judges go forth, —and measure unto the cities that are round about the slain;
τότε θέλουσιν εξέλθει οι πρεσβύτεροί σου και οι κριταί σου, και θέλουσι μετρήσει προς τας πόλεις τας πέριξ του πεφονευμένου·
3 and it shall be that the city that is nearest unto the slain, the elders of that city shall take a heifer of the herd which hath not been wrought with, which hath not drawn in a yoke;
και της πόλεως, ήτις είναι η πλησιεστέρα εις τον πεφονευμένον, οι πρεσβύτεροι της πόλεως εκείνης θέλουσι λάβει δάμαλιν, ήτις δεν υπεβλήθη εις εργασίαν ουδέ έσυρεν υπό τον ζυγόν·
4 and the elders of that city shall take down the heifer into a ravine with an everflowing stream, which is neither tilled nor sown, —and shall behead there the heifer in the ravine.
και θέλουσι καταβιβάσει οι πρεσβύτεροι της πόλεως εκείνης την δάμαλιν εις τραχείαν φάραγγα, ήτις ούτε γεωργείται ούτε σπείρεται και εκεί εν τη φάραγγι θέλουσι κόψει τον τράχηλον της δαμάλεως.
5 Then shall the priests the sons of Levi come near, for of them, hath Yahweh thy God made choice to wait upon him, and to bless in the name of Yahweh, —and at their bidding, shall be settled every controversy and every punishment;
Και θέλουσι πλησιάσει οι ιερείς οι υιοί του Λευΐ· επειδή αυτούς εξέλεξε Κύριος ο Θεός σου να λειτουργώσιν εις αυτόν, και να ευλογώσιν εν τω ονόματι του Κυρίου· και κατά τον λόγον αυτών θέλει κρίνεσθαι πάσα διαφορά και πάσα πληγή·
6 and, all the elders of that city who are nearest unto the slain, shall bathe their hands over the heifer that hath been beheaded in the ravine,
και πάντες οι πρεσβύτεροι της πόλεως εκείνης, της πλησιεστέρας εις τον πεφονευμένον, θέλουσι νίψει τας χείρας αυτών επί της δαμάλεως της εσφαγμένης εν τη φάραγγι·
7 and shall respond, and say, —Our hands, shed not this blood, neither did, our eyes, see [the deed].
και αποκριθέντες θέλουσιν ειπεί, Αι χείρες ημών δεν έχυσαν το αίμα τούτο, ουδέ είδον οι οφθαλμοί ημών·
8 Be propitious unto thy people Israel whom thou hast redeemed, O Yahweh, and do not impute innocent blood in the midst of thy people Israel. So shall they obtain propitiation for the guilt of shedding blood.
γενού ίλεως, Κύριε, εις τον λαόν σου τον Ισραήλ, τον οποίον ελύτρωσας, και μη βάλης επί τον λαόν σου Ισραήλ αίμα αθώον· και θέλει συγχωρηθή εις αυτούς το αίμα.
9 Thou, therefore shalt consume the guilt of shedding innocent blood out of thy midst, —when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh.
Ούτω θέλεις εξαλείψει εκ μέσου σου το αθώον αίμα, όταν κάμης το αρεστόν εις τους οφθαλμούς του Κυρίου.
10 When thou shalt go forth to war against thine enemies, —and Yahweh thy God shall deliver them into thy hand and thou shalt take them captive;
Όταν εξέλθης να πολεμήσης τους εχθρούς σου, και Κύριος ο Θεός σου παραδώση αυτούς εις τας χείρας σου, και λάβης εξ αυτών αιχμαλώτους,
11 and shalt see among the captives a woman of beautiful figure, —and shalt have a desire unto her, and wouldest take her to thee to wife,
και ίδης μεταξύ των αιχμαλώτων γυναίκα ευειδή και επιθυμήσης αυτήν, διά να λάβης αυτήν εις σεαυτόν γυναίκα,
12 then shalt thou bring her into the midst of thy house, —and she shall shave her head and pare her nails;
τότε θέλεις φέρει αυτήν εις την οικίαν σου, και θέλει ξυρίσει την κεφαλήν αυτής και περιονυχίσει τους όνυχας αυτής·
13 and put away the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thy house, and bewail her father and her mother for the space of a month, —and after that, mayest thou go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
και θέλει εκδυθή τα ενδύματα της αιχμαλωσίας αυτής επάνωθεν αυτής και θέλει καθήσει εν τη οικία σου και κλαύσει τον πατέρα αυτής και την μητέρα αυτής ολόκληρον μήνα· και μετά ταύτα θέλεις εισέλθει προς αυτήν, και θέλεις είσθαι ανήρ αυτής και εκείνη θέλει είσθαι γυνή σου.
