Deuteronomy 10
1 At that time, said Yahweh unto me—Cut thee out two tables of stone like the first, and come up unto me into the mountain, —and make thee an ark of wood;
"Damals sprach der Herr zu mir: 'Haue dir zwei Steintafeln aus wie die ersten, und steige zu mir auf den Berg! Auch mach dir einen Schrein von Holz!
2 that I may write, upon the tables, the words which were on the first tables which thou brakest in pieces, —then shalt thou put them in the ark.
Ich will auf die Tafeln die Worte schreiben, die auf den ersten Tafeln gestanden, die du zerbrochen hast. Lege sie in die Lade!'
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut out two tables of stone like the first, —and went up the mountain, having the two tables in my hand.
Da machte ich eine Lade aus Akazienholz und hieb zwei Steintafeln aus, wie die ersten. Dann stieg ich auf den Berg, die beiden Tafeln in der Hand.
4 And he wrote upon the tables according to the first writing—the ten words, which Yahweh had spoken unto you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire in the day of the convocation, —and Yahweh delivered them unto me.
Da schrieb er in der gleichen Schrift wie zuvor auf die Tafeln die Zehn Worte, die er am Versammlungstag auf dem Berg aus dem Feuer zu euch geredet.
5 Then turned I, and came down out of the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made, —and they have remained there, as Yahweh commanded me.
Dann gab sie mir der Herr. Ich wandte mich und stieg vom Berg herab und legte die Tafeln in die Lade, die ich gemacht hatte. Sie blieben darin, wie mir der Herr befohlen hatte.
6 And, the sons of Israel, set forward out of Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah, —there, died Aaron and was buried there, and Eleazar his son became priest in his stead.
Die Israeliten waren nun von den Brunnen der Söhne Jaakan nach Mosera gezogen; dort starb Aaron und ward dort begraben. An seiner Statt ward sein Sohn Eleazar Priester.
7 From thence, set they forward unto the Gudgodah, —and from the Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of torrents of water.
Von da zogen sie nach Gudgoda, von Gudgoda nach Jotba, einer Gegend mit Wasserbächen.
8 At that time, did Yahweh separate the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, —to stand before Yahweh to wait upon him and to bless in his name (until this day).
Damals schied der Herr den Stamm Levi aus, die Bundeslade des Herrn zu tragen, vor dem Herrn zu stehen, ihm zu amten und mit seinem Namen zu segnen, bis auf diesen Tag.
9 For this cause, hath Levi neither portion nor inheritance with his brethren, —Yahweh, is his inheritance, as Yahweh thy God spake unto him.
Darum ward Levi kein Besitzteil unter seinen Brüdern. Der Herr ist sein Erbgut, wie der Herr, dein Gott, ihm verheißen.
10 But, I, stayed in the mountain according to the former days, forty days and forty nights, —and Yahweh hearkened unto me at that time also, Yahweh was not willing, to destroy thee.
Ich aber bin wie zuvor vierzig Tage und Nächte auf dem Berge geblieben. Und der Herr erhörte mich auch diesmal. Der Herr hatte dich nicht vernichten wollen.
11 So then Yahweh said unto me, Up with thee—to break away onward, before the people, —that they may enter in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers, to give unto them.
Und der Herr sprach zu mir: 'Auf! Geh vor dem Volke her, daß sie das Land einnehmen, das ich ihren Vätern zugeschworen habe!'
12 Now, therefore, O Israel, what is, Yahweh thy God, asking of thee, —but to revere Yahweh thy God to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yahweh thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:
Nun, Israel! Weshalb fordert der Herr, dein Gott, von dir, daß du den Herrn, deinen Gott, fürchtest und immerdar auf seinen Wegen wandelst, daß du ihn liebst und dem Herrn, deinem Gott, von ganzem Herzen und aus ganzer Seele dienst,
13 to keep the commandments of Yahweh and his statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day, —for thy good?
daß du des Herrn Gesetze und Gebote befolgst, die ich dir heute gebe? Doch nur zu deinem Besten!
14 Lo! unto Yahweh thy God, belong the heavens even the highest heavens, —the earth, with all that is therein.
Des Herrn, deines Gottes, sind die Himmel und die Himmel der Himmel und die Erde und alles, was darauf ist.
15 Only unto thy fathers, Yahweh became attached so as to love them, —therefore made he choice of their seed after them—of you—out of all the peoples, (as at this day).
Aber nur zu deinen Vätern allein hat sich der Herr in Liebe geneigt und euch, ihre Nachkommen, aus allen Völkern erkoren, wie es jetzt ist.
16 Therefore must ye circumcise the foreskin of your hearts, —and your necks, must ye stiffen no more.
So beschneidet die Vorhaut eures Herzens und seid nicht ferner halsstarrig!
17 For as touching Yahweh your God, he, is God of gods, and Lord of lords; the great the mighty, and the fearful GOD, who respecteth not persons, nor accepteth a bribe;
Denn der Herr, euer Gott, ist der Götter Gott und der Herr der Herren, der große, mächtige und furchtbare Gott, der kein Ansehen kennt und keine Bestechung nimmt,
18 executing the vindication of the orphan and the widow, —and loving a sojourner, giving him food and raiment.
der Recht den Waisen und Witwen schafft und den Fremdling liebt und ihm Brot und Gewandung spendet.
19 Therefore shall ye love the sojourner, —for sojourners, became ye in the land of Egypt.
Liebet also den Fremdling! Denn ihr seid Fremdlinge im Ägypterland gewesen.
20 Yahweh thy God, shalt thou revere, Him, shalt thou serve, —And unto him, shalt thou cleave, And in his name, shalt thou swear.
Den Herrn, deinen Gott, sollst du fürchten! Ihm sollst du dienen! An ihm sollst du hängen und mit seinem Namen schwören
21 He, is thy song of praise, And, he, thy God, —who hath done with thee these great and fearful things, which thine own eyes have seen.
Er ist dein Ruhm. Er ist dein Gott, der an dir jenes Große und Furchtbare getan, das du mit eigenen Augen gesehen.
22 As seventy souls, went thy fathers down to Egypt, —and, now, Yahweh thy God hath made thee like the stars of the heavens for multitude.
In der Zahl von siebzig Seelen sind deine Väter nach Ägypten gezogen, und jetzt hat dich der Herr, dein Gott, an Menge gleich gemacht den Sternen des Himmels."