14 And it shall be, if thou hast no pleasure in her, then shalt thou let her go whither she will but thou shalt not sell, her for silver, —thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
Και εάν συμβή να μη ευχαριστήσαι εις αυτήν, τότε θέλεις εξαποστείλει αυτήν ελευθέραν· και δεν θέλεις πωλήσει αυτήν δι' αργύριον, δεν θέλεις εμπορευθή αυτήν, διότι εταπείνωσας αυτήν.
15 When a man shall have two wives—the one beloved and, the other hated, and they have borne him sons, both she that is beloved, and she that is hated, —and it shall be that the firstborn son belongeth to her that is hated,
Εάν τις έχη δύο γυναίκας, την μίαν αγαπωμένην και την άλλην μισουμένην, και γεννήσωσιν εις αυτόν τέκνα η αγαπωμένη και η μισουμένη, και ο πρωτότοκος υιός ήναι της μισουμένης,
16 then shall it be, that in the day when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, he may not treat the son of the beloved, instead of the son of the hated, as the firstborn;
τότε, καθ' ην ημέραν μοιράζει εις τους υιούς αυτού την περιουσίαν αυτού, δεν δύναται να κάμη πρωτότοκον τον υιόν της αγαπωμένης, παριδών τον υιόν της μισουμένης, τον αληθώς πρωτότοκον·
17 but the true firstborn the son of her that is hated, shall he treat as firstborn by giving him double out of all that is found to be his, —for, he, is the beginning of his strength, his, is the right of the firstborn.
αλλά θέλει αναγνωρίσει τον υιόν της μισουμένης διά πρωτότοκον, δίδων εις αυτόν διπλούν μερίδιον εκ πάντων των υπαρχόντων αυτού· διότι είναι η αρχή της δυνάμεως αυτού· εις τούτον ανήκουσι τα πρωτοτόκια.
18 When a man hath a son, rebellious and insulting, who will not hearken to the voice of his father, and to the voice of his mother, —though they chastise him, yet will not hearken unto them,
Εάν τις έχη υιόν πεισματώδη και απειθή, όστις δεν υπακούει εις την φωνήν του πατρός αυτού ή εις την φωνήν της μητρός αυτού, και, αφού παιδεύσωσιν αυτόν, δεν υπακούη εις αυτούς,
19 then shall his father and his mother, lay hold of him, —and bring him forth unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
τότε ο πατήρ αυτού και η μήτηρ αυτού θέλουσι πιάσει αυτόν, και θέλουσιν εκφέρει αυτόν προς τους πρεσβυτέρους της πόλεως αυτού και εις την πύλην του τόπου αυτού·
20 and shall say unto the elders of his city: This our son, is rebellious and insulting, —he will not hearken unto our voice, —a glutton and a tippler.
και θέλουσιν ειπεί προς τους πρεσβυτέρους της πόλεως αυτού, Ούτος ο υιός ημών είναι πεισματώδης και απειθής· δεν υπακούει εις την φωνήν ημών· είναι λαίμαργος και μέθυσος·
21 Then shall all the men of his city stone him with stones that he die, so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst, —and, all Israel, shall hear and fear.
και πάντες οι άνθρωποι της πόλεως αυτού θέλουσι λιθοβολήσει αυτόν με λίθους, και θέλει αποθάνει. Και θέλεις εξαφανίσει το κακόν εκ μέσου σου· και πας ο Ισραήλ θέλει ακούσει και φοβηθή.
22 But when there shall be in any man a sin worthy of death and he is to be put to death, —and thou shalt hang him on a tree,
Και εάν τις έπραξεν αμάρτημα άξιον θανάτου και καταδικασθή εις θάνατον, και κρεμάσης αυτόν εις ξύλον,
23 his dead body shall not remain all night upon the tree but thou shalt bury, him on the same day, for a reproach unto God, is he that is hanged, —so shalt thou not make unclean thy soil which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee for an inheritance.
δεν θέλει μένει το σώμα αυτού όλην την νύκτα επί του ξύλου, αλλά θέλεις εξάπαντος θάψει αυτόν την αυτήν ημέραν, διότι είναι κατηραμένος υπό του Θεού ο κρεμάμενος· διά να μη μολύνης την γην σου, την οποίαν Κύριος ο Θεός σου δίδει εις σε κληρονομίαν.
